PL D FA Premier League

Manchester United 1:1 Bournemouth

Post-match discussion

Sat, 04 March 2017

The most frustrating game I've seen in a long, long, long time. I am absolutely baffled as to how we didn't pick up the three points here. ANOTHER game where we draw a straightforward tie at home.

Our two signings of the season Pogba and Ibra bottled it. When we needed leadership qualities, they were nowhere to be found.

Shocking performance. Another chance to climb up the table and we failed. This was the day we lost top four.

No one to blame but ourselves.

Credit to Bournemouth who worked tirelessly, wasted time when they needed to and scrapped their way to a point despite the overwhelming number of chances in our favour.

Absolutely devastated.

Unprofessional from front to back, starting with Mourinhos press conference yesterday and his team selection.

We thought we had this one won before we even started and it showed with the starting 11. Rooney shouldn't have started and whilst I was glad shaw did, neither should he and it showed how we were underestimating Bournemouth.

We were absolutely all over the place at the back and were poor up top. Absolutely atrocious result.

We´ve been shit in front of goal all season and it won´t change. We desperately need another offensive player than can reliably deliver goals. We have to hope that just like last season they don´t mind having to play in the Europa League.

Barely created anything in that second half. Very poor energy wise. It was like watching the shite last season.

Pogba is really not up there. I don't even think he is a top 10 midfielder in the world. 89 million for potential, I am not even sure he can still improve. Most expensive average player.

That's why we are 6th. That's why we will finish 6th. This team bottles every single chance to move up the table like we almost bottled the EFL final. Forget TOP 4 as it's a mission impossible for us and to be fair we don't deserve it.

We might as well just focus on the cups. The league mentality seems to be any chance to leave the comfort of 6th position and they seize up. 1-0 up as well against that utter pile of dross that Everton put 6 past a few weeks ago.

Zlatan has had a good season but how many of these draws are on him? Let's be honest.

Too many. He cannot get in behind defence, especially when they sit back. It makes our play very ineffective.

Have to prioritize the Europa I think.

It's getting to that stage now.
We might have to follow what Liverpool did in 05, and basically bin the league off for the greater good of the cups.

What about other attacking players, at least he has been scoring.

This is it then. As soon as we get a chance to crack the top 4, we bottle it. 15 corners? a gazillion shots? Standard United.

If Zlatan has a bad day we have a bad day.

When I saw the line up I was worried. Rooney has completely lost any sort of performance these days and offers nothing going forward.

How can you have a penalty and a man advantage for 45 minutes against a team that hasn't won a game this year and still not win.

Top 4 opportunity lost once again. The players seem happy with 6th.

The first half can be summed up by one word: arrogance.

The second half can be summed up by one word: panic.

All in all, we dropped 2 points due to the horrible mentality of the players playing. In the first half, they took it too easy and didn't maintain a professional attitude. In the second half, they started panicking at the prospect of dropping points rather than continuing to play their game.

It's fair to say that we're close to going down the route Inter went through in the late 1990's/early 2000's where they had a bunch of great players but no team identity. We play with 11 individuals out there, and even now, they all struggle to gel with each other. All of the players seem to play their own game, and they don't seem to have any idea of how to work with each other. It's in these sort of games where our lack of team chemistry really rears its head.

Morinho had to gamble with team selection at som point but when you pick a team like that with no pace you are asking for trouble.

It's not really a surprise we didn't win because we have drawn so many games like that already, sixth is where we deserve to be and it is where we will finish without a doubt.

Blame Mourinho for picking Jones and Rooney but again Zlatan and Pogba are poor at home.

Zlatan needs to stop taking free kicks as he is just shit at them and Pogba needs to calm the fck down in possession.

And why was Rooney picked?

Help us, Europa-League Kenobi. You're our only hope.

At least we don't have to worry about the effects of fixture congestion. A week's break gave us zero help.

Horrible day from Zlatan. From the way he lined up for both the FK and the penalty, I was sure he would feck up. His head was gone.

Pogba showed yet again that he's not the man to come up with something decisive when it really matters.

Hard to pick a MOTM from this shite. Rojo and Valencia were decent I guess.

As soon as Ibra lost his head our whole game crumbled!

I think we'd have been better leaving Shaw and Rooney on and taking Ibra and the Pog off. I think we missed Herrera today ttytt.

I nearly switched off when I saw Fellaini take off his training bib.

Pretty sure there's a clause in Ibra's contract saying he can't be subbed.

Yep, i thought the same. The team became significally worse after the subs. It's one of Mourinho's best qualities as a manager but i think he got it wrong today.

The worst thing about it was how predictable it was. Start fast, don't take our chances, eventually get a goal, slow the game down and don't kill it off, let them back in.

So many silly decisions in the second half, we just need to keep playing and instead we have so many players trying to lump it. Why didn't we try and target their right side with Martial more? He was wasted once we made the subs.

Think as well that we're gonna pay the price for not giving Rashford much time up front at all. As god as Ibra has played there was a lot of opportunities to sub him and let Rashford get some time up front to keep sharp there. We didn't do that and so don't really have an alternative striker to help in games like this or if Ibra gets banned.

I've never seen such a bunch of overpaid tossers flap about so much. Couldn't find their dicks with a map and a compass never mind the goal

Missed chances galore again by our strikers. So fecking annoyed right now.

Well that was pretty shit. Created chances for fun in the first 25 minutes then just scraps after that even with a man advantage.

Ibra stupid and will get a suspension. Jones a moron too.

This is happening far too often to just be "one of those days". There is something fundamentally wrong.
There is. Zlatan is our only scorer and when he has an off day Mourinho lacks the balls to take him off.

Story of the season. Create a million chances but don't win the game.

Why did we start playing long balls 5 minutes into the second half?

It's getting to that stage now.
We might have to follow what Liverpool did in 05, and basically bin the league off for the greater good of the cups.
That's what Jose already decided, compare todays starting 11 to the one that played the first St Etienne game and you'll see.

Today is the day the door to the top 4 was slammed shut. Another bottle job.

But we're still unbeaten, remember

Also I'm so sick of Phil Jones and all the people who think he's 'great when fit'.

I don't want us to extend Ibrahimovic's contract. feck that.

Also Pogba is the worst waste of money, EVER.

Expect Bournemouth to go on losing 5-6 games in a row with comical defending now. Hate these minnows that play out of their skins just to celebrate a point against us while losing to anyone and everyone else.

Arrogant team selection. Jones, Pogba,Ibra and Rooney shocking
To be fair, we've played a lot of games recently and we are still in all competitions. We need everyone fit and I don't think Jose had much choice with the team selection, especially seeing as we're playing on Thursday then again on Sunday.

We should have been out of sight in the first half but couldn't finish. I'm still struggling to understand why we're putting up with the Rooney tribute act.

Abysmal. As soon as we scored they tightened it up and we resorted to chipping balls at their centre backs for the next 60 minutes. The lack of variation was a disgrace and the less said about the quality the better.

Jose will be apoplectic and with good reason, a few players let him down bigly today.

Second half was particularly poor. Similar story to previous draws in that we had the chances but no one seemed interested in scoring. Very poor games from Ibra and Jones cost us. Just knew he was going to miss that penalty when he stepped forward to take it.
