I disagree, I thought he was a revelation on the left - some great play that turned Everton's defense inside out at times - Good to know he can play there when we need him to.
I mean he did well there, don't get me wrong. But I want to see him up top.

Smith has been featured a lot in "The Anfield Wrap" so I assume he's a Liverpool fan. Either way, The Times used to have some bloody good football writers but, like the Telegraph I suppose they're just using headlines like this for clickbait. I stopped buying it when Murdoch bought it. I miss the crossword but the one in the Guardian isn't bad.

It's also free. And there's thousands of 'em. :smirk:

I'd say injuries aside, if Rooney was the player of old, we'd be saying this team is emerging as something very very special.

So glad we played well, we needed a performance and result after the humiliation and we got it. I didn't get to watch the game but I've heard good things.

Looking forward to MOTD tonight to see it

Brilliant, what we needed, another bounce back like that after a loss (and international break).
Keeper is brilliant,
defence was solid
midfield was dynamic, creative, and mobile
Attack was full of goals and dangerous.

Great combination. Pretty much same team has to start against City. Rest a few for the game in Moscow (bring in Memphis, Blind, Carrick, Valencia, Young if they are all fit).

Great performance. Good possession with some good incisive attacking play in the first half and very well played counter-attacking display in the second half.

Really good performance, pretty much in complete control bar that 15 minute spell before we scored the 3rd.

3-0 away from home against Everton is a terrific result.

Yep, don't see anyone beating that result this season at Goodison.

Managed to avoid the score all day & just watched the full game.

Best performance under LVG for me. Don't want to bash Rooney but he was our poorest player, gave so many simple passes away.

Smalling is developing into something really special, dominant, comfortable on the ball & commanding. Impressed with the two holding midfielders with Herrera in front, it gave us far more mobility in there which was key in the attacking phases today.

Martial was excellent, the boy is absolute mustard. I genuinely think we have an absolute potential world star in him.

Good to see Lingaard get some minutes too. Great way to get us ready for next week.

Like what you've said here. Dirty feckers those journalists!

The world we live in where a big bearded Geordie on YouTube talks more sense than football journalists for national newspapers.

What was striking was the tempo of our passing. I think a lot of that was down to Herrera. He makes us tick. At a higher bpm.

One of the biggest positives I'm taking from this is the performance of the Jones/Smalling combination - they looked sharp. Phil looked at least as good as Blind has been this year, I trust him more.

If you're into gaming and FIFA check out his gaming channel, 'TrueGeordieGaming'. His anger at the game is hilarious. Best FIFA Youtuber for me.

Thanks but I have already watched almost all of them.

Did you see "It's a conspiracy lads"?

I disagree. I thought this was his best game of the year. He did give the ball away a few times but he was a definite threat today and seems to be gaining confidence.

Indeed. His Blackburn career mode in FIFA 15 are his best videos for me.

When he signed all those players on loan, only for them to slowly disappear one by one after a few weeks

I was hoping he'd continue with that career, seems to have gone with Newcastle this year though.

Lol, yeah. I constantly rewatch this episode:

Mainly for 7:25 - 8:18, his reaction to Rhodes' three shots makes me laugh every time. The whole episode is so funny though. The game is totally against him.

I've never seen them before. I watched the video you posted and I'm going to watch the whole series now so if I fail my 4th year of college, it's on you.

We need to discuss the 3-0 goal. Rooney, being an Everton fan, clearly opted to pass the ball into the arms of Howard, but Howard, probably still loving United, quickly reacted and "fell" to his right to let the shot that went straight at him in. That was a weird goal, it really was.

Amazing that we only had 46% of possession. Maybe LVG realise it's not that important after all.

Can't really complain at that. Only annoying thing about it is we should have played that midfield three against Arsenal.

Still, didn't think anyone did badly. Schneiderlin had his best game for us by a mile. Herrera was great in the first half, Martial was great in the second. Smalling was excellent.

First game this season where we haven't had to carry anyone and first time we've put in a solid 90 minute performance.

Thought 3-0 was a bit flattering, but the only time we looked troubled was just after half time when the ref suddenly decided crowd noises dictated what was and wasn't a foul.

Ross Barkley is so infuriating to watch he even annoys we when he's fannying around against United. He just can't bring himself to pass the ball without pissing around trying to get a shot off for about 30 seconds first. JUST PASS THE FECKING BALL!

Just watched the game. Very impressed with the defense of the entire team and the fact that Mata/Martial tracked back way further than our wingers has done so far this season. Some full sprint runs from them as well trying to keep their full back from effectively joining in during the attack and Martial kept Coleman quiet while getting the best of him several times over the game.

Smalling and Jones had pretty flawless games, you have to look for very minor details to be able to criticize them at all. Rojo was surprisingly good as a left back and Darmian was his usual solid self. I thought that finally Mata/Herrera found Darmian far out wide whenever Mata had cut inside and dragged his marker with him. Some better final touches needed though from Darmian in those situations.

Herrera MOTM for me with the two centre backs very close behind, but overall I don't think we were so dominating that I've read some people say.

Cheers:
  • Ander fecking Herrera
  • Chris fecking Smalling
  • The luxury of being able to sub in Carrick for Bastian
Jeers:
  • Not being able to celebrate Ander's goal because I was mortified by the sight of Martial rolling around on the ground
  • Still worried about our lack of depth in forwards
  • Imagining this squad playing like this with a healthy Luke Shaw.

We also had less possession when we beat Arsenal two years ago under Moyes....with Jones in midfield :)

We controlled the match...as we did today...totally.

Its control of how the match is played that is important. We have the players and the team to do just that. We simply need to play to their strengths.

Stay calm...and I can see us winning the title.

He was poor. Gave too many easy passes away and one resulted to an Everton chance. He knew this. Second half, he was extremely cautious and some point you could see he was even afraid to pass the ball.
