Gaming Pokémon Strumfest

Just updated OP with the new codes, I'll add them when I'm back at my DS.

Out of curiosity, what did my Friend Safari bring you Maestro? Yours gave me a nice Lampent that I look forward to evolving, and a Phantump. Don't think the third slot is available until we both make an appearance online together (think that's how it works?)

Yours had Crawdaunt and Pawniard. Both decent pokemon, especially as Crawdaunt gets the ability Adaptability. I'm not doing anything on Christmas Day so if you're online at all just let me know.

I've got Y coming tomorrow.. Looking forward to it, think i'll start with Froggy and then get Charizard again. Although i may change my mind in 2 minutes.

Just got a PM from a Newbie with their code, it's in the OP for anyone who wants to add more.

Hope it turns up Elmo!

I just added everyone in the OP (Yes, I'm a Safari whore). Although Mitchley's keeps coming up as incorrect.

Been playing this a bit more often when I had no internet connection. My team is Tyrunt, Lucario, Blastoise, Talonflame, Delphox and Simisage and I'm currently on my way to Laverre City with 5 badges. Thoughts on the team? I'm considering getting rid of Simisage for something a little stronger but I've grown attached to the little guy...

Also, I've not yet had the opportunity to use anything that you need the internet for. How do things like Wonder Trade etc work?

Not a bad team at all, I love Simisage, but I would ditch it, they're proper weak. Glass cannons but without enough cannon to be worth the glass.

He has seemed really weak in the few fights that have been close so far. Seed bomb seems to be his only useful move. Who do you recommend to replace him with?

I dunno, you plan on sticking with Grass?

Well, that or Electric really. I need something to give me that effectiveness against water and I'm not near familiar enough with the new Pokemon yet

Aye, Water I can see being a slight bit of trouble for you, Ground is your biggest weakpoint, but you have it very well covered with Blastoise.

Lot of the easily available Grass and Electric Pokemon are pretty wank too, I guess the easiest option is Jolteon, Leafeon too if you're at the 8th gym.

You know what I'd completely forgotten about Eevee and it's evolutions, but I've heard it's a bit time-consuming to grab one early on in the game? I wouldn't mind one though, I loved flareon back in the day

Thanks for the tips by the way!

Not that time consuming, they're a rare encounter, so it'll take a few minutes to find one, but never that long, I find. You could get Lombre, and evolve it to Ludicolo too, if you've reached Route 15, it's a good, if not special Pokemon, and being part Water means it has less weaknesses than most Grass pokemon. Plus it's a pineapple. Pineapples are boss.

No bother mate, glad to help.

Lombre's the one that looks like a water lily isn't it? Or is that Lotad... I forget. It's a tossup between Ludicolo and Jolteon then!

At the risk of sounding like a complete retard, what is going on here? I used to love Pokemon, I stopped playing after Ruby though.

Ok, found my XL. I'll be breeding the starters slowly, anyone wants the second gen starters?

yes will give you my friend code this weekend once im home. thanks!

Just thought rather than clog up that other thread with shit regarding Pokemon we can strum ourselves silly about it here and set up trades, battles and friend codes or whatever.

Strum away.

Need some advice on my team. I'm currently approaching the 5th gym on Pokemon Y. At present I have Delphox, Lucario, Gardevoir, Tyrantrum, Blastoise and Farfetch'd. I've kept Farfetch'd for False Swipe as none of the others can use it, but it's increasingly weak. Any thoughts on what I could replace it with?

Lot of very good Pokemon learn False Swipe. Hawlucha would be good, if you don't mind having two Fighting. Absol is great, but pretty frail and not quite fast enough to get away with being frail, if you could get it's Mega Stone though... but I think that's post-game.

Binacle/Barbaracle is another great one, you have Water, but it's Rock too.

Was thinking about going back to Honedge and leveling that up as the Steel and Ghost types could be really useful, but it doesn't learn False Swipe. Was thinking about Hawlucha, and like the fact that it is Flying, but not sure I need another Fighting. Water I've got covered with Blastoise, so I'm not not sure about Binacle. Its a bit of a puzzle...

Honedge should learn False Swipe by TM, and really is a great Pokemon. Swords Dance & Shadow Sneak is an almost unfair combo.
