You’re joking right? We had one fit CB and haven’t had a LB the majority of the season.
We had at least two fit CB's for almost the entire season. It was only for the last few weeks that we were down to one. Notably, it's when ETH started playing more compactly and our performances (and results) improved. Now imagine if he'd played compactly all season...

We finally made the change that everyone had been asking for against Arsenal, and despite having more injuries in those few games than we have at any other point this season we started turning it around. It actually proves that we were quite capable of having a better season than we did despite the injuries.

I saw a random tweet which I thought was pretty fecking apt and it goes something along the lines of only we could make Coventry City look like Man City and Man City look like Coventry City.

Varane, Licha . What a bloody difference 2 quality CB make.. the only way imo that team could have set up like that by filling up CM and making them go wide was if those 2 are available..
Maybe we could have played bit more like that? Well we did v Liverpool away. Injuries have plagued this squad all season.

Eth is a stubborn fecker and kept going the wrong way trying to be more open style football without the players to do it, plus not good enough to do it ... this ultimately may seal his fate...

What a brilliant day, can’t help but thinking that win be dedicated to our away supporters who followed and supported the team through good and mainly bad days this season, never stopped supporting the team and manager. A big shout out to you guys, proud of you.

A fantastic and deserved win! If you put that together with the quarter final win, that’s 2 great FA Cup games. Up there with any from our history.
It probably didn’t come over on TV (!) but there was a lot of chanting about City being cheats! I was towards centre line so could see City fans and they didn’t like it!

I'm curious. Saw some mentions of their players having stupidly and arrogantly been out drinking and partying before the final, including Haaland. Was there anything to that?

Best performance of the season in the first half. Decent second half. That second goal was football art.

How completely bizarre. Never been so baffled. How can a team produce a performance like that against a team like that in a game of that magnitude after serving up complete dross for nine months.
This wasn’t exactly a bus parking job either, despite all city’s pointless possession (that’s another discussion, the absolute boring anti football bastards). We were so composed in the final third on those attacks, especially in the first half. Players ran themselves into the ground too. Definitely the most satisfying cup win since Fergie left.

Last Saturday, my big old Trailhound Barrett passed away. Whenever I watched United on the telly, if he jumped on sofa and stayed there, we usually won. It had to be voluntary though.
I missed him beside me yesterday but I'd like to think some of his magic rubbed off.
Thanks old pal, and thanks United for making me feel better.

Not really. The United team throughout this season and recent ones kept playing those who don`t deliver/don`t want to deliver because of their reputations and names instead of their end product on the field. United have strayed incredibly far from the days when players with multiple medals like David Beckham, Ryan Giggs and Roy Keane ran their socks off for the team even when there were a few minutes left to go on the pitch.

The cultural shift at Manchester United will take a while to swing back to something resembling what United stood for under Sir Alex. I doubt sacking Ten Hag is going to help. Manchester United is stuck in the musical chairs management cycle, never a practice that makes for succes.

Stick with Ten Hag, give him a shorter contract and finally, sell Harry, Marcus and others who are great on their day but just aren`t going to deliver consistently for whatever reason. I happen to really like the two mentioned but it`s time for them to go. They will not go back to their best form and as we saw today there are hungrier players at United who are prepared to do what United was known for not so long ago.

As for the new ownership leaking and briefing the media on their attitude to Ten Hag - don`t get comfortable, that was a despicable thing to do. Go ahead and play musical chairs with the manager again and see how far it gets you.

Im now more confused
did you respond to the wrong post?

A great day and felt strangely comfortable even after conceding, well done to all! Glad that those who are leaving got the perfect send-off.

First FA Cup winning campaign since 2016. What we had to watch to get to there.

2017 - Quarter final exit away to Chelsea
2018 - FA Cup finalists beaten by Chelsea
2019 - Quarter final exit away to Wolves
2020 - Semi final exit to Chelsea
2021 - Quarter final exit to Leicester
2022 - 4th round exit to championship club Middlesbrough on penalties.
2023 - FA Cup finalists lost narrowly to Man City.
2024 - winners and tears for bald Pep.

We're only one behind Arsenal on most FA cups.

Only two behind Liverpool on total major trophies.

No, you asked how a team can do what United did in the FA Cup after serving up complete dross for so long and you said it was `bizarre`. My reply was no it wasn`t bizarre because United during the season selected players based on their rep and names. Etc.

Was this our best performance against City since Fergie left? It’s certainly one of them. From the past decade, we also have Ole’s wins against them in 2019-20 and 2020-21, and the 4-2 in LvG’s first season. The 2-1 against them last season (which was the best I’d felt after a United game after Fergie left until the League Cup win the following month) and the 3-2 at the Etihad in 2018 were also memorable wins.

Are we organising bus parade now like Liverpool did in 2006 after winning the Fa Cup?

Dalot and Antony are at the Monaco Grand Prix so doubt it. We haven't had an F.A. Cup parade, we even stopped having them for league titles until SAF last one.
I was kidding but thanks for replying. Yeah don't think we'll make another bus parade until there's a PL/CL win or at least some kind of cup treble or something (for example winning Europa + 2 domestic cups).

Sorry for your loss mate, you know he helped push us over the line for sure. Hang in there.

Still buzzing, what a day that was! Winning the fa cup while beating those cheating bastards.....and to top it off seeing the smile back on Fergies face belting out glory glory.....love it.

Liverpool total propped up with trophies that aren't overly major?

On another note Real Madrid should win the Champions league again and over two 90 minute games they were unable to beat City like United did yesterday.

Yeah there were some pics going around of a bunch of them coming out off a nightclub trolleyed last weekend.

Liverpool are on 46 of major trophies like domestic and European, not including charity shields, super cups, club World cups etc...

That's what "major" means.

We're on 44. God knows what it was before Fergie arrived in Manchester. We must've been 25 behind them.

We should try to win Europa next season to keep on their tails.
Domestic trophies are much harder to win.

It would be good to pass Arsenal on FA cups also.

Sorry for your loss. He saw us over the line in the end!

It could have gone either way in truth, but what stood out to me yesterday, apart from how brilliant Kobbie Mainoo is and he’s still only 19, was the sensational play of Martinez and Varane. Whatever happens Ruth the manager, I really hope we can convince Varane to stay. We need a proper third CB anyway so even if we can only get 20-30 games out of Varane next season it would be worth it.

Completely set aside everything else about the season and just enjoyed what I was watching yesterday.
Excellent game plan brilliantly executed by the lads and even though citeh are technically better than us they had no answer on the day.
One scrappy goal for each side, one fab one for us and none for them made it such a sweet day.
Don't bother turning up they said, citeh will walk it they said.....
That lot will NEVER be United!

Absolutely. FA Cup won in 1990 and 2016 was then the following season a European trophy was won so hopefully history repeats itself next season. For the record the final will be in Bilbao and given Spanish teams record in finals it would be better not to be playing a Spanish team in it if United reach the final.

City are actually having a Parade today... I hope there are loads of Reds out there to (safely) remind them it is not a double.
We actually need a thread for this, there were 60 people waiting in the lobby for the live stream when I checked

Pep’s “I’m fine” Ross from Friends energy afterwards was the icing on the cake.
