How awful was the coverage by the way? Missed loads of shit and didn't have replays of other stuff as well (including Martial's attempted bicycle kick)

Delighted we're through. A great spell for a bit in the 1st half, the best I've seen from an LVG United.

Extra time would have flattered Everton. Dodgy pen they've got and a clear pen denied with the Jagielka handball (which could have been red too).

Martial is a player. Bigger pitch suits him well.

Danny Murphy is insufferable.

I'm loving that celebration for the winner. A lot of passion from both the players and the fans, good scenes.

I agree. I was constantly thinking 'can we see the feckin match?' when they put up yet another really slow replay and missed a passage of play. There was one when we were nearly in on goal before they brought it off the replay.

Honestly one of the best nights I've had in ages and I wasn't even at the game. Recently moved to Manchester and watched it locally, absolutely brilliant!

loving the interplay from Martial, Rashford, and Lingard. This team will be exciting to watch again very soon. Fellaini was big today. Should have had a pen on what would have been Felainis second goal. Thought Martial should have been taken off after his injury...or at least that he was going to be taken off. Glad he didn't.

Two separate issues surely? Can enjoy the win and still want LVG gone?

Absolutely. Two things aren't mutually exclusive. The thing is, this Jose guy everyone wants regularly has a pop at referees. Even our own SAF.

We get it. There are posters that want LVG gone, regardless of what the result is. And some even prefer to lose so he gets out the door quicker. They have made 10,000 such posts in this forum. They can make another 10,000 more tomorrow.

But today let's celebrate the win. A great match for both sets of fans and neutrals. Our much vilified ex-Everton player stood up to be counted today. Our captain played a lot better than much of this season. De Gea was magnificent. Our youth Martial, Lingard and Rashford played their hearts out. Looking at the way we usually capitulate, today we bounced back from an own goal and soaked up the pressure. We were denied many calls frustratingly.

But we won at the last. Let's enjoy that for now.

With you absolutely. What a win. Honestly enjoyed this one from start to finish and didn't (well not really) think about LVG during match and that was something to be cherished in itself.

Nothing wrong with that. But there are some that are upset that we won and are more worried about LVG possible staying than enjoying getting into the FA Cup final.

The fact that so many people want him gone still (me too) despite getting us into an FA cup final is a sad but damning indictment of his regime as a whole.

Yes. Just like I can enjoy the win and still moan about my shitty day but chose not to, especially when most just want to savour the victory. Find the right time and place.

Hope this fantastic win made your day a little better. That's what United is all about isn't it. Bringing a smile to our faces when we watch them place. That's the thing LVG doesn't get. But hey I'm laying off him today. What a win!

An excellent game of football. A proper cup tie. Kudos to Everton for giving it a go in the second half when I was expecting nothing but a meek surrender.

Some of the interplay from our front three was brilliant to watch. Rashford, Martial & Lingard were amazing.
Rooney's first half midfield display was the best I have seen from a United central midfielder in three years. The second half showed why he is not a long term option there.
Never thought I would say this, but Fellaini was brilliant and I was pissed when he was taken off.
Martial is a joy to watch.
De Gea is the best thing since sliced bread.

FA cup final!

When we listened live, it sounded like Everton were destroying us, watching the replay though it was about a 60-40 Evertons way. I have to say after watching.... That was a bit of a scorpy win. Everton really should have won that with the amount of good chances they had. Cleverley and Lukaku both missed excellent almost tap-in style chances.

I haven't taken a position on this yet, but you could equally argue that this is a sad but damning indictment of the short termism of modern fans and media.

Nah, we really should've kept a clean sheet tbh. Maybe the highlights were misleading, because I thought we were unlucky to concede.

No, I watched the replay. The full match. (I usually do when I miss it while at work).

Cleverley blazed a tap in over. Besic really should have buried a header at the back post stolen by Lukaku who smashed one over. Cleverley again had a volley almost on the six yard box that he should have been getting on target. We had some good chances in the first half that we should have scored. They were all over us in the second, just gave the impression that if they had have gotten one of those chances around 45-60 mins we'd have folded and let in about four or five. The OG had an air of chalkyness about it, how late it was made them kind of take stock and hold on and be stuck between going for it or playing for XT.

Well, let's not turn this into a LVG out debate. But if LVG asks us to change our expectations because we are not the United of old, then he should be bound by the expectations of the so called modern fans as well. But two years of sh*t on a stick football, lowering of expectations and unjustified arrogance for me is sufficient evidence for me. To each his own.

