PL L FA Premier League

Manchester United 0:2 Crystal Palace

Post-match discussion

Sun, 02 February 2025

These are the type of games that kill me the most, where the whole team is like a limp dick with no energy or idea how to turn it around, just go through the motions and then a shrug of the shoulders.

Criminal that we went so long without putting a striker on. No matter how shite they’ve been, it was quite clear that what we were trying without them wasn’t working. Then we are back to hoping for a miracle date CP take the lead.

Definitely not. Eriksen could not be further away from being suited to the Premier League.

No legs whatsoever. No positional discipline.
When chasing a goal, Eriksen can still be a difference maker. I thought he would come on the same time as Höjlund and Zirkzee. The 87th minute was way too late imo.

Loads of feckers are saying he should be sacked  It’s not too difficult to find the posts. There’s no weird attachment going on here. You’re quick to jump to calling names.

It’s pretty fecking obvious that a manager isn’t infallible. It should also be clear that the squad is shite and you’re hinting that he should be sacked soon is total reactionary bullshit.

There’s too many “any manager should be able to do better than this” type posts going about. People can’t seem to see that we’re a very average side who are exactly where we should be.

Criminally poor transfer business and under funding everything around the club for 20 years has finally come home to roost. It takes longer than 3/4 months to fix on the pitch.

He needs time and not for the fans to yet again jump on a bandwagon of pressuring every fecking poor result out of some warped perspective that we’re better than we are, or that we have a right to win.

I was specifically talking about myself and the exchange we're having. "no one is saying" being a colloquialism as evidently - I can't speak for anybody else.

I didn't call you names - you replied to me in a defensive manner because I said the manager should be questioned. Your second replies makes reference to sacking, which again, wasn't an implication I made - so you're either reading that due to being defensive or a sense of attachment - and that isn't name calling.

United being shit is the reason he was brought in - I've even provided you with direct quotes used in an article from a relatively reputable source. He's currently failing to justify said reasoning. I didn't "hint" at that he needs to be sacked soon. I outright said he needs to be questioned and find solutions soon. You don't address deficiencies by pretending they don't exist and justifying everything with "poor transfer business". A manager is supposed to manage. If you don't believe one can find solutions, then what's the point of having them? For the record, there's no expectations of Ruben competing at the top of the table - however; there's a middle ground between that, mind-numbingly poor performances and 14 points in 39 with 7 losses in 13 games.

Our summer transfer business looks more and more hopeless by the week. The one good signing we made is mainly good in a position that doesn't feature in this system. Ineos want to keep telling us job cuts and ticket price rises are necessary to stop us losing money but we have wasted a ton of money pn transfers that haven't improved the team

He did make a difference.

Sadly, a massively negative one. He is simply not up to the Premier league these days.

Can't you understand that he inherited a shite team.
No matter who the manager you get to United at this point in time won't make any difference to Amorin.

Rangnick was right all along and probably even Mourinho.

I watched this match in an Irish bar in Malta, as we’re away on a short break to avoid some of the winter weather.
The place was quite large with several screens, but was empty apart from me and 2 other blokes (one of those came in with only 20 minutes to go).
It may be February, but the barmaid said that in the past, United games would always get a big crowd in, even in winter.
No longer it appears.
I wish I hadn’t bothered.

I cannot believe we sacked of Ralf entirely and gave Hag a free rein for transfers. This still hurts me.

He didn't inherit a team that's not better than the current level of points accumulated under him. Sure the squad isn't good enough but it's a lot better than what the results have yielded.

Going to Malta in early May. Hope we will have managed to get over the 40 points safety line by then. Oh the excitement!

Thought we actually played a bit better today all be it Maz couldn't pass to save his life and several players not least Bruno kept suicidally giving the ball away with stupid passes in our own half, no cutting edge though, until we start scoring we are always going to get rattled and give goals away

Shit traffic, shit coffee, shit slow build up, shit performance, shit cold weather, shit formation, shit injury, shit result, shit use of petrol, shit day.

Odd team selection. Kobbie played well as a 10 last time out so we move him to false 9? I know our strikers are crap but you still have to play one.

And don't get me started on picking five defenders at home again.
That's the formation, home or away. And the WBs aren't really defenders.

I can understand people questioning Ruben’s tactics and the system, given the results.

But they are forgetting that we were shite under previous managers playing a whole host of systems too.

Changing from a back three to a back four won’t change the types of goals we are leaking.

It’s the players.

However, I do think they could be better coached at defending set pieces and Amorim has highlighted that at least.
Zonal marking simply doesn’t work.

I feel for you man. Couldn’t have been fun watching that crap today. I’m there at the next game and not looking forward to it!

What we've been doing just isn't working, and I don't see it working to any great extent even with 3-4 new signings. So we really should try something different.

Really, what do you even say at this point, other than I hope we don't legitimately fall into a relegation battle?

3 wins, a draw and 10 defeats should see us safely over the 40 point line.

.
Looking through our fixtures and it's actually difficult to see where three wins come from.

Spurs (A) No. Maybe a draw.

Everton (A) Moyes has them on a new manager bounce. I doubt we win there now.

Ipswich (H) It really fecking needs to be 3 points.

Arsenal (H) No chance.

Leicester (A) Has to be.

Forest (A) Nope.

City (H) No.

Newcastle (A) Not a prayer. We never perform there anymore.

Wolves (H) Maybe.

Bournemouth (A) Unlikely.

Brentford (A) Unlikely again.

West Ham (H) Needs to be 3 points.

Chelsea (A) No.

Villa (H) Maybe.

It’s looking pretty grim to say the least. This has to be rock bottom right? From next season it has to be the start of the upward curve??

Mourinho said it.

Ole said it (if you listen to the end of his first season that began as an interim)

Ragnick said it.

I don't understand how anyone that watched United during the SAF years or watches other top today can't see it either.

The post you quoted says this:

so yes, I do understand he has inherited a shit team.

Do you understand that he was brought him because

Has it been mentioned that we only need to switch to a back four to unlock us?
No but it has been mentioned that we brought in a clear system a few months ago. We will rid the players who doesent fit and get in players who do. Painfull yes, but necessary.

That's telling. The Maltese fans used to be a most fanatical bunch. Shame if they're giving up.

Standard home loss to a bang average team.. Palace have had a weeks training to look at our obvious weaknesses, meanwhile we had 1 day to prepare so winged it a usual.
I genuinely think if we had a top striker and two top class fast powerful wingbacks we could do much better but we haven't and we are shit.

Very depressing day! Everytime you think we are turning a corner we manage to cock it up. Poor Performance today and have to say starting without a striker was a weird decision for me

How is our passing so bad every season? How can we sustain any pressure if we give the ball away every three passes.

Amorim's decision making this game was terrible.

Hey I’m trusting the process, even if it has to hurt for now.

Look at the table! United have almost double the points of the 18th placed team...there is literally zero fecking chance of relegation.

Shite form yes...relegation! no, laughable to even mention it tbh.

Ruben is right, zero leaders in this team. Bruno is a moaning captain who just likes to complain to the ref about everything . That’s not a leader
