Fantastic result. I am really happy for Rooney. Seemed to stay up the pitch more and it paid off for him. Memphis important again. I don't think there is any club in the other pots that will be happy to meeting us in the group stage. Now let's do this consistently.

PS. Another clean sheet for Blind.

That was great, Brugge may not be Barcelona but you can only beat what's put on front of you.

Herrera the point of a 3 man midfield/number 10 instead of Adnan is our best natural shape. It was a joy to watch those 15-20 minutes into the second half.

Freaking loved that look! Giggs didn't know what to do or say. It was almost as if to say well it's Hernandez what did you expect? In a good performance that was my favourite moment for the comedy haha.

Much better performance tonight. Rooney back on song? Let's hope so because it seems our back up striker can't score for toffee.

Good performances all around and moved the ball much better. And another clean sheet!

Good performance, albeit poor opposition. Good confidence builder for Rooney & Herrera. Chicha looked truly abysmal though. Worst 20 minute cameo I've seen from a United player. Missed a pen, couldn't control a ball & missed a open goal. :(

Enjoyable game. In the 1st we were a little light in midfield but stepped it up in the 2nd, nice touches, nice counter and overall good game. Herrera must start next game.
Also glad for Rooney I hope this means his form is back, played like a proper striker.
Him and Memphis have a nice understanding with each other too.
Shaw was immense also.

Whats nice about that little vine is that it shows LVG does care about what Giggsy thinks. Definitely an I told you so kind of look.

For anyone saying how crap Brugge are etc; it's worth remembering that we have often struggled badly against utter wank opposition in recent years. It wasn't just the win tonight, it was the sheer domination along with some great attacking play. Obviously we need to take this form over to league form but this is hopefully a turning point for us when our play starts improving in the final third.

Wouldn't base too much on the 2nd half. At the start there was open space as they were pushing and then they almost gave up.

It was a great performance but it was only Bruge.

My biggest fear is that LVG will think Rooney will bang in 30 this season now and buy nobody to backup or replace him.

Just done my ratings and oddly I think my average was actually lower than the Newcastle match, just because nobody really had to do anything that special. They were rubbish, but we did the job.

The last 20 mins or so was kinda boring...
 If we can be bored for similar reasons then I'll be a happy man.

Personally, the feeling of being totally relaxed for the last half hour of a game is a one sorely missed!

Solid close out to the tie. Shame to see a player so low in confidence as Hernandez.

great watch, loved that. they had to leave themselves open though, hopefully we can produce results like this against a team defending deep and in numbers too.

Very good performance although it was always going to be easy attacking wise in 2nd half as they had to get 3 goals. Nice play between front players, especially Rooney and Memphis, Mata doing decently too and Herrera excelling in no. 10 role. Feel sad for Chicharito. Not sure we have enough time to ship him and get some big name in remaining 4-5 days. It can just be a bad night for him though, and if he stays I hope he will overcome it.

First 20/25 minutes of 2nd half was the best we have played for quite a while
As expected Rooney always needs a few matches to get going and played very well today- well taken hat-trick
Adnan was particularly poor first half, Herrera & Blind few dodgy moments
We looked so good with Schweini on and Herrera moved further up. Would like to see this more often .
Chicharito had a bit of a mare

5 matches and the only player to score against us is Carrick

Something isn't right there with Chicharito, he just lost his spark after that penalty. The Hernandez I know just keeps going.

Guess he's had to see an out of form player chosen ahead of him and now Rooneys scored a hatrick I guess he knows the small hope he had of starting a game has gone.

So what did we learn? Well...

1. Rooney may be back? After his first he really relaxed and started to play with a bit of enjoyment.
2. When we play with pace we do look a threat. We have the players in the side who can move the ball with pace.
3. Smalling is a beast. Seems determined every game to keep a clean sheet no matter where he has to sniff out the danger.
4. Blinds distribution from the back at times is a great platform for us to build attacks. I'd just like him to put more pace on his passes more often.
5. Memphis again showed what he can do with a bit of space.
6. Romero actually gives me the hebby jebbies... He's dodgy! Lots of clean sheets but not really down to him.
7. Herrera should start! He brings energy and creativity and pace. He gets forward from midfield and brings tempo. LVG needs to find a way to get him in the team!
8. LVG has one hell of a death stare!

It was a very good performance and going forwards was much much better. But it was Brugge who aren't a great team. What we showed tonight was when teams come out to play we can hurt them. I expect Swansea to do just that this weekend which should help us.
