Manchester United 1:1 Bournemouth

Post-match discussion

Hate these early matches … ruins the whole weekend. That was LvG level shite!

Mings getting crucified by Carragher first and now Henry (to be fair they have also both just said Zlatan took a step off to hammer Mings back so possibly deserves a ban) but they are saying that there is a camera angle where Mings looks, sees Ibra and stamps on his head.

It's unbelievable how United can go of "great first half" to "shit storm" in a matter of 90 minutes.

Stop blaming Mourinho, stop blaming the press, stop blaming the atmosphere, stop blaming the ref.

The blame lies solely on the players today, there are no two ways about it. That was bloody dreadful and we're reliant on Mkhi, a player who wasn't even a regular until a few months ago. Absolute disgrace of a performance today, Jose should do whatever he wants to this team because God damn it that was dreadful.

All this against 10 men. 10. These guys have a terrible defence.
That side should have been capable of winning this game. Terrible finishing, yet again is the cause of dropped points.

I can't fault Bournemouth for the way they played with 10 men. It was us who should have been able to score against a Bournemouth side who conceed freely with 10 men.

Oh our corners... we had more than 15 of them and not one meaningful.. Hate it

Yep, we have several towering players and we must be the worst team in the league at scoring or even hitting the target from corners - we may as well just pass it to the keeper and press reset.

No Mhki, no party.
We've really missed him today. Rooney makes me tear my hair out in comparison.

Arrogance and underestimating the opposition is why we did not win.
Agree. It always seemed like Bournemouth were at the 50/50 balls first. They hustled harder in the latter stages of the game. They wanted it more. And the feckers have little, if any, to play for at that.

Taking off Carrick was our undoing. We resorted to either long ball or LVG-esque football without him in the end. Only Rashford out of the three subs did anything of use.

That was a tactical error from Jose. Herrera was on the bench. We had a man advantage. Herrera should have come on instead of Fellaini.

To be honest - the team he sent out should have easily seen off Bournemouth. The entire attack and defence were atrocious.

Pogba should donate his wages this week to charity. He had 2 chances in the added time and he conspired to miss those chances with his acute stupidity.

The penalty wasn't exactly down to sharp creative play, and neither was the air kick. We pumped the ball into their box the whole second half and tried to live off the scraps. The pen was more their defender being an idiot than anything else, Pogba's chance was maybe the only one, and we got it from a knock down.
Do you honestly believe we were creative enough?

We could have been 3 up by 15 mins

fecked me right off that game , our inability not to beat 10 poor players is a joke.
Mings is a disgrace , the stamp was blatant and he knew 100% what he was doing , has did Zlatan with the elbow, after calming down a bit , yes I can understand why he did it , but it was wrong and he deserves what even ban he gets, but Mings deserves double what ever Zlatan gets.
Zlatan and Pogba the worst I have seen them play this season is any game , wanted to give 0 but it would not let me.

I swear that if Mkhitaryan played it would have been a different story.

He was the key acquisition in the summer and the difference maker. No surprise ever since he got injured we havent played well. Our buildup and finishing in the last third suffers without Mkhi carrying and creating for us.
Agree, he provides a directness and energy that opens up the game and helps other players get in the game.

After the first 25 minutes I thought we're gonna murder them. But since the red card, we bottled it!
Once again it clearly shows, we are mentally weak. And not just this season!

Maybe we should have made the subs earlier? Rashford and Lingard could have injected some pace when there was still some space to run in.

We were at a stroll, creating and squandering chances in the first half. But they made us pay for not putting them away when we had the chance.

I don't understand replacing Carrick with Fellaini. Carrick passes forward, Fellaini does not. Unless Fellaini is going to get in the box, there's no point in him being out there.

Lingard didn't work well as a left back either. Basically, Mourinho lacked impact subs at the end.

Our team doesn't know how to break down opponents which is why we have had so many draws in matches we "should have won". Unfortunately these things take time, experience and probably some added quality in the summer.
Don't agree with that. We've come up with plenty of chances, although should have had more with some logical thinking, but our finishing has cost us...again.

Redcafe goes into meltdown thread should be interesting on the Liverpool forums

Zlatan was terrible that game, absolutely shocking, Rooney on the other hand was great for the most part especially early.

Rooney just said on SKY he saw the 'stamp' on Ibrahimovic but you could clearly see he was looking the other way at the referee!
Saying Mings should get a ban, what an absolute arse.

Nor do I. We struggle with that. You don't, you excel at it in fact

Our big names let us down today - Mourinho, Pogba and Ibra.

Also, when the feck are we going to get some proper wingers that can put in a cross and beat a man?

Mata keeps coming infield and crowding the middle.

Martial is hit and miss. Not to mention has no left foot to put in a cross and keeps cutting right predictably.

Today proved Rooney will in no way be here next season if there was any doubt.
He had several chances to simply take a shot and instead passed to Zlatan.
Just take the shot.

Totaly a player lost of all confidence.

Everton even may not take him.

Mourinho, Pogba, & Ibra shoulder the vast majority of blame for that.

Embarrassing.

It was so sad to see. One on one with the keeper and he chose to square it.

Actual conclusions from game...
Rooney is done. We've known it for a while. He stifles games and we can't regain energy after subbing him. At most he should be a sub to see out games that have been won.

Carrick is essential, but can't do it for 90 mins, we need a plan B.

Zlatan blows hot and cold. Overall contribution can't be disputed, but when he is off form he kills our only outlet. We need a Plan B, which links to Rooney as well. I.e. we need another top striker or a secondary formation.

Jones always has potential to be a liability. He lacks composure. It needs to be addressed.

That will do!
Yeah pretty much.

Martial lacks a winning mentality. He just stands there careless looking stupid when he lose the ball or miss a chance instead of trying to win back the ball etc. He gives up way too easily.

Zlatan is awful in the games where he doesn't score. It's either a lot of goals or a dreadful performance by him. I think RvP was better for us. He was more consistent.

Pogba needs to work on the mental aspect of his game as well. He's rubbish when things don't go his way. Becomes frustrated and tries the impossible. When that obviously doesn't work he loses his confidence. Happens over and over again.

And why the feck did Mourinho bring on Fellaini? Are we really going to resort to hoofball when we're chasing a late goal? It never fecking works.

And it's unbeleivable that Mourinho started with Rooney. Shows that he underrated Bournemouth. He got what he deserved.

Rather than Lingard, Young could have done a job.

Valencia looked injured btw.

Fellaini sub was pointless really. If he wanted to do something drastic then bring on those two but leave carrick on to make it like 3 at the back and push Lingard and Valencia up the wings.

Shame I've sent my wife and daughter to my wife's parents to stay at home, have a beer and watch the match in peace...
