Let's have balance.

We had a bizarre game against Liverpool, collapsed against Coventry and effectively lost but for VAR and beat City today as we could play on the break like we did under Ole.

We've lost 4-0 to Crystal cnuting Palace in the last few weeks.

We finished 8th. xPts had us finishing 16th. Most shots faced in any European league bar Sheffield United.

It's time for a change. An elite sporting organisation would have made the change already. The backroom overhaul has delayed the inevitable. Even a broken clock is right twice a day.

I'm happy for EtH but his stubbornness this season with suicidal tactics has cost him his job, deservedly so.
Your ‘balance’ doesn’t mention the worst injuries of the league this season.

Pathetic moaner, can’t even enjoy this.

I'm not pathetic or a moaner. I loved yesterday, best day as a United fan post-Fergie for me. It even beat the derby win last season and I was in the Stretford End for that one.

He failed heavily in the two primary competitions. Injuries were a factor but he refused to change his tactics which led to us having the second most shots conceded in Europe out of nearly 1000 clubs. xPts had us 15th in the league this year. Any objective measure tells you that this was a catastrophic failure.

If we aspire to be an elite club, we have to behave like an elite club. That means making objective, clinical and unemotional decisions.

Feck no football is emotion.

The players back Ten Hag so he could stay imo.

Posters like the one you replied to have been using the same tired old straw men all season long. To them, anybody who as much as suggests that the manager hasn't met expectations and should be sacked is a moaner, morally deficient, stupid, reactionary, not a real fan, etc etc.

It's all so tiresome.

What’s tiresome is relentless unnuanced one-sided moaning especially after a great win. He should be ashamed imo.

I was out of the country on Saturday but, despite my feeling of dread, I watched the Cup Final in the bar of my hotel, along with 4 or 5 other Brits, none of them United supporters, though 2 supported Liverpool. The fact that we came away with a fabulous victory over the best team in Europe was and is incredible, but the way we achieved it even more so. For the first time this season every player gave everything for the full 90 minutes. They didnt give City time to settle and constantly chased and tackled.....our players it seems simply wanted it more and gave a superb team performance, highlighted by some brilliant individual performances. The 2 Liverpool supporters slinked off with 10 minutes to go, obviously not wanting to see United victorious, I wasnt sorry to see them go as they criticized us from the kick off. It was and is an incredible feeling to have won the FA Cup again with such a fantastic performance.....the return of Martinez was obviously crucial, this guy must be one of the best centre halves in the world......but not even Martinez could have turned the chaotic, shambolic team who lost to Crystal Palace into superb Cup Winners on his own....so the question is "why havent we played similarly to this, with energy, desire, fight, spirit and resillience, for other matches this season?"
Players like the brilliant Kobbie Mainoo, Hojlund, Garnacho, Martinez, Bruno, will, Im sure, go into next season knowing what can be achieved with the right attitude and drag other players with them, but I have my doubts about Rashford, despite his tears at the end of the match.
It looks like Varane, Martial, Sancho, Van de Beek and Casemiro will be leaving this summer and hopefully Rashford and Antony too. Of them all only Varane showed any real committment and desire, even though he has been out with injuries. Johnny Evans has been wonderful but at 37 his days in the top flight are over.
FA Cup Winners for the 13th time, and there was nothing lucky about it!

Just rewatched it after being there yesterday and yeah, superb stuff all round. Perfect gameplan executed as well as it could've been. By far the better team first half and even though we were always going to come under a bit of pressure second half, we still defended brilliantly and they were still finding it difficult to deal with how compact we were.

Everyone had a part to play but Varane, Martinez, Wan-Bissaka, Amrabat, Mainoo and Bruno in particular were all outstanding.

Last season in the FA Cup final Man City 2-1 winners with shots on goal 11 and shots on target 5

When Barcelona had the choice between Pep and Mourinho back in 2008. What was the clinical unemotional decision at the time in your opinion? Or when Real went for Zidane?

