FA W FA Cup 3rd Round

Arsenal 1:1 Manchester United

Post-match discussion

We didn’t play our best, but we competed exceptionally well until Dalot’s second card. After that, we truly showed resilience and defended admirably.

Our results and performances against Arsenal, City, and Liverpool should convince the players that they are much better than the league position suggests. These results should remind them of their quality and encourage them to fully embrace Amorim’s ideas. Maintaining the same level of desire against less formidable opposition is fundamental.

Kudos to all the players, especially Bayindir and Zirkzee. I was also very impressed with Collyer’s performance.

Lastly, I must say that this was one of the worst referee performances I’ve witnessed in a professional football match in a very long time

We obviously still struggle to keep and pass the ball in midfield, but against the majority of pl teams we should be fine, won't get pressured as well as arsenal did.

Amorium says the right things plus he knows our biggest problem was the lack of desire and fight and that's exactly what's been missing since SAF except a few small occasions.

Amazing spirit, heart and fight by everyone. Dalot being a brainless idiot as often almost killed it but without that, we would have won in 90mins.
Arsenal are a truly despicable team, as was the ref

So proud of the whole team tonight. We played against 12 men in one of the worst reffing displays I have seen in my 50 years of supporting United, the whole team dug in and played for us and the manager. It is starting to look like we are playing as a team that are supporting each other rather than a band of mercenaries. Stoked!!

I thought it was over when 10 men and the help from that very poor ref. But when Bayindir saves that pen the believe in that squad went up and the longer it went it went higher keeper had motm because he was on it in front of goal from then on. Sterling coming on made it easier as he's no good.
The Gunners bench got Dalot sent off then the weak ref gives a pen for a dive realy, they had all the help in that 120 mins to win and still couldn't do it. Dligt has grown and grown last few games maybe the penny has dropped what a utd CB needs to be.

Final word what a pen from Yoro and Martinez. CB scoring pens like that ..

Just rewatched the game on video and I’m absolutely sure the ref did everything he could to deny a win for Utd. The tackles by Diallo were not good but there were many by Arsenal players just as bad which went unpunished. All this grabbing and holding by virtually every team is spoiling games and needs to be addressed, doubt it will though.
Glad Havertz missed his sitter in 88th minute, he’s a real moaning sod if players have the audacity to tackle. Congratulations to Utd for holding out against this load of cheating bar stewards.

It's really positive to see another spirited performance today. I really felt it was only going one way after the Dalot red, quick Arsenal goal and penalty award but the players dug in and displayed good character which has been missing for a long time. Well deserved win

The desire and hunger is coming back, absolutely love to see it.
To see De Ligt and Maguire celebrate every challenge like a goal is amazing.
Long may this continue.

Honestly not surprised. The signs of us improving under Amorim have been there pretty much from day one. Never going to be straight line up, was always going to be bad results along the way, will still be.

Today, Liverpool, City showed what we can compete against the best teams in the league. We don’t need a major overhaul of players. Just a a few key additions and a mentality shift so we can beat teams outside of the top 4-6 more comfortably.

Very happy with today’s performance and result.

We're starting to play like a team. Fair play to Amorim and every single player out there today. Stupid tackle from Dalot, even though he didn't connect and the Arsenal player made a meal of it, but he gave the ref a decision to make. So many positives today - Maguire was excellent. Bayindir was my MOTM. Bruno put in another great shift. Ugarte/Mainoo pivot looking good. Collyer looks decent and was very calm out there. Over the moon for Zirkzee as well. To step up and bury that penalty took some cajones. The difference in our fitness and concentration levels is very evident. Thought the ref was poor but not as bad as Havertz.

Been a while since I celebrated a win like that. Bloody loved that. So happy for Bayindir, to have that game after the previous performance shows real spirit. Those were two top, top pen saves.

Dalot got Dalot sent off. On a yellow, you do not launch yourself into a slide tackle like that. There was zero reason to do it. The Arsenal player was going nowhere, just stand him up.

Exactly. It was an easy decision and our players really need to stop messing up so stupidly

First of all, congrats to Andrew Madley, absolutely outstanding pulling the strings for Arsenal, didn't deserve to be on the losing side today.

