Couldn't care less about result because We dominated possesion, that's a win in my book.

It's worrying how shit we are without Carrick.

Disgusted by that result. We're throwing away all the momentum we've built up in the last month. Our use of possession is becoming pointless as it was earlier in the season. Carrick is clearly a big miss in midfield for us. He can dictate a game so well from there and protect our defenders.

Top 4 is back in doubt again if we let this blip continue.

Maybe Mourinho was onto something?

Is it any coincidence that after we land on a successful "formula", our next two opponents find an effective strategy to neutralize our system and beat us? I'd love to blame it all on Carrick's absence but it's so much more than that.

The system is not creating goals, and as we learned from RAWK, we need to score goals to win games.
I think it's what a lot of us have said for a long time - we need more pace up front. Every single time we attacked, Everton had the time to leisurely fill the box with all their players before we bothered to get a cross in.

Must get back to winning ways against West Brom.

Really disappointed with the second half performance. Knowing we needed to come out and be threatening, we did the exact same as in the first half and passed it around pointlessly. Massive defensive errors and absolutely nothing going forward. No positives from that whatsoever.

We are 8 points (with goal difference) ahead of Liverpool with 4 games to go, its over as far as Top 4 goes imo.

We are just doing the usual thing of trying to make it as hard as we can for ourselves.

7 and they've a game in hand. Stranger things have happened. To us.

It's all well and good having good possession, but we had no absolutely no quality going forward today. Unfortunately this was combined with no quality at the back today and we paid a heavy price. I thought we were past the period in the season where our defending was amateurish, but apparently not. The early counter can happen. The corners were shocking, and Valencia just switching off for the third was infuriating.

Annoying that we are dragged back into a top 4 race, after all our big wins.

Not too concerned.... We started off well, got a bad bit of luck with their goal, didn't take our chances after that and then conceded from the corner and after that we collectively lost confidence. Second half was shit but too many just had off days.

Aside from the Fellaini chance early on, we created very little. Even that chance was more of a capitalization from a mistake. I said in the match day thread. Very similar to Moyes' last game. Lot of the ball, no penetration and killed on the counter.

Shit happens at times and today was a games where nothing went right.

Need to move on, bounce back and do better in the next few games.

Tactics appeared to be: randomly hit crosses in to the box and cross your fingers that a United player is near it. Don't actually aim for a runner or anything like that, just ping it in 500 times and play the percentages.

Shocking. Fellaini scores who knows what could have happened but we deserved nothing from that. A whole second half and we created the square root of jack shit.

Forget about this result.......we were sucker punched three times. Time to beat West Brom at Old Trafford next week and we will be back on track.

Still we can't be complacent.

That third goal was a classic case of playing to the whistle. Why did the players just stop when there was no flag and definitely no whistle. Valencia is an average FB who was shown up today. Falcao should be got rid of as soon as his loan ends. No where near tje quality of striker we need. No pace, cannot hold up the ball. Di Maria seemed like he wanted to hit the ball to someone in the stands. All his crosses were so overhit. No positives from today's game. Really disappointing. Ruined my Sunday.

Worst performance for a long time

McNair had an absolute nightmare , nothing much went right for anyone though and everything was too slow

Carrick back pls asap and either Jones/Rojo to replace McNair who is so inconsistent because of his youth

Very sluggish performance right from the off. Credit to Everton and Martinez they played us like a fiddle, they were first to all the loose balls and always had a man in space when in and out of possession. We just weren't at the races and I don't know why it was basically the same team that played Chelsea and should have won.

The 2nd goal killed us. I didn't see any fight or urgency after that, or before to be honest. Very poor from us and infuriating really because we should now be sitting 2nd waiting for the inevitable draw in the Chelsea/Arsenal game but now we are sweating on 4th again and hoping Liverpool continue being shit.

FFS.

