I wouldn’t say critical but I suppose he was less bad there. He can’t header, he can’t run with it, he’s too slow when it’s bouncing around him, this was all after 70 minutes too. He did play a nice pass in to garnacho though I’ll give him that

It was scrappy. Leeds away, with players looking to impress an incoming manager and fighting against relagation was always going to be a slog.

Leeds pressed really well, and were very determined in the tackle, but we did not give in and loved seeing a few feck you tackles from our players.

You have to give Leeds some credit for making it so difficult for us.

Having said that, Leeds fans can get absolutely fecked.

The Martinez sub, along with Weghorst moving into an 8-10 role really changed the game. I think EtH really likes the idea of putting Rashford through the middle late in matches.

Wonderful cross-pitch ball by Sabitzer for our first goal. I think him and Casemiro are going to be class together.

Wonderful result considering other results around the league.

Now come on, Dracula! Give us one more favorable result!

One thing to note about Leeds their midfield is the same US midfield that teams struggled to deal with at the world cup. Very aggressive. I wouldn't be shocked if they climb up the table just from brining in Mckinnie. He was at Juventus for a reason.

Very good analysis. And imo both Sabitzer and Fred were poor today. Imo Sabitzer was even worse than Fred. At least you could see Fred when we defended. Sabitzer basically lost all his duels and didn't make a single good pass forward. Our midfield was literally non existent especially when it comes to keep and progress the ball or create chances. Bruno was heavily marked and tackled out of the game. This forced us to go long balls without any real target for the first 60' until Martinez came in and changed the game.

Literally swept the ball outwide to Luke Shaw to cross to Rashford header.

The first 60min I was ready to slag ETH for playing Maguire, who was awful and Wout, who was subpar.

The people saying Fred was MOTM have no clue. Fred causes a lot of problems for us because he is constantly going rogue in his defensive positioning. Also, his ball progression and slow play / ball movement really hurt us.

‘Credit ETH for brining in Garnacho and playing Rashford central. Question is why didn’t he just start Rashford central?

That was a horrendous watch, especially the first 35 minutes or so of the second-half where we looked determined to gift them a goal if they would just take it.

Agreed. They will not turn any heads for flashiness or forward progression, but you would be hard pressed to find a harder working midfield partnership in the Premier League in my opinion.

Made up with 4 points from these two games because we could easily have lost both and probably would have done last season. We were largely awful today but got away with it. Very poor in midfield without Casemiro especially, and also miss Eriksen's' quality on the ball in there. Fred and Sabitzer are two number 8's trying to play in a pivot and it disjoints the whole team.

Only one more game to survive without Casemiro and thankfully he can play Thursday.

It takes two teams to make a game - so if it was scrappy and ugly it wasn’t all our fault. LU are known for being aggressive amd energetic and that’s what they brought. Hard to play nice football when the other team won’t.
Harry makes it “exciting”. Dalot isn’t ready to come back yet. Shaw and Licha a class above.
I never really thought we were going to lose this game but wasn’t sure how we were going to win it. The subs and positional alterations were game-changers.

Low quality, high intensity. Sabitzer looks to be an excellent piece of business. Smart player, would like to see his deal made permanent. He’s very different from Casemiro, and his role today he was deployed deeper than he likes.

Weghorst had a great second half. 6 or 7 times linked up well after he dropped into more of a #10 role, ran his legs off. First half he got nothing to feet, so how is he meant to bring anyone else into play? Second half he got the ball to feet and lo and behold did well.

Well done Rashy and Garnacho. Quality.

ETH - Very rarely felt like there has been anything to criticise, but why are we picking strong line ups for games like Reading at home, or Forest at home with a 3-0 head start, and then when it comes to Leeds away and our midfield is already missing, suddenly decide we can bring out the circus in place of some of our first team? Martinez in particular will be very glad to have gotten a rest in preperation for being banned from playing against Barcelona

Maguire - i like him as a character but look, I'm sorry but you just can't have a player in your team where the opposition get a free shot on your goal because the ball hit him 10 seconds ago and he's still got his back to the game trying to figure out where it went, or where it takes 15 seconds for him to decide where to pass it and he STILL fecks it up. There must have been 4-5 incidents from him today where a better team would have ended up scoring. That's 4/5-0 on another day (and as we saw last season it can and does happen), its not a fecking joke. He isn't a PL player.

Overall - Thought that was our worst performance since right back at the start of the season. Yeah we won but we made it look like we were trying to play a game of football in the middle of an active tornado.

I think the game changed when they changed Bamford, with whom Lisandro had had aerial problems during the last match.
It is no coincidence that as soon as they change it, ETH puts Martinez to have a better start from below and then a better construction of the game.
