I fear Brighton is our level now. In fairness they have strengthened but this doesn’t happen to City or Arsenal.

Anybody thinks that was good or we finish top 4 is dreaming. Poor performance, poor players, poor subs.. VERY poor manager

"Fan". Should be banned for this
It shows he a good fan, he understands us well and he lives in reality to the point it made him money. If that's not a sign there's a problem nothing is, fans know exactly how we'll lose right down to the minute.

You think we have a mentally strong team?

No. But I don't think we have a mentally weak team either. I don't think it's an issue with mentality. It's more to do with our set up and how we want to play

After watching the fat wife, going to watch my sexy mistress Man City now to remember what a good football team plays like.

You can say we were unlucky but their winning goal? Where the hell was the defence? Non existent. And we have Liverpool next. Doesnt bode well.

Deserving loss. After the subs, we sort of lost our shape. Garnacho was the only effective sub.

Yet it's happening for years, under different managers, with different setups.
I'm just tired

Every week I keep thinking I don’t even mind if we lose I just don’t want to be traumatised. Stop conceding in the last fecking minute.

Close to £100 million spent on the back 4 this summer and same comedic defending. Silly and unforgivable errors by Maguire, Martinez and Dalot on both goals. Sort out the back 4 and drop Rashford!

We look like a team that will finish 6th-8th and sadly with the ability of the manager and the players that is probably about all you can expect.

Even if the offside goal had counted I don’t think we’d have held on for a win, I expect to watch that same level of performance week in week out and ETah’s job will depend on how many fine margins fall in his favour because I don’t see us winning many games comfortably.

Such a cruel game.

Some real improvements (or progress towards improvements) but still a long way to go.

The Bruno/Mount press does work well to a degree...but long term it's not a great solution...however the current alternatives are lacking creatively.

1-1 draw would of been fair, but now Liverpool becomes a lot bigger than it needed to be, lose again and it's back to a media crisis and do or die.

United gave the fans 1.5 weeks of relative smooth sailing haha.

Our famous mentality midgets strike again.

Those demanding EtH out, ask yourself who Dan Ashworth would want as his replacement.

Same mentality issue we had under Jose, Ole, Lvg and indeed Rangnick.

No pelters, but I would not pin this all on Bruno. He’s our best player but ETH is wasting him as a false 9. If ETH insists on starting Rashford, which is psychotic but it is what is, then have him up top with Bruno at his natural position and Garnacho left.
I just think Bruno is getting over hyped now, he’s still very creative but he also brings issues when trying to control a game.

ETH is definitely his own worst enemy though, Rashford should not be in the first 11, he just doesn’t have the confidence, attitude or appetite for it.

If Bruno plays and we go with a standard 3 up front then you have to drop one of Mainoo or Casemiro for Mount or we’ll lose the midfield battle against anyone.

Both goals came from defensive mistakes. So poor defensively. No organization at the back. This falls squarely on the managers shoulders. Cannot seem to organize a defense to save his life. So poor. ETH has had two whole seasons to fix this and he has done square root of feck all.

Yeah this is pretty much it, the more histrionic posters might be crying more of the same, but it's very different - we were well on top in the first half, recovered well in the second, and would have gone ahead if not for the unluckiest offside we'll see all season.
Do you see us finishing top 4 this season? I don't.

Sigh. Not a good result at all. I had to work and couldn’t watch the game but it seems to me that I missed a heartbreaker. ETH has his work cut out for him

Both goals were due to poor defending.

We can barely score legal goals. But if we keep making silly defensive mistakes like those, we are in for another long long season.

The issue for me is not the defense. Its goals. We don't create enough chances and don't score enough. That puts all the pressure on our defense to perform perfectly. Goals change games and we won't score enough of them as our attack doesn't have enough bite.

How easily they we lose the ball and the lack of urgency is infuriating. I feel like we were content with a draw. Disappointing

It could have gone either way. Some things could and should've been done differently today, but apart from a couple of traditional personal errors, I think the organisation has been improved. I believe that we'll be much better once we get more options in midfield. Also, the lack of a left back is a big big handicap. Getting Rasmus back will be important too.

I like Zirkzees vision. That is a positive for me today. Rashford is a big problem though, and it has to be addressed. We can't keep playing him just because he scored 30 goals in a season. That feels like ages ago.

When Leny, Rasmus and Shaw's back + a midfielder, i'm confident we will be much better than last year.

I hope we are going to get another striker in the next few days. Or single digit goal difference will once again be our feature

Probably but why so indecisive with the tap in?!? With all the post to aim for he still managed to scuff the shot. Second week in a row

Does Garnacho's shot go in without Zirkzee redirecting with his knee, because that angle looks like it could have just gone wide of the other post.

Subs cost us the game, but what really cost us is our inability to handle pressure. Casemiro and Onana are absolutely horrendous at retaining possession late in the game, Onana is infuriating because he takes so fecking long on the ball every time that he just invites the press onto us.
That's the point. If they don't press we can't beat it.
All ball playing keepers do it.

We were unfortunate to lose. I thought a draw would have been the right result. Overall, just like last week I though we played pretty well and I like the direction we are headed.

- Their winger Minteh was just more dangerous than both of our wingers combined
- Unfortunate we had to endure bad Fernandez today
- ETH is learning, he actually subbed both Rashford and Fernandez.
- Until Diallo scored, was he going to be the sub for Garnacho?
- I'm ready for De Light and Zirkzee to start
- Not sure what Maguire was thinking with the first goal. That ball was curving and never going out.
- Amad needs to pick it up and start thinking ahead instead of just reacting to the situation

That was a decent away performance against a good Brighton side.

Hearing "we weren't that bad today" is frustrating. It's true we weren't that bad, but our standards aren't high enough.

We're a mixed bag every game. Some good bits, some horrendous bits. Some good spells, some bad spells.

It's not enough to consistently win games. You need to establish yourself as the superior team consistently.

If you're constantly playing 50/50 games then you're going to get as many bad results as you are good results. Our fans are basically deciding whether our performance was good or not based on whether we scrape a close win or we drop points in a close game.

Good teams can win games convincingly, and we almost never do that.

Was watching the 99 documentary on Prime yesterday. The urgency, the sheer willpower to win, the tackling, the over my dead body mentality, the characters in that team. How I miss that. I'm not even talking about the quality of the players.

Watching our current players make stupid mistakes, the Antony pisstake at the end (foul and backheel with minutes to go), players taking no responsibility on the pitch, just playing it around in the back without urgency.

Keane, Stam, Schmeichel, Neville and others would have murdered some of these players I think

There were improvements versus last year and clearly we were unlucky.

However, there are few things that concern me:
  1. Our wide play was poor
  2. We struggled to connect our midfield with our attack
  3. We need a player that can control the tempo of the game much more than a pure destroyer
If the plan is to use Zirkzee as a false 9 or as a 10, then we may be looking for a back up striker quite soon.

Do you see us finishing top 4 this season? I don't.

Yes I do, especially if we get Ugarte over the line. Our system looks a lot more cohesive this season.

Who's your latest manager pick who will miraculously coach these guys into world beaters? Last season up until Christmas or so it was De Zerbi, but that went quiet after they collapsed.

Not sure it will matter what our system is if we do not put the ball in the net. We need a goalscorer.