A performance reminiscent of early season, with no cutting edge, aimlessly passing the ball about with no service at the end of it. The whole team was poor, with maybe the exception of Shaw and Smalling. To be fair to Everton though, I thought they were very good. Well organised, disciplined, with excellent performances from Barry, McCarthy and Coleman. They took their chances and probably deserved to win comfortably.

'Sit back, wait for them to make a mistake and score' simple for opposition managers when we play like this

Nothing to take from this game, all the players under performed, we were bad individually and collectively, and it happens. The next game will be a new game.

No Carrick, No Party...:(

Meh..we'll still get top 4. 2nd was always a pipe dream with the way we played most of the season. A good reminder that this team and the manager has a long way to go before we can challenge. Winning posession battles means nothing if you don't create chances from keeping that ball.

Need to have a good transfer window. A top RB, CB and "the next Carrick" are an absolute must. May be a first choice striker too.

Can't really do much when you're forced to play a 19 year old central midfielder turned centre back against lukaku away from home. Its clear that we need to shore up the defence. We need to buy a dependable STAR centreback to lead this team. Valencia has played well this season but we need a proper fullback who doesn't fall asleep defending.

I thought Daley Blind was terrible too. Just not able to physically match everton and was caught out of position so many times on the break. He is nowhere near the level of Carrick and its probably one area where we need to reinforce in the summer. Boy oh boy do we miss Michael Carrick. Two losses with him being absent the last two matches.

The two players who did well were Shaw and Smalling. They were still to blame for some of our goals conceded but both were solid in their defending and Shaw really fashioned most of our best chances with his runs.

The rest of the midfield and attack were subpar. Lots of possession but we never could break through everton. Credit to their defence because they are an exceptionally organized team..no surprise there. They just sat back and dared us to break them down..which we couldn't. Its like all our problems from 2012-2013 are coming back again

At the end of the day, Young and Fellaini make fantastic squad players. However, if you're aspiring to win the Premier League and Champions League those two players should not be in your first eleven. At least not as your key players. We need to find a way to incorporate Di Maria back in the lineup because he clearly can provide us the cutting edge we need in the final third.

In which universe was Falcao the best option off the bench?

We didn't play too badly in the first half, had a few decent chances. Stopped playing at all after the subs.

We never got anything going down the left side until we were 3 down. Everton were happy to let Valencia have it on the right.

Valencia: awful fullback who is sometimes almost acceptable due to his physical attributes if he's surrounded by good players in form (Mata and Herrera).

(Why did the thread get remade?)

We were shite. No doubt about. I am still confident we will get top 4 despite giving Liverpool a chance to get within 4 points.

Terrible.

Too many players going through the motions/anonymous throughout the whole match. Fail marks for all bar Smalling & possibly Shaw.

LvG tactically outclassed for the 2nd week in a row too & showing an inability to change the way his side were playing. It's obvious when we play sides set up like Chelsea/Everton that you've got to let them come on to you more and deliberately concede some possession in order to create space.

The game was lost when Fellaini got booked. Completely nullified him and not bringing him off until half time completely wasted a third of the game.

Bizarrely the only person who wasn't affected by that incident was Barkley, the diving cnut. But the scoreline and result ensures that is kept off the back pages tomorrow morning.

Second half played out like a testimonial for someone our players couldn't stand.

We had a touch of the Arsenal about us today, go on a good run, then pass & pass & pass and get hit on the counter.

One of those days, not enough reason to speculate that we're undergoing some severe regression stylistically, or that we've been found out, or some of the other bollocks I've had the displeasure of reading during the past hour.

The goals conceded were abysmal. When your defenders are going to behave like that then tactics and game plan get thrown out the window.

This might be the kick up the arse we need, however. We've got the points when we've needed them all season long and I expect it to continue next week with a victory.

Arsenal don't play mindless cross after cross after cross after cross after cross after cross after cross after cross after cross after cross after cross after cross after cross after cross after cross
