Encouraging to see we can beat a team playing a high press with our depleted midfield.

Now we have to learn to beat a parked bus.

Wouldn't have begrudged them a 3-0 win, probably would have been if Coutinho had been fit.

Makes it all the sweeter.

Not saying we were great but not seeing this 'got dominated' thing at all. Or did I miss the possession we did not a lot with (Martial chance aside).

True that we don't threaten much, tbf. Rooney, Fellaini, Lingard, Memphis - don't see masses of goals there anytime soon do you?

(am still recovering from the shock of us getting 3 in midweek, tbh)

Blimey Charlie, they weren't exactly cutting us to ribbons!

Heard some nobber "expert" say, if they'd had Sturridge, Sterling and Suarez it could have been 4 or 5. Did they even have that many chances, or was he "just saying"

It's like us "just saying" if we had peak Ronaldo, Best and Charlton we'd have beaten them 4,5-0

We never play well at Anfield. The result is all that matters.
Last year was one of the few what you could call decent performances. We usually either lose or get the sort of win we got today. Says something there wasn't a sending off for either side as well. Looking back you could guarantee one.

Very important win, average performance. I don't see any significant progress in our game.

Yeah I was certain Fellaini would've gotten sent off. Thought Clattenburg handled the game pretty well.

Actually plenty of complaints, we looked poor, especially clueless in the 1st half. But, as you say, a win is a win.

Well, we were coming from a December which consisted of losses and draws. When you are playing so badly, you need to arrest the situation and start taking wins, any which way. Forget about beautiful football. The aim is to get a result.
If you are expecting a Real Madrid type performance from us this season, this won't be happening under LVG. What you are seeing now is as good as it gets. This is an LVG team, through and through.

So, given the above, our poor form, but 3 points (so we can make top 4), this was a good result and no complaints.

A fantastic win. Nothing at all "hollow" about it.

And, more important than beating Liverpool, we've kept our top four hopes alive. Massive, massive result. Devastating for Liverpool, who are now out of the running for a CL place.

Are Rooney and LvG's positions completely safe now? If so, you're welcome. ;)

and if we had Messi Neymar and Ronaldo it could have been 2 or 3 for us too :p

Couldn't give two fecks about the performance.

Win good or win bad, just win.

It's other games where we should and are worried about performances.

Liverpool were shite as well. Toothless.

This, it's a derby, usual rules don't apply.

Fantastic result, considering I was expecting us to lose it. LvG prepared the team well enough, as I was expecting the scousers to press us right from the off and try to kill the game early. Credit where it is due, not a bad performance with a lovely end.

Call that one - an economy of effort.

We were vulnerable in the first half fortunately the Scousers couldn't score in a month of Sundays. Our midfield in the first half was very poor. When our defence pushed up behind them the Scousers caught us flat and fumbling with several cutting forward passes. We allowed Milner to play and Fellaini kept giving away stupid free kicks - again.

Second half and I thought the Scousers came out believing they had won. We didn't exactly push them but they seemed suddenly bereft of ideas. I though Fellaini instead of Ander but then he won a header - amazing! Rooney looked angry all match and that shot was a reflection of it. He didn't lead much but in the end set an example for the lads. I thought our players with the fans was a great move, back to the old days. So we move on having not lost for so many games it seems ages since last year.

A lot of 1-2 touch football today. I mean one touch in defence and hoofing to Rooney.

Terrible performance, Liverpool with more than enough chances to win comfortably but luck was on our side.

"DdG not a fantastic, marvellous goalkeeper today"

… and there was I thinking that a win despite his crap tactic (philofeckingsophical-or-not) would keep him in his job … them's sackable words IMHO!

I've been against his managerial decisions for a good while, but never really disliked the man.
I'm starting to think he's a bit of a moron though.

De gea and the back four were fantastic. Schniderlin and Fellaini were not great but they did what they had to.

In our last game I also noticed (or didn't notice) that Morgan did very little.
Somebody replied to my comment stating that he was quietly doing his job.
This was another game where I felt he was anonymous.
Maybe, I am missing something.

All he said was "DDG had nothing to do other than 2 or 3 saves which you expect he would have to make in a game like this", Frankly its true. Last year he made about 4 or 5 world class saves alone. Other than that Can save, none of them are amazing saves or something

IMO, DDG is the only Galactico we have in our team. Take him out and we'd lose a lot of points.
He is the only player in our team who could probably get into almost any team in the World.

"a bit" the guy's a fecking fruitcake living on past achievements and our inept management are too scared to appear like a "sacking club" to do anything about it!

Even though he'll be off at the end of next season whatever his record! He'd be on his toes even if he was a winner and we begged him to stay. The fact that it seems he's not got a fecking clue is apparently not up to the likes of you, me or any fan to question!

Really chuffed with the result today, we were second best the whole of the first half and it seemed more of the same but in the second we really started to get a bit of momentum. This is a huge win for us and I just hope we can push on from here because we're in touching distance of the top four again now.

I'd personally like DdG to stay and not sure that sort of personal attack will help. So far well over 80% of the CAF have voted DdG MOTM so it might have been nice to say something warm and cosy about him don't you think? The sort of comment that LvG made will hardly help. Can you imagine SAF saying anything like that shit?

He made saves that you'd expect him to make, but he kept us in the game and it was an excellent performance, which is more than can be said for the rest of the team.

I don't give a flying divebombing thundercunting feck how we played. We won at Anfield. That is all. Perfect weekend.

The only thing that matters today is that we beat the Dippers. I'm buzzing. I don't care how we played. I can go to work tomorrow and be the one searching out his work mates rather than trying to hide.

you should work in the tabloids lifting that line, yet ignoring the "of course he's playing very good"