I am not defending EtH here, I am not unequivocal for sacking him as I am not convinced about the alternatives but I also don't think it would be a harsh decision to sack him considering the very reasons you cited. I am merely questioning the notion that football and big successful football clubs do and should make clinical unemtional decisions.

Oh.
Thanks.

I've worked out why we won... I was dressed almost entirely in sky blue. I will be buying lots of shirts, socks and undies this summer

Last Saturday, my big old Trailhound Barrett passed away. Whenever I watched United on the telly, if he jumped on sofa and stayed there, we usually won. It had to be voluntary though.
I missed him beside me yesterday but I'd like to think some of his magic rubbed off.
Thanks old pal, and thanks United for making me feel better.
Great memories and a nice, if sad, story.

Thanks for sharing ;)

Dalot played brilliantly too I thought.

Gutted that Amrabat didn’t manage to get the ball to the runners at the death. I predicted 3-1 to us. Anytime I need cheering up I’ll just put that first half on replay.

This lad can be annoying. But this is pretty decent analysis and essential watching for the crew who think we played “Ole-ball”.

No, sorry but your wrong. Pep was adamant, in his post match interview, that City were the better team.

Anyone else notice the silver runners up medals given to Man City had a red ribbon on them and the fireworks was blue? the FA had themselves convinced City was going to win that final.

ETH has been very loyal to Casemiro which I think he needs to change. Ambarat is limited but is more effective at protecting the defence especially when we had a makeshift defence all season.

After beating Newcastle in the final home game of the season. Ten Hag said this in on his on field speech.

“This season is not over yet. First we go to Brighton where we travel for three points and then we go to Wembley. And I promise you those players will give everything to get that cup and bring it back to Old Trafford.

I said this before the final and I'll hopefully look abit less stupid saying it now - but I've always thought City looked abit dodgy in big cup games and lack big characters. The last one I think they had was Gundogan. Stupid I know because they win so many trophies and are undeniably a winning machine in the league, partly due to their ability to rotate which is massive in the run-in.

But there are a few times in recent memory where this Pep team have looked rattled/weak in KO games:

Knocked out of the CL on pens at home this year.

In the FA cup semi vs Chelsea they looked like they didn't wanna be there, should've had a pen against them for that Grealish handball and Jackson missed about 5 clear-cut chances.

Last year v us in the FA cup final, they scored a freak goal early on but once we got back into the game they were there for the taking, only for Gundogan to score another class goal to knock the wind out of our sails.

Last year when they won the CL, I would say Inter had by far the better chances and if Lukaku wasn't a donkey (missing a complete sitter and getting in the way of dimarco's header at an otherwise open goal) - probably would have won that game.

Not to mention all of the times they got knocked out by lesser teams in the CL over the years: Chelsea, Lyon, Spurs, Monaco.

I think their players aren't great big-game characters and instead rely on Guardiola's excellent possession tactics as a crutch.

When we went ahead on Saturday I didn't for a second feel like any of their players would take the game by the scruff of the neck and go onto turn it around.Even when Doku scored that jammy goal I knew we would see it out.

That's just my opinion anyway

They're 4 times PL Champions in a row. How is that showing lack of big characters? We didn't often do the double under SAF, and only did treble once in two decades.

I just don’t think they’d have dominated over this period with this group of players without Pep’s system. They are technically very very good which coupled with excellent coaching gets them over the line over 38 games in the league.
However I just think they can look rattled in cup games.
Anyway - just my opinion like I said

Good watch that, never seen him before so don’t know what he’s normally like.

Despite the media saying City were poor and/or tired, we were fantastic and it’s interesting to watch some of the key tactics laid out and the impact… KdB one touch in the second half! Ahaland 21 touches all game!

Fair comment. With their squad, city can rotate players throughout the season to amass the points. If they are having an off day, they have the players to avoid a defeat. Their squad is set up to deliver consistent 80-90% performances over 38 games.

In knock out games, it's a different dynamic in that a team "only" has to put in a 90-100% performance for maybe three matches to win it, having drawn lesser teams in the other matches, when a lower percentage performance will do. The difference is having players who can deliver 100% in a few matches.
