Absolutely abysmal. Appallingly atrocious. feckin feeble and piss poor.

Everyone saying we need a striker, which I agree with, but GK is by far our biggest issue IMO. His being so shit and cowardly allows teams to play how they want against us.
We really should give Bayinder a chance if he’s staying and let Onana know he’s no longer number 1 but we’ll play the best GK depending on the game. His kicking today was abysmal, he simple recycles the va so the opposition can just attack us.

How long until we see Chido Obi on the bench? I hate to put him in at the deep end but Rasmus loses all his duels and does poor runs already so it's not like you'd lose much

Watched hundred of away matches like that in the good ol days, so fair enough 3 points in these bad ol days.
Yes totally fair point. I’m not really sure what are fan base expect they slate practically every player then expect us to win most games with great performances. IMHO we have great defensive players and aside Bruno and young kid in and poor attacking players the manager wants to implement his style he doesn’t have the players in a lot of areas but he’s playing like this and preserving so that when he does the ones we keep will be up to speed I back him and the owners should too. The balance of the team isn’t correct so concentrate on what you’re strong at. We have a great defence except goalkeeper so we looked well defending when he has the attackers to score and keep the ball properly or defence won’t need as much protection and we will start improving but it won’t be this season and next year will be a slog at times too. The away fans know Ruben singing all night

Anyone else feel that Berrada and SJR just told him to get a few wins at any cost so we can put all the relegation talk on the ‘back burner’

Then when we get to 35/36 points hopefully in next 2/3 games, he must try a more expansive system with hopefully the 2 new players we bring in before February 3rd.

I think if we could get a left wing back in on a permanent and a striker on loan. I also think Rashford is going nowhere and he might banished to the under 18’s for the rest of the season. If i was a betting man, I’d wager that at least One of Rashford, Garnaucho or Hojlund is going before next week end?

About 4 shots on goal all game, watched the sky highlights on YouTube to have another look at the offside goal, it's not in it. But they show Fulham shots that went 40 yards over and Maguire heading the ball away from Onana.

Important win, poor quality game. We created practically nothing in attack and it felt like a day where we'd need a bit of a flukey one to get a goal. That's exactly what we got. The only good move was the offside goal at the end.

Still a rare away win and we bounced back from a poor defeat in our last PL game. Next few games are winnable and it would be amazing to be able to pick up some momentum.

Clean sheet! That doesn't happen too often.

The only 3 players in attack that I have confidence they can keep the ball in tight situations are Ugarte, Bruno and Amad. Everyone else is at best 50-50. Then there is Holjund at 20-80. This is why our attack sucks.

Important win.

A. Robinson didn't have a very good match, but he would improve us so much on the left. Good player.

We just have to sign at least one proper wing back to play this system.

Can Sir Jim have a whip round or something because it's pretty obvious it's what we need.
I still don't get what a wingback is.

Can someone please describe the role of a wingback and does any PL team play that formation ? If so who are their wingbacks?

It felt like a match no one deserved to win.

de Ligt had his header in the first half that was a decent opportunity, obviously got really lucky with a flukey winner and Amad was then unlucky with his offside goal. Beyond that we lacked anything in an attacking sense at all really. Thought we did quite well overall in a defensive sense, showed some character. Fulham only really created a proper chance after we'd taken the lead.

It was an ugly win, that was sorely needed.

If we brought in a number 9 like Johnathon David for £15/20m as he’s got 6 months of his contract left, Sent Rasmus there on an 18 month loan, then sold Zirkzee in the summer and bought Gykores or Osimhen, I’d feel very confident but with those two likely staying all season we won’t win many!

I do not disagree, that we need striker help. But, the way we attack right now, I have no idea what a better striker would do for our squad? Unless you just want a Wout to hold up play.

I will totally admit, I am shite at tactics, etc...

Poor performance.
We were taking too many touches, too long to make passes, were pretty static. Never really got behind them in any way. I dont mind Martinez slowing it down and taking an extra touch and inviting the press because he gets it forward and can pass. I wish the likes of Maguire would keep it down to a couple of touches and keep the ball moving a bit more. We just had a really poor, slow tempo to our play.

In urgent need of a striker and a keeper, the lack of trust in the back and the lack of play upfront is very obvious.