Joking aside, we looked a lot tighter in our structure today, even when down to ten men. We're a lot more difficult to play against than under Ten Hag. Maybe Collyer can be that missing link in midfield, someone who can come in and replace either Ugarte or Mainoo.

Plenty of players stood up to be counted today, like Martinez, Zirkzee, Yoro, and of course Bayindir, who was unbelievable. MOTM Altay.

In many ways a worse performance than against Liverpool but in other ways maybe better, Arsenal had much more control than Liverpool did, or than they did when they beat us the other week, but they didn't do much with it, yes with better finishing they would have scored, but then so would we.

Take aways:
Dalot was a bit of an idiot today
Garnacho looked much better as the right sided 10
Collyer deserves more match time (might need to play if Ugarte gets a ban)
The team have found some fight that is half the battle
2-3 players would make a massive improvement to the 1st team and the bench

And finally Arteta the bitch can shut up, they deserved to win did they.... well not you fecking didn't because guess what you didn't do enough against 10 men for 60 minutes, you had chances and you didn't take them, you were not robbed, we didn't even park the bus that much, so feck off Captain Black

(Before anyone misunderstands Arteta is the spitting image of Captain Black from Captain Scarlett and the Mysterons Capitain Black picture)

Fecking perfection, can't fault a single player tonight. Also great to hate Arsenal again, the cheating, diving, gormless cnuts.
I agree with you (rather than the jokers offering their critiques of the likes of Zirkzee, who was immense). I include on that Dalot, too. This kind of performance is on the edge stuff, giving it everything. He was a billionth of a second late, ref made a call he was entitled to. Stuff happens. We move on. But that ref gave United nada. All game.

The great thing about this performance was the work ethic and determination to keep going when things looked bad. That should be a given but last season they would have completely fell apart getting a player sent off. They need to keep this going though and see off Soton midweek.

Epic. Almost reminds me of the famous 99 Semi replay at Villa. We take the lead, they pox an equaliser, get a pen to win but our keeper saves us and we have a man sent off.
Games like today remind me how lucky I am to have followed this club for over 50 years.
Credit is due.
Cracking post

So weird seeing them drain the clock all through the first half, whilst it was 0-0. Every set piece took 2 or 3 minutes off. It was like seeing a potential giant killer playing for a replay.

I think they’re seeing now. If we fight, we can win any match. Regardless of the ref being on the other team side. We always have a chance if you fight for the badge.

I honestly think challenging and pushing the likes of Marcus. And then you see he’s not in to fight so you won’t be a part of the project was a clear signal to everyone else. Fight every match or you’re done here.

About bloody time
It’s what we been crying out for in years. It’s the bare minimum for any footballer regardless of who you play for - you need to work hard. They did that in an abundance last week against Liverpool in which was a game majority were expecting a heavy defeat after the disgraceful league performances that followed the City win (Bournemouth, Wolves & Newcastle). The target after the Liverpool game was to follow that performance up in terms of effort and desire in which they spoke about after the game and being quizzed as to where that sort of performance had been all this time. Up to them to back it up again today & not prove that was just a one off performance. Safe to say, it was there in an abundance again, the passion, energy, desire to fight for each other & the fans. Today it felt like the old times in terms of no matter how difficult the situation was, one thing you were guaranteed was a team that won’t roll over too easily.

GET IN THERE.

Stunning stuff, absolutley amazing. The fight we showed from the red card on was incredible. So many positives.

Oddly knew we would win since yesterday for some reason although it got a bit dodgy at times

I’m so happy we won, for the past 2-3 years I’m hating Arsenal even more than Liverpool.

Amazing win!

But red card should not mean one player less for the full game. This needs to change. Punish the player and let him hit the dressing room but bring on a other after a certain time, like hockey for instance.

So boring when every game is the same when one player is sent off.

Anyway, this must mean the world to the confidence of the players!

Glory Glory!
Sorry but that's a silly idea. All you'd do is get cnutish teams starting a useless old dog and getting him to break the legs of the opponent's best player.
