I dont think this was a game for him to be honest. Maybe he'd have fared better than those that were selected but he hasn't looked that comfortable playing against a high press in years. Alaba was a mistake too i'd say.
They've both been getting shown up a bit in these kind of games for a while, dont know why people think this time would be different.

Whilst I agree and I’m Normally one of the first in the Fred performance when he doesn’t play well (even commented in the 1st half) I’ve consoled myself with knowing he wouldn’t be starting if Eriksen was fit

he’s a squad player, we have 2 injuries in cm and will probably add to that area in the summer. But for now no other choice but to play him and hope he has a good game, even a half

He contributed a lot of good things in the first half. He gave the ball away badly a couple of times and everyone assumed he was awful. That happens a lot. Some eye-catching feck ups and all the good stuff gets ignored. Second half he did up his game but not by a lot. The big difference was the lack of howlers.

I don’t watch enough of them to be able to counteract that, but if he was their biggest miss they may have issues in the next game. And long term, given they’ve bankrupted their future to build that current team based on what was shown tonight.
