EL D Europa League Quarter-Final 1st Leg

Anderlecht 1:1 Manchester United

Post-match discussion

If you're saying 'shambolic' after that, have a word with yourself Jesus. Score draw, first leg away in a Euro QF? They'll get dicked second leg.

A European game against a half decent team pretty much shows up the limited players in our team. If we have to play good, intelligent, technical football - we need to ship out Darmian, Fellaini, and Valencia

He bossed the game.
His passing was awful today Sults. Dallied on the ball so many times. Yes he shields the ball well but his in game intelligence is very poor as he still does not know when to pass and when to dribble.

United need about 8 chances to score whereas we only need to give one chance to concede. It's so annoying

Decent result but should have won - better first half.
Rashford was good first half, Mkhi some nice touches, Zlatan poor game and Darling, what's the point
Carrick steady game like Valencia.
Fellaini went to sleep and Darmian too late for the goal, otherwise Darmian didn't do too bad.

Let's win the second leg.

When's Mata back?

This thread is embarrassing again.

Maybe his tactics are to suit the average squad we have. We've all seen us fail to convert chances all season, why pour forward trying to score again making the game open for them? If our players stick to their simple jobs of positioning on the pitch, we win 1-0 and are in a very strong position.

Mourinho's fault our CBs were out of position was it? That nobody got close to the header? Amateur defending and that fault lies with the players.

What's the stat on Fellaini coming on whilst we are leading only for us to concede late. I despise the bastard. What does he bring to the team?

Could have put some confidence in the team with a big win ready for Chelsea but fecked it up big time in the second half, Sunday is going to be scary.
How the feck is it going to be scary? The worst that will happen is we lose 1-0.
Scary my ass.

Is this team ready to go up against Europe's elite in the CL next season?

Need 2 more big signings IMO.

Try fecking 6!

Obviously I'm exaggerating and this isn't a bad result, but this team really do my head in. We should be putting teams like this out in the first leg, they were bloody rubbish and we still end up failing to win:wenger:

Decent performance, shambolic result considering the chances we had. Anderlecht will be delighted with that. Their keeper made a few point-blank saves, but most of our shots were straight at him.

Carrick and Rashford were magnificent. Bailly and Rojo were also pretty good, the rest average.

Ibra, Pogba and Martial need to pull their socks up.

Still expect us to progress fairly comfortably barring another game-raising performance from the opposition. Which you wouldn't put past this Anderlecht team. Another draw, another tie that goes to the wire. Typical United.

As usual bringing on Fellaini to 'see the game out' backfires spectacularly once more.
It's the most frustrating thing ever. I wouldn't even have a problem with bringing him on to chase a goal if Jose would stop making this mistake. Fellaini is horrible at defending.

Our team is an absolute joke. What are they on a football pitch for? No final touch, no final pass and no final shot! Just complacent, lazy and pathetic. Martial has pissed me off no end there. Pogba with another trademark finish falling on his ass one on one like a girl playing football for the first time! Misplacing passes, no attacking impetus. He puts Fellaini on for the final insult who loses his marker and puts them right back in this tie! This team is miles away from the top class and it's unacceptable. We will not win this competition and we will not get top four. It's a disgrace how casual we are in the final third. I am done expecting the minutest effort from this team.

Rashford and Lingard were kids out there again, btw
. Impossible, just impossible to expect anything from this team of low-IQed zombies out there.
Rashford was our best player.

Are you kidding me? 1-1? A draw? Again?

What's the record for most draws in a season across all competitions?

Anderlecht weren't doing anything and we had chances to score more goals. Wasn't abysmal at all.

But is it really true?

There was this moment around 50th minute or so when Valencia simply bailed us out 3 times within what, 2 minutes? We've had Miki and bottled Pogba chance, that's about it.

Give pogba the benefit of the doubt this season even though he isnt new to the league but it's looking increasingly like we have been robbed with each passing game.

Awful.... players take so much of the flak as they're on the pitch but I still think Jose takes a lot of the blame as the mentality of the team is too negative and that comes from him.

Anderlecht are sh!te.... we made them look half decent.

I'm not bothered what age the players are or how much they cost but we need masses of new players... better ability and a much, much stronger mentality.

4 years on, hundreds of millions of pounds and we're nowhere near a decent CL team. Still need 3 defenders, a holding MF (to free Pogba up), a wide player and maybe more (squad)..... unbefeckinlievable.

It should have been 2-1 to us. Two away goals would have killed the tie.

Same old shite in that we need about ten chances to score a goal.

Even at 1-0 to us i would be disappointed. We really should have put three past them despite their goal.

Frustrating! I thought we played some decent stuff in the game and were pretty much in control all the way through, but the lack of attacking prowess is ridiculous. I also don't get why at the 70 minute mark Jose insists on making it harder, he used to throw Rooney on at that point and now it's Fellaini, we find it hard enough without throwing crappy players on to make it more difficult.

Carrick's not holding back post match - In control but sloppy, wasteful, lacking killer instinct...

Looked frustrated and not just by this game.

Darmian and Fellaini yes.

Valencia has been excellent for us this season.

Just not sure why Luke Shaw wasnt used. He would have had a field day against this team and probably helped to create a second goal.

A central midfielder or two is the utmost priority this summer. Its going to be crucial because we CANNOT continue to use dross like fellaini.

I thinks its the exact opposite.

You guys are miserable bunch. Sure, it would have been nice to win the game, but 1:1 is not a bad result being away.

It's the shift in performance people dislike. If you are given a piece of meat, rotten on one side would you still eat it whole? Masochist bunch.

Give me a D, Give me an R, Give me an A, Give me a W, And what does it spell.... Manchester United

Hate to say/think this the whole season but we really deserved much more from this game. With first shot on the goal in last few minutes they scored.

IMO we were very good in the first half but then tried to close the game and hit them more on the counter. We are still big favorites to go through but we could have and should have sealed it tonight. Rashford, Carrick and Pogba, all with good performances.

We better be fired up for the return leg and be two nil up by 25 minutes. We should kill the tie before half time.

I thinks its the exact opposite.

I think if it had finished 1-0 it would've been a polished performance away from home in Europe. We also created a good amount of chances, their keeper made some great saves and we hit the post but its been the story of our season, really.
