I agree but blind has a few years on him [Shaw] doesn't he.

Yes.
So, why wouldn't you play the absolute best player in that position?

Rashford is far younger than Ibra, but I would much rather Ibra player as our main striker.

Wayne Rooney. Had his best and most influential 83 minutes of the season. His contribution to the fluency and fluidity of our play really shouldn't be underestimated or under-appreciated. I'm happy that Jose had finally found his best position and Wayne didn't let anyone down! Let's hope we (and he) continue this.

This I agree with 100%.
Rooney helped the team by not being on the pitch.
Jose has finally found, Rooney's best position.

Shaw's best performance...

Chelsea away 2014-2015.

Okay, but would you rather have the player who is performing best now OR would you rather have a player who performed well 18 months ago?

Remember, Shaw is still young and he will definitely get his chance to play. Blind will pick up an injury (all players do) and when this happens, Shaw will get his chance to impress and get a run in the first team.

Not sure if it was 4-2-3-1 or 4-3-3. Mata got into the box whereas Pogba didn't and Pogba tracked back whereas Mata didn't but Herrera got the ball off the CBs and not Pogba. Maybe 4-2-3-1 and 4-3-3 are different aspects of the same reality and we need to develop a unified theory to express their same underlying substance. I am so fecking high right now.

The only thing that really matters is putting a team out that will get a result NOW.

If Shaw has to sit a few weeks out so be it. He'll still most likely get games in the Europa!

These are Pogba's touches:

And these are Mata's:

There's not a huge difference that couldn't be explained by the pair having different playing styles and different jobs at corners.

Tactically, I think Mourinho tasked them with covering the same parts of the pitch (on opposite sides).

@Dante
Herrera's touch map is the same: all over the place, not predominantly the right. I guess it was 4-3-3.

Hope this isn't another false dawn. Just want the next game now.

I don't expect us to trash every team by the half-time but similar performances needs to become our standards if we're going to compete with City, Liverpool, Arsenal etc.

Hopefully this wasn't one-off. Great win and performance but I'm holding my cheers until we've played a big one and seeing a performance on par with this one.

Are you serious? Mata kept us ticking. Short little passes that kept the ball moving - unlike Rooney who would often times turn the ball over or slow play down. Valencia has been briliant this season IMO. Herrera did play well. I agree there.

Leicester may have been poor but you have to remember that last year we could barely get 4 shots on goal let alone score 4 goals.
Sorry, but not sure he touched the ball in the first 20 or for the 10-15 before he was yanked off

Best performance in years. Really happy with the squad and Jose's decision regarding Rooney.

I am really excited for the Stoke match, especially since it will be my first Old Traford visit.

For once in what feels like an eternity we played Mata in his correct position and what a difference it made , it's been so frustrating seeing him played wide right month after month I really rate the guy but was thinking we should just move him on as we weren't getting the best out of him , let's hope this is a turning point for him at United because he is a quality player when played as a number 10

Excellent match...or at least first half. Was great to see them trash Leicester. Easily could've been 6-1, I thought Zlatan missed at least two very make-able (for him) chances. Mata was excellent, my MoTM, though Pogba and Blind were right there also for me. Great to see, hope it's a trend!

Really enjoyed the win, but Leicester afforded us a lot of time and space to play in midfield which made it relatively easy for us. The test will be when we play teams that press us.

Chelsea away 2014-2015.

But, I get your point, both are fantastic options to have certainly

Shaw was a excellent in that game, but doesn't compare in terms of Blind's productivity.

Shaw is unquestionably a great prospect and our long term left back. That said, Blind really deserves to keep his place after the Leicester game.
