[Poll] We desperately need a striker

Which striker should we buy ?

One uninspiring list of strikers. The market is dry.

I wonder if we're trying to see if we can sign someone like Muller, Bale, Benzema, Ronaldo, etc. I just hope it's not Cavani, he's not terrible, but he's not what we need either.

105 voters would take Lacazette over Benzema, Lewendoski, or Muller?

No I voted lacazette as he is the best of the available strikers, I don't think Benzema, Lewandowski or muller are available at any cost unfortunately. I wish they were tho as they would be the best Utd could get.

I am getting slightly worried, if we dont purchase a top striker, the pressure on Rooney is going to be immense, he is basically required to have a 25+ goal season or we will fail on most fronts.

Way too risky to go into a season with Rooney and wilson and an injured hernandez.

Sturridge, Benteke and firminho is much better than that.

Eh we will play a front 3 of Depay Rooney and Mata or Di Maria in there or even Herrera....how do liverpool come close?

Just based on the player and how the team is built, I like Kane. I think we need a presence and a target up front, but one who can also score goals out of nothing.

He's clearly got fantastic potential and a great pedigree for scoring goals - but given the fact Shaw and Sterling have gone for a combined £80m over the last two summers, he doesn't leave Spurs for a penny less than £40m...which is too much for someone with one season under his belt.

It is, but I'd risk 40m on him instead of 50m on Sterling

 Despite discussing in detail how he is way overpriced and too much of a risk I just voted Kane. I mean the options are just awful. Haven't seen Lacazette but the others really don't inspire confidence.

I went for Kane aswell even though it's unlikely, just really don't like Cavani. Muller/Benzema/Lewandowski surely are unobtainable, BM won't sell to us anymore and if we want a player in return for de Gea it will be Ramos. Don't have a clue who we're going for if it isn't Kane or Cavani tbh.

@Red Hand Devil will kill me and I'm blaming @NL Max but I voted to just keep Hernandez as Lacazette is the only option on the poll I want who I also feel is realistic, but Max has convinced me that LvG wouldn't want him.

Like most I'd love to see Lewandowski or Benzema here, but I just can't see a scenario in which our German and Spanish equivalents would sell them, not in a market so bereft of top strikers.

Hernandez has always been good at the super sub role and one more season to evaluate players like Kane, Morata and Icardi for example, wouldn't hurt long term.

I actually think Lewandowski is gettable. They need Di Maria. To replace a ribery or Robben. Reports say Pep and Lewa have had a strained relationship and at times last season it looked that way. We have a manager unsure Di Maria will be here next season. For me thats reason enough to sell or swap. For him to say even suggest that is pretty shabby for me as Di Maria is obviously not wholeheartedly with us!

Not at all man - it's all about opinion & we agree on most things, but it's no biggie in disagreeing on anything tbh.

Keeping Chicharito? WTF man - are you f*cking mental or smokin that crack pipe shit?? :-)

We need a striker, but feck me the options are limited.

He's their only out and out #9. Things are already a bit tetchy with Bastian leaving, they wouldn't want to lose another very, very highly rated striker. Rummienge already said there'll be no more departures too.

Isn't Lewandowski their only striker though? BM also said they wouldn't sell to us again and unlike many on the Redcafe I still can't see Di Maria leaving.

@Devil may care Great, I've managed to convince you over a player I have only seen for about 45 minutes before I got bored . Hernandez might be given a chance, no point in selling him to buy another striker who doesn't fit the profile, strange we wouldn't keep RvP over him though. Still think the club will have someone in mind though.

Just thinking out loud here, if we sign a cheap-ish goalkeeper + Ramos/Otamendi would we have enough cash left to make a silly offer (50m+) for Kane?

Ibrahimovic for a couple of seasons. Perfect fit for United.

I honestly haven't got a clue what the plan is. I just hope we have something lined up.

If we did I think it would be apparent or done. Dont get me wrong I think RVP was picking up his pay cheque at times last season. Pundits were saying the same. At a club like ours I'm glad that gets stamped out with a zero tolerance approach. That said, I'm now looking at the replacements......hmmmm

Appropriate wording man - crazy to spend that on Kane right now, but i'm not a fortune teller who can predict if Kane is the real deal & will have another season like last season.

I'd love him here, but is he all that or will he be all that, is the question?!

Can we not just throw one zillion pounds Aguero's way? :(

I would say at his age, if you can do anything for a season, destroy chelsea, you can do it. End of really.

If we don't buy a striker we don't win the league, I think Woody's got something up his sleeve, he's saving the best till last. We're going to make a blockbuster signing to parade in our nice new shiny Adidas kit.

Until I quoted didn't notice the white text!

I think if we can get a goal threat addition to the right side of the front to replace Di Maria we can maybe get by with the striking options for one season.

You've convinced me over this damn profile stuff! Things were never this complicated under Fergie. :D I imagine the differences between RvP and Hernandez are that RvP wants to start, he's on much higher wages and Hernandez pressing game and pace is better than RvP's.

Oh I think we'd have enough to make that offer, but Levy is such a snake that he'll no doubt have Kane valued at an even more ridiculous price.

The striker you all crave has already been purchased. Depay will be playing as a cover striker/winger. Young will keep his place. Depay is going to surprise alot on here.

@NL Max has said many times that Memphis isn't a striker.

Either was Henry when Arsenal purchased him. LVG has already said he can play as a striker. Thats exactly where he is heading!

I just don't see it. He was bought as a winger, and he'll play the majority of the time as one.

Our best outfield player last season was Ashley Young in many respects. So a new manager comes in, see's this and replaces him with Depay. We all would. Guaranteed Young doesnt lose his place and Depay rotates as striker/winger cover. He'll score goals. He's playing up top!

If Memphis is good enough, and in form, he'll play ahead of Young. Last season is irrelevant, the in form players will play.

I haven't seen enough of him to comment, will reserve judgement until he's played a good few games, but notwithstanding that, I still think we need a top striker with the addition of Champs League, there's more than enough games for everyone. Van Gaal really wants the PL, at the moment we haven't got the firepower.
