Expected response, to be fair. Have no desire of a lengthy discussion on this subject.

If you can't even arse yourself to back up your original point, then next time don't fecking butt in with inane and inaccurate commentary. Now jog on.

Shame Bayern is off bounds now, Lewandowski or Muller would be perfect.

You have to fear that we may take a risk on converting Depay/Januzaj as strikers and going with what we've got, or on the other end of the scale doing a swap with ADM for Cavaini :(

I'm fully convinced we've got someone lined up, I refuse to believe the club hierarchy would knowingly get rid of 2 strikers (Falcao and RVP) without a back up ready to come in.

woody has got something planned. The mans on fire at the moment.

Ofcourse not, we will sign a striker. The market isn't that barren of strikers who won't even be guaranteed starters to resort to converting 2 great talents into an unfamiliar position. Depay has played a grand total of 15 minutes as 2nd striker in the Robben role since he was about 16. He can certainly learn the trait and do a job in case of injuries, but why change a goalscoring winger into a striker? They're pretty hard to find, Di Maria isn't that much of a goalscorer either.

Hearing whispers of Icardi again. Would be a great addition, throwback to Ruud. Him and a centre half and we are good to go.

Icardi, Lacazette, Austin. Neither of them would cost a fortune and they would be perfect backup to Rooney.

Austin isn't good enough for us. Icardi seems to be a bellend.

Lacazette is the solution :)

Predicted this long before the moves were going to happen. Fellaini might be one of our makeshift striking option to shoehorn our midfield players. The other being Depay and we might suffer because of it. However, on the good side, it is much better than the way we shoehorned our strikers last season as midfield is the basis of good football, not strikers.
He's a good battering ram for our other strikers. I thought that his presence really helped Wilson's fine debut.

I'd prefer him than someone who doesn't offer anything like hold-up play, speed or creating chances, which we experienced often last season. Most names mentioned I wouldn't mind.

Icardi signed a new contract a few weeks back. Kane will be a target, but if he's too expensive then I don't think we'll get anyone.

I think we will sign Lacazette. Because logic.

From what I have read Lacazette isn't a logical van Gaal striker though. @Invictus made a good summary of his weaknesses and those are exactly what van Gaal is looking for in his strikers. His multifunctionality of being able to play out wide doesn't help him much as we've got 5 options there already. Lyon would also demand a fortune, they have the French Levy apparantly.

Just a gut feeling; I think we'll go wild on Harry Kane over the coming weeks.

If we do, he'll be the one we're talking about next summer as an expensive disappointment that many of us were very wary of.

Spare me the moral lessons. Let's just agree to disagree.

It will be interesting to follow the heel enigma. Again, i don't agree he only has a season left but it will depend on his recovery and it seems it's time to move on, as he has done so many times. The outburst against the referee/France has clearly affected his confidence/performance level, he's only human.

All I described also happened months after his heel injury, "Was it a psychological fatigue from him or did he still feel some pain ?" is a good question to ask.

Think we're in for a surprise.

Woody has been crushing ass this whole summer. He's at it again right now, I agree. You have to feel that with RVP and Falcao gone, Hernandez likely to follow, Woody has something special lined up. Much like he always had Morgan in the bag but made us Muppets wait until he could annouce Darmian and Bastian at the same time.

He's gone full Muppet. No turning back now.

I'm going to the PSG game, chance to see Bastian, Morgan, Memphis and Darmian in the flesh.

Since Woodward knows no limits... it could also be Cavani AND Lacazette. ;)

Lacazette seems to be the most logical choice. Im actually surprised more teams haven't been in for him yet.

Pedro might be available for good value, if we wanted to try and scupper Chesela's supposed move for him.

Maybe Van Gaal is leaning towards Depay playing upfront. Henry style.

Wondering if LVG now sees Fellaini as a striker. Thus currently we have Rooney / Fellaini and Wilson (assume Hernandez will still go) vying for 1 position. With potentially Di Maria and Depay as options if injuries.

Hoping he fully implements 4-3-3 and not 3-5-2.

But if we could bring in a top striker it'd really help us, an injury to Rooney and we'd be struggling in my view. Therefore I think we will bring in one. Our wage book after RVP, Falcao, and Nani have been released has dropped. Even with the signings, therefore in relatively a good position to push for a big player.

Berardi sounds like he is someone we should be interested in, although I don't think I've ever seen him play!

To be honest, it looks like the Cavani link is the biggest goer:

Lacazette seems to make sense, but there has been very little reports of any actual interest in him (and not just from us)
Benteke is all but Liverpool bound apparently... as soon as this Sterling move is complete, they'll splash the cash there.
People like Austin and Berainho - again, not heard of any interest.
Kane will cost far too much money, and I'm not sure we'll want to get into a bidding process with Spurs.

Definitely think it'll be 4-3-3 and we'll absolutely sign a striker.

As for Fellaini I do think we'll now see more of thim advanced than in midfield but very much a Plan B in both areas.

I dunno - those sorts of player (and I include the modern-day Rooney in that) are fine if our aim is to "consolidate top four" but if we really want to challenge for the Title and Champions League I really feel that we need a truly world class attacker - and you can count comfortably on two hands who I mean by that - Messi, Ronaldo, Bale, Suarez, Neymar, Aguero, Muller...have I missed anyone?

We are in the top three biggest clubs in the world and we should be able to get such a player.

Whatever happened to Jay Rodriguez? I know he was injured.... but is he still alive?

Not that we should sign him or anything, he just crossed my mind.

Jay made his comeback in Southampton's first pre-season game against Red Bull Leibzig, scored twice.
