I don't get how any of us can be anything but delighted after beating Liverpool away

Especially after the run we have been on

This is one of those good days

Ah, don't get me wrong, I'm glad we beat them. In hindsight, performances against Liverpool don't really matter. But I've not enjoyed watching us play for what seems like a long time now, and our attacking approach is a big part of it.

Oh come on man!

Disagree?

I just think when going forward we lose a bit in our attack as our current options aren't the greatest on the ball. Losing Shaw obviously a big impact on that, but even Darmian in the second half didn't seem to want the ball.

My thought is it would help in our lack of attack, which obviously has many other faults. but think a player on the outside would help. further to that, the injuries we currently have, we need cover. young going down was not a good sign.

I love beating the scousers this way because their moans and tears will be priceless. What a win!

True. Last year many scousers I know, accepted our dominance in the game and were quite relaxed about the loss. But they are seething now.....

Beat the scouse in their own shitehole. That's the important thing.

Other than that two teams in poor form, we sat back and let them have the ball knowing they can't do much with it, one shot aside our attack was isolated and poor in general.

Rooney is having one of his, score one 'cant stop for 4 or 5 games' runs which is masking some of the issues though. That team could and should be doing better.

Stats are funny...after hearing how bad we have been in last 8 and last 10 matches....now we are 3 wins and 2 draws in last 5

Thought we played to plan perfectly.

Not saying we played well, but we let Liverpool have the ball in non-dangerous positions. It was clear what our plan was, I just though Lingard and Martial had poor games, giving the ball away far too easily.
Not just them two, but I agree.

Smalling is starting to worry me he has started to digress and makes some really stupid fouls.
That's been going on since november, but just before that he was declared England's new hope in defense, so it hardly gets mentioned.

Are people seriously suggesting getting dominated and then scoring off a setpiece was part of some sort of plan?

Two average teams tried to play football - we just got lucky.

Can anyone just let me know was it our fans singing "red army, red army" throughout the match or Liverpool?

We were far from dominated

We're are people getting this from? It was generally on close game

And yes I think lvg's full gameplay went accordingly today.

And 3 points from top 4. Not bad stats considering what a terrible season it feels like we're having.

Had we beaten Chelsea and Newcastle like we deserved to, would have been 3 points off top FFS.

Buzzing after that. If you can't enjoy a victory at Anfield time to rethink things!

Two crappy teams playing crappy football is what it looked like to me.

Sweet result because scousers, and we need to not finish in a totally embarrassing position.

Yup

I'm starting to look at that table again now. It's not impossible if we can go on a run now

Like you said we should have beaten Newcastle and Chelsea too

Any questions though that lvg has started to turn things around are answered. He has got them going again, although I realise this will disappoint many fans

Oh I agree, it's just you called them Outside Backs :D

Absolute smash and grab game, but a win over Liverpool is always so so satisfying. Nice good and good to see Rooney in a bit of form now. Long may that continue. Also thank you De Gea once again. Where would we be without him?

I'm pretty sure it was the United fans, although it's not a chant I'm familiar with. I guess it's instead of Louis Van Gaal's Red Army?

The away fans were brilliant to be fair. They were all I could hear throughout the game. Not a peep out of the scousers. Mind you, we probably put them to sleep.

Yes, get in!!!!

Away fans, DDG, Rooney and Martial were the positives from the game, CBJ too.

Great feeling, can't complain.

Happiest I've been in such a long time. Beating that lot in "smash n grab" makes it sweeter. Grinning ear to ear and strutting around the house lol.

Then got so much moaning on here makes me just laugh.

What I thought, not a chant I'm familiar with but it seemed our fans were much the louder - well done gang.

It was a smash and grab and we weren't that great but after the Newcastle debacle, I think most will take it :)

judging the performance today , if we would have drawn or lost I would have slated the whole team and manager as it was pretty toothless .
The fact of the matter is we won so I don't give a toss . Chelsea , city , Arsenal and Liverpool away are always games that you can turn a blind eye to the quality of the performance and it's all about the result .
Liverpool were slightly better than us today and going off both league positions and the fact that it's At anfield you would expect that so there's no great surprise there .
If Liverpool would have won that game today they would be crowing that they "hammered" us and "out played" us. , when really they were the worst Liverpool team to play us at anfield that I can remember and I'm 47 years old .
Let's enjoy today and worry about performances and getting shut of flat face The next game down the line .

Hahahahahahaa, what a great feeling to win at Anfield like that.

Love a nice smash and grab, but we need to push on and win our next game (Saints at home?)

Come on now. This has happened multiple times before. Are you gonna fall for it again?
We didn't even deserve the win today.
The reason he's still in a job is because people keep getting excited when we win a couple ('is this the turning point?!'), then it goes back to the same old results that go with the absolute dredge we see on the pitch week in week out.

Really pleased with the result but obviously the performances need some improvement. I'm excited to be able to give the Liverpool fans I work with a bit more stick than usual. Get in United!

I've been looking at the table since that Chelsea slip up, it's not beyond the realms of possibility to finish anywhere in the top 4 if we can string some results together. Hopefully today's win gives the players a boost and the confidence to go on a run.

We stole that 3 points but like many here I'm not going to complain. We need that 3 points. De Gea was magnificent as usual & Rooney smashed that ball goalward.