Kobbie, Bruno, Mount could sort the AM. But that means another midfielder (other than the also needed LWB)

Work on the loans, work on the youth, and spend the chips on 2 or 3 aditions in the summer.

With 3 quality players, the team can easily turn around. And i mean technical quality, football brain, mental attributes and leadership (when Bruno is tired, he is annoying).

Wolves play with wingbacks, normally Semedo and Alt Nouri, the basis is they start 20 yards higher up the pitch in line with your two central midfield players and are used more as old fashioned wide wingers and are responsible for the most of the wide creativity of the team when they attack, they main task is to create goal scoring opportunities for the three attacking strikers, normally two inverted tens and an out and out CF players more narrow in the width of the penalty area.

They are expected to sometimes come inside and cover or make the last man attacking the far post goal from the opposing Wing Back, they have to also get back in a defensive position normally only 10/15 yards from a narrow three man Defence when they are defending. Normally these players must be incredibly athletic and much better on the ball than a normal Full Back.

If you’ve watched Bundersliga last year and this year, Leverkusen have the best example of this system with Jeremie Frimpong and Grimaldo playing as high attacking wing backs, weirdly enough however Alonso has now changed from his 3421 system at beginning of season back to a 4231 this year just like Conte who used to always play 343/352 and now he plays 433 at Napoli, they said they would never change too but they did!

It's basically a dynamic full back who is supposed to contribute something telling in the attacking phase. That could be by timing runs on overlaps, dribbling past a defender, or providing a telling cross.

So someone who needs insane stamina levels and explosiveness to run up and down the line.

If you look historically at United, players like Patrice Evra and Antonio Valencia would have fitted well into Amorim's system.

In terms of all time greats it would be players like Cafu, Roberto Carlos, and Marcelo.

I know we can't really judge Amorim's tactics until we get some wingbacks, but playing an extra CB is so utterly useless. Game was a total snore, thankfully Licha took a shot with a fortunate deflection to get the 3 points.

Sadly that’s not how he spells his name, but I enjoy your way much more, it sounds like an all night gathering of Johns or something  (like walkathon or danceathon)

It was like we're back to LVG's pointless, nothing football. No shots, barely any attacks, static, slow, ponderous. Thank god for that deflection the one time someone dared to try.

My worst nightmare is coming back. I stopped watching United during LVG's crap, it's getting to that point again.

Definition of a part time plastic fan right there

Really bad game, but an important win. A lot of players were bad and Rasmus was the worst. He didn´t receive a single pass with his front to goal and that is terrible service. His first touch was so bad though.I don´t give a lot of 3s after matches, but he and Zirkzee got one yesterday.

About time a stupid deflection goes in our favour. The amount of times we've been done by deflections is annoying.

Do we have awful players, yes. But when do we start questioning Amorim for these turd performances week in week out?
You can tell they are horrified of losing the ball. You cannot tell me the manager has nothing to do with that. It is boring-shite football is what it is and I am sick of it.

Ngl, that was a snooze fest. Very hard fought win. Fulham were set up really well to deal with Amad which negated all our attacking output. Garnacho was decent, tried his best. Really need to avoid playing two full backs at wing back, especially if one of them is a brainless Dalot.

I have no hope for Hojlund anymore, that was the most rubbish performance from a CF I've ever seen from recent memory. Really need to get a striker in before the window closes. Osimhen to us, Rashford to Napoli and Hojlund to Gala (Loan).

We played almost the most attacking starting 11 that we can in a 5-2-2-1 formation and did not really create anything. Yes, We could go with Amad as a wingback and become even more attacking but that will leave us even more vulnerable in defense and we were already struggling defensively last night. Would replacing Dalot and/or Mazraohi really make us that much better defensively and going forward?

Amad`s finger was offside. That was clear and obvious for the VAR-ref:

Contender to one of the worst game of the season. The physical dominance other teams have over us is worrying. The only highlight of the game are away fans. They are amazing.

He is still only 17, the beasts at CB in the PL will mince him but it would be great to see him get some minutes. By the way, the Fulham CB was manhandling Hojlund all game never got penalised

We need a run of scrappy wins over the next few weeks. Build a bit of momentum and try to maybe start pushing for the top 8.
