Post-match discussion

I agree. His positioning and control were almost perfect today. He managed to stay on that seat for 80 minutes and didn't even look tired!

He was seen out of position a couple of times to warm up.

Blind MotM for me, very unfortunate for Shaw though.
Pogba, Lingard, Herrera, Mata, were all brilliant.

Fun fact they said on Norwegian telly, on our second goal there were 18-19 touch, and all outfield players touched the ball before we scored :)

  • I think that was Mata's best game in a United shirt. On another level to Wayne Rooney
  • Much improved from Pogba.
  • Blind was excellent at LB, might be tough for Shaw to come back into the starting XI.
  • Herrera is an improvement on Fellaini in that role and should play more often.
  • Rashford is pretty much an automatic starter and I thought Lingard was decent, I think that RW role will be the one to target for Martial, Depay, Miki.
  • Zlatan showed bits of class at time and should have got a goal, I think he drops too deep sometimes and while he is better than Rooney at doing that, I would prefer him to stay up top and be a target man.
  • I though Bailly was excellent, especially in the first half.

That would be a waste of his great playmaking. He can do both so he should be given the freedom to decide how to play. Being a target feels too limited for him.

Mata, Blind, Herrera and Pogba were a level above today. Mata should be given a run of games in that number 10 role from this.

Fantastic first half, poor lazy 2nd half.

Pogba showed his true ability, mata was great.

What a game. Now throw in Mkhitaryan for Lingard and lets give this premiership a chase.

Can't wait to hear what Neville has say about Rooney's omission now

Bailly is our best buy regarding defenders since Evra and Vidic. And overall it seems like one of the best transfers we've made in years

Dominating performance by our midfield. Pogba is gradually getting up to speed. Mata showing how Rooney wasted his time. Herrera must have won the ball 10-20 times. Overall really satisfactory

Love how the banner at the top says Pogba motm, Mata highest rated player. It's been a while since we have seen so many top performances in one game.

Blind looked pretty good at left back. Mykitarian/Martial to come in for Lingarrd and i think we are close to the best 11.

Even first 20 minutes
Last 25 minutes of first half fantastic, you could feel the confidence oozing back into the team after Smalling's opener.
Really enjoyed it, whole team played well and Pogba superb and Mata and Blind very good as well.
Slacked off 2nd half but understandable with midweek game and a big lead, got a bit sloppy leading up to Gray's goal but controlled the game afterwards.
Well done

Defensively.. we still look shaky. Bailly was brilliant but the others were vulnerable especially down the flanks. Valencia is not what we need long term. Midfield lacked balance, defensively was poor but going forwards was nice after we went a goal up. Flanks we looked lively but we lack a really accurate dribbler out wide with flair.. at the moment we have guys who run in straight lines like a Martial/Rashford but we could do with a dribbler on the opposite flank like a Nani with guile, flair out wide just to take us to a higher level out wide.

All in all, spectacular performance.

Mourinho had this scenario planned already before the game vs Northampton. He played Rooney just so he could drop him for today with him playing that game as an excuse.

Agree with Souness just then. We can do much more from open play but we were wasteful with the last pass and finishing

Good win, was over by half time. Lets hope Jose keeps as settled team selection. Still work to do but much better by everyone.

That would be a waste of his great playmaking. He can do both so he should be given the freedom to decide how to play. Being a target feels too limited for him.

Thought he achieved a good balance today. There were a few runs in behind, and whenever he dropped deep, Rashford was making the diagonal in behind, something which Martial in comparison is really poor at doing.

If you say so, it wasn't anything to do with Leicester being an absolute shambles.
If you say so, it wasn't anything to do with United being brilliant.

See what I fecking did there? Take your killjoy attitude elsewhere.

So bloody nice to enjoy a game like that and have an entire Saturday left. Love it.

You made the changes everyone wanted including the big one and got the result and a great performance to go with it Looked like a team today and Pogba seemed to have an extra spring in his step. Finally the real United turned up. Could be a struggle for one of Martial, Mkhowerever you spell it to get back in the side. Blinds performance today also may spell trouble for Shaw. Good win and well played Jose.

Enjoyed the first half after the goal. Before that Leicester was much more dangerous, after that is was very enjoyable but actually not that great football and it took some very nice corners and poor defending, it was more of a buzz than real creativity. The second half doesn't say much with a scoreline like that, but it's safe to say that a team that is gelled together well would have looked better and a well organized defence wouldn't have to concede that many chances.

The main positive thing is that Herrera's movement gives some direction to Pogba, which he needs.

Fantastic football. Nobody was dominating silently, they were all loud as feck. Just exactly how Man United football should be played.

Blind might be our best cornerkick taker. His crosses are dangerously sharp. Striker's favourites.

Herrera just never disappoints me. Disciplined and aggresive.

Pogba showed his true class, with still some glimpse of potentials to be unleashed. I believe Ballon Dor or whatever it is now, wouldnt be just a dream for him.

Really happy for them all. Hope we wont step back again after this like we did in the last two season.

Lovely first half. The brakes came off after 1-0. Hard to pick a MOTM. Mata, Blind, Pogba, Herrera, all very good.

What a fun match. That first half was a joy to behold. I'm probably going to watch that half again tomorrow, what a performance.

Breath of fresh air with the one and two touch passing in tight areas and the all round fluidity of the attack. I liked the runs Rashford and Lingard were making off Ibra now that he had the room to drop in and make openings, and Pogba was just superb both in his quality on the ball and his defensive tracking.

A small step for sure, but an important one no matter how the media twist it.

Fantastic first half performance eased off in the second half as Leicester packed the midfield.

Was nice to be able to sit back and enjoy a game, first in a while..... a long while