It wasn't a tap in for Cleverley. You fail to mention that we should've had a penalty and redcard for Jagielka when he clearly used his hand to stop a goal. 2-0 and the match was over there, unfortunately the referee wanted to inject some excitement in the match.

He at least should have hit the target and if he's hitting the target it isn't being saved by St. David. I felt the keeper would have saved that had Jags not been there to use his hand. I also can't really blame the referee for not seeing that, no idea how he could have to be honest.

I did mention above that we had some good spells but that momentum Everton had in the second half was painful to listen to live, on watching the video they probably should have scored at least twice and like I said, I feel if they had have scored early enough they'd have torn right through us.

A chalker, but who cares? We're going to Wembley!

Was a fantastic game, proper domestic cup tie that we haven't had in years. Didn't see the Jagielka handball, despite being sat almost right behind it, will have to check that out again.

Thought we were deserved winners but Everton had us running scared for a bit in the 2nd half. Van Gaal was far too slow to make a sub to avert the obvious change in the tide of the game.

Thankfully we have some world class talent on the pitch.

That United end was mental at the end. Think I've done my knee in.

Oh and Anthony Martial's new chant is class.

The interplay between the forwards was superb. Martials goal brought my soul to life for the first time in 3 years.

Nah. We should have been out of sight in the first half itself. Lingard missed a good chance. Then there was the chance for Martial when he blazed it over. That is without even considering that Everton should have conceded a penalty and Jagielka should have been shown a straight red as well.

Everton did dominate us for about 20 mins in the second half but to say we would have folded and let in 3-4 if they had scored early is being naive at best. In all probability we would have not sat back as much if we conceded early as was seen by us attacking them more after the OG. As for the chances you mention, Cleverley at the far post was their best from open play. The Besic header was very difficult so to say he would have scored from that is not really true. If we atart counting such chances then every header in the box will be considered a goal.

Yes, I originally mentioned we had a good first half above. Only after I watched the replay did I understand the extent of the period that Everton had just after the break.

It really could have gone either way. If either team had won 4-3 it wouldn't have been a shock - that's how many chances both sides had. I'd say Everton had more clear-cut chances, but thankfully Lukaku's veins are filled with blood, not ice like Martial.

Gutted to have missed this sounds like it was a great game.

Fantastic being there, thought we played very well in patches and by far the best we have been for a while. Everton came back into and credit to the for that (perhaps played for themselves other that the manager).

Class from Baines on that tunnel cam thought he would be on pens.

Seperate note, couldn't imagine playing Liverpool at Wembley, after the game could be carnage, doesn't seem anything in place to keep fans apart.

I thought we didn't play well and were safed by Everton being at their worst for years. The occasion was exciting and obviously the ending was brilliant though.

I love how Martial clearly just wants to get into the room to celebrate, but gets hauled off for a drug test. Poor timing for the kid!
Not surprising though. From our team, only he and De Gea are worthy of even being tested for doping. I wouldn't believe it about any of the others, really.

Best game of the season without a doubt! David de Gea simply the best goalie in the world...feck off Neuer, Lloris and Hart. I was worried about extra time cause we probably would have gone down during that and penalties would have been a surefire car crash.

I will revel in the victory today and try not to spoil it by not thinking about the implications for van Gaal's future. At least 4th is beyond us so I'm happy about that.....but c'mon Wemberleeeeeeeeeee! :D

They were a lot worse a few weeks ago, I actually thought they looked a decent side in the 2nd half.

We were unlucky not to have a pen and a red card at 1 0, so if anything they were saved.

Was that because of us I wonder? I'm not denying they were lucky regarding some decisions, but we should win comfortably against them considering their form. Then again we don't do comfortably under van Gaal, so it isn't surprising, but I want United to be better.

It was a Cup game - and a semi-final to boot - they couldn't have got any worse and they were bound to have a go.

Can't people just be happy we came through it rather than over-analysing every-fecking-thing?

I am happy. Doesn't change the fact that I still want to talk football rationally. It's really not that hard separating being happy about going through to the final and talking about what we can do better in retrospect of the game.

It's a cup game, form really doesn't matter. We could have been 3 up at half time. That's the best we have played for quite some time, we had a bad 25 mins where we looked nervous but that happens.

Just watched the hls again because my internet was fecking crap yesterday and I'm happy with the win but Jesus, Lukaku was fecking awful. I'd say even more awful than our finishing in the first half.

One of the most absurd games of football I've ever seen I have to say. How the penalty and red for Jagielka was not given is still beyond me, only the 'couldn't see shit' argument is somehow defending that fat bald cnut.
