EL L Europa League Round of 16 1st Leg

Liverpool 2:0 Manchester United

Post-match discussion

Don't mind getting beat 2-0 it's the way we get beat. We play like absolute pussies.

We got done by a team that has Jordan fecking Henderson as captain.

Yep.

LvG put out a strange team at the start.
The players chose to react by not turning up. Couldn't get the ball, hold the ball, spend time in opposition half.
Mignolet was good not to fall asleep

What can you say? More evidence that Van Gaal is not up to this job, never has been and never will be. Won't change a thing of course.

At 2-0 down, can someone explain to me why the feck we still keep passing the ball back and forth between the defenders and even worse passing it back all the way to DDG ? To think a new coach would have to brainwash them and teach them about how to play football all over again. LVG can feck off.

It's tough to put into words how bad we were tonight and just how exasperated I feel watching us.

The situation is just so desperate and it feels like we're helpless, stuck with an inept cowardly fraud of a manager who can seemingly embarrass our great club on a weekly basis and never be put under any pressure.

The entire club from top to bottom is rotten and this decline shows no sign of stopping. I can't watch us anymore with Van Gaal as manager, it's too infuriating and it's not worth getting worked up about it.

Bewildered, I don't think you could have got the tactics more wrong if you tried.
Again the forwards are too isolated
No full backs pushing up and crossing apart from an occasional foray from Blind in the second half
Going 3 at the back seemed to tighten us up until Carrick inexplicably gave it away.

The point is however crap we played, the object in Europe is to score an away goal, is LvG aware of this?

Get the balloon headed feckwit to his summer house in Portugal, where he can apply his philosophy on the plants in his backyard. In year or two, he'll have a desert.
Make sure he take his notepad with him so he can examine the process.

Positive result for one reason alone.

Us going out to Liverpool pretty much confirms no CL football next year, which seals the deal that LvG is out at the end of the season.

That's one of the worst defeats to Liverpool in my memory (even worse than 3-1 with Moyes).

Liverpool really aren't that good. We are somehow worse.

Sad watching these wallflowers playing in our shirt like that against them.

DDG is a class apart.

Can't wait for this season to end. We're just shit.

Ugly to watch, should have been a much bigger win for Liverpool the way we played. Tough to see us advancing after the second goal.

This result has been coming at Anfield. Our luck had to run out eventually.

Meh - never wanted to win it anyway. :p

On a serious note, what an utterly shambolic performance. DDG our man of the match! The rest of the players should hang their heads in shame. Mata, Memphis, Martial, Rojo and Schneiderlin are all gutless cowards and frauds.

1 shot on goal, 0 corners - says it all. It's not often I agree with that twat McManaman but we really did not have any sort of cohesion. And if they score 1 next week (which is highly likely), there's no way in hell we're scoring 4.

To Liverpool's credit, they should've won by 4 or 5, and that is no exaggeration.

Please Jose, come and save us. He would've put out a proper team tonight with proper tactics. Not this one which had Rashford at rightback at one stage, then proceeds to haul the lad off.

On a side note, I'm disgusted by our away support tonight. The Hillsborough chants were tasteless and classless. Utter f*cking morons.

If not for De Gea we'd have lost by 5, absolutely disgraceful performance.

We made the metrosexual, the Taiwanese ladyboy and Mr Glass look like MSN. They were a fluid unit in attack, our forward like just looked like a bunch of strangers running around aimlessly, no movement, no patterns of play, just rigid staleness.

When every single outfield players performance ranges from Absolute shit to just shit... then somethings clearly gone wrong.

Most spineless performance ever by a man united team.

Let's keep paying these guys wages. Embarrassing on every level, to even be in the competition is embarrassing but to perform like that, on top of the way we've played this season, is just a new low. Not even a shot in anger.

awful liverpool team too it was like a championship match.

Re Carrick. He did make a mistake. But up to that point, he added great stability in the back with his passing and saved one clear chance.

Memphis is no substance.
Mata was invisible.
Martial master at blue balls. All excitement, no finish.
Rashford has a long ways to go.

Why removing Morgan and leaving Falaini?

Fellaini comes back from injury. Gets slotted in immediately. Gets 90 mins.
Normal players under LvG need to prove themselves in reserves and U21

This match for me tipped him beyond the 'Moyes shite'. He's now setting standards so low it's actually beyond David Fecking Moyes. Enough said.

Morgan seems to be taken off just because LvG wanted to take some revenge on him losing the ball for the 2nd goal

That was very, very poor. The current Liverpool team aren't fantastic yet we showed nothing. Liverpool were good for the win tonight. We were confusingly bad, I'm not even angry, just bemused by how little we had, didn't even get a corner ffs.

Not fair to single anyone out, so I'll mention a few:

Schneiderlin - a big disapointment all season, awful tonight. He has no bite, plays shocking passes, can't boss a game
Rojo - hoof. He makes a few saving tackles, but his passing is a shocker.
Smalling - seems to be going backwards to me.
Martial - nothing's going for him any more.
Mata - lightweight - no good against physical opponents.
Depay - no pace at all, atrocious shooting, he should not be allowed anywhere near a free kick again.
Fellaini - I'll say nothing
Blind - soooooooooo slow.

Van Gaal - overstaying his welcome.

I believe it's our first ever defeat in European competition to an english club. Another club record.

Just really hate the football hes introduced in his time here.
Just so fecking slow paced.
A year and a half in and fellaini is still somehow in our midfield.
Were relying on 18 year olds to score all our goals because feck all are coming from midfield and we've sold everyone else.
I'd criticise martial (who looks knackered) but he isn't given the ball enough to do much wrong.
If we do somehow manage to get a striker on the ball then theres no runs from midfield.
Fellaini is probably lurking around the back post so he can miss another chance around the 6 yard box.
But every other midfielder in the team seems to be under instruction to never move forward at more than walking pace.
Carrick at cb isn't a plan (not a good one at least) its a defensive crisis.
If schneiderlin is playing in midfield it'd be good to pair him with someone who can pass.
Feck off

I am become Everton

Has LVG had his post match presser yet? Would be interesting to see what excuses he might come up with. Was so happy thinking we turned the tide in those 4 games.
