PL D FA Premier League

Manchester United 0:0 Hull City

Post-match discussion

Wed, 01 February 2017

We are in our true position, simple as that.

33 goals in 23 games is nowhere near good enough for United, especially after what has been spent. We have looked average all season, even in the winning run when we were beating poor sides, and since the Liverpool game we have been poor.

Major work required, hesitant to say we need to spend more money but there is something missing in that final third.

Wouldnt of made a bit of difference if he had bought him and the sheriff on. There is something not right with the team.
If he had come on along with Mata instead of Rooney, we might not had won for certain, but it'd have at least made sense.

Jose hasn't really experimented much has he? it's the same system
ibra=undroppable
everyone else is not allowed near the goal.

Useless cnuts. Can't beat bottom of the league at home when the top 4 all dropped points the day before. fecking pathetic performance. We don't deserve a top 4 place.

Martial instead of Rooney would have been by far the better sub. FFS.

This I do agree with.
In fact, I'd have brought on Martial or Fellaini. Fellaini is exactly the sort of player you need in these types of games.

The Jones injury killed every chance we had, because we couldn't bring Martial on anymore (well, we could instead of Mata, but Jose was having none of that). Our chance conversion isn't even atrocious, I can't find a word for it anymore. Open goal is yet again not enough to score.
Europa League it is lads.

Of course, but the point is; did the side we put out tonight have enough about it to beat a team like hull. In my view it did and as such the players need to shoulder the responsibility.

Oh of course I am with you there. In fact nearly the same team did the same thing in the last game vs Hull and should really have wanted it more.

Well Mkhitaryan, Zlatan, Pogba, Rooney, Mata and Rashford all lacked quality tonight.

Mourinho has messed this one up for me. Martial is one of the very few match winners we have in the team. Not even bringing him up as a sub when he has been among our most in form players recently is stupidity. We are miles below the teams above us in terms of our attacking play. Europa League should be prioritized if we want CL football next season.

We're falling back into bad habits. Wayne Rooney for example all of a sudden seems to be the first man off the bench. This is 2017 Jose! We know our best attacking options and Rooney is not one of them.

How Martial didn't get a kick in this game is beyond me.

I'm done waking up at 2 am to watch United for this season. Pathetic.

Serves Mourinho right for not even putting Martial on the bench. And that too over a useless Young who didnt even get subbed
Martial was on the bench

Why do we not play football for the first 45 minutes of games? Every week we're looking to the bench for a solution... It's complete gash.

Its not about luck anymore. I had to grit my teeth reading countless posts complaining of the luck against Stoke, Burnley, Watford but it stops being luck after a certain point. If you can't even score a goal against Hull at home just pack up the top 4 aspirations.

A lot of the blame in my honest opinion is towards Mourinho for tonight. He ignored Martial and then ignored the opportunity to put him on and chose Wayne Rooney. The only correct change he made was Juan Mata and there is a fair shout to suggest he should have started him in the first place.

It wasn't a great display, we created one glorious chance and one decent enough one with Pogba. Against a team like Hull we should be making far more chances than we did. We are the worst side to watch going forward out of anyone in the top 6, and our manager has somewhat questionable treatment of his attacking men (as he has done in other clubs).

I wonder whether we'll soon see an another instagram vid of Pogba and Lingard dicking around the dressing room. The sad thing is, we probably will.

Rooney for Carrick. :wenger:

No Martial

Shocking decisions really. Why is Rooney still our first sub whenever we want to score a goal is beyond me.

If he had come on along with Mata instead of Rooney, we might not had won for certain, but it'd have at least made sense.
As ive put on a bit further down I think hes heading martial for the exit.

Feels like any progress we had made this season has been completely undone. We may now be a worse side than at any point under Van Gaal. Worst of all Mourinho is showing questionable game management and favouritism and looks to be pushing Martial out of the door. The positives about this season have all disappeared and we don't look a step closer to a return to the top. We look to be heading in the wrong direction, for the fourth year running.

I'd love to know what % of Rashfords dribbles are actually a success? Very very little. He can't cross, is one footed and is not a fecking left winger!! Just feck off with that shite, Jose. Rooney for Carrick? Bizzare! Pogba useless also. Blind is not a LB. Burnley and Hull got a 0-0 draw at OT. That's fecking criminal. Yes i'm mad.

Embarrassing performance, we're just not that good truth be told. Our attack is hit and miss at best, the defence is alright I supppose, keeper is good and the midfield is atrocious. Paul Pogba has been a massive waste of time and money, for that amount of money he should be regularly making the difference but he's just not worth it.
The league might as well be a write off bar some miraculous rise which I think I can put my neck on the line and say won't happen.
Hopefully we at least win a cup this season, or maybe start small with winning a match at Old Trafford.

Big opportunity missed. Chelsea v Arsenal next, if we could have won today and then beat Leicester we would have put ourselves in a brilliant position to possibly leapfrog Arsenal if they lose to Chelsea, if not we would have made up more ground on the leaders at least.

Only consolation is the run of fixtures for all the teams ahead of us there are a lot of 6 pointers, Chelsea Arsenal, Arsenal Spurs, Spurs Liverpool... couple of fixtures like that coming up in March and April.

2 points dropped but another good display. Just keep chipping away and we will be at the very least in the top 4 come end of March
.

What game did you watch. It was a terrible performance. And we wont get top four. We keep slipping up when we are having an "easy" run of games.

You got to be kidding to blame this result on the ref.

As I said the quiality wasn't there. But for my money we tried. Hull did everything they could to spoil the game, and the ref just let them.
Had he given enough time at the end I'd say fair enough, that would have been Hull's punishment. But he pretty much let them get away with it all through added time as well.

Every time we swap Carrick for Rooney at halftime, I die a little inside.

This isn't better than Van Gaal's football. It's just a bit different.

Mourinho's coaching so far seems to provide sod all in terms of baseline expected results.

Screw you idiots with your 'one of those days' nonsense - this is systemic. I genuinely don't see a lack of talent out there but the play is so predictable and shows little sign of training ground work.

If you don't even look like scoring there's something wrong. Even shit teams can provide a genuine threat.

Yes it is. I remember the last 10 minutes of a game last season while looking for an equalizer or a winner where we created feck all. I used to think all the time: "wow, we really deserved nothing from this game". But it was clear we were the dominant side and should have won.

It´s frustrating dropping two points, especially considering the results from yesterday, but we are definitely better from last season.

Very poor. Though we've only lost ground on City this week I think top four is a bridge too far. We won't win more matches than the teams in front of us playing like this.

Our play in the final third is awful and our passing and ball retention is laughable considering the talent we have in the side.

Mourinho's refusal to either drop or sub his love children will cost us & already has constantly over the season. Also, why is Rooney ever playing as he is hopeless. Even against Wigan he looked out of his depth.

This team has mentality issues. Bunch of soft cnuts

Really can't shake the feeling that's top 4 done now, massive opportunity and we only used it to prove once again that we've got the most ineffective attackers in the league.

That's top 4 finished, and honestly, rightfully so. Simply not good enough, we don't deserve it. Our finishing is laughable, we're not creative enough either. Such a wasteful team.
