Gaming Pokémon Strumfest

it seems random encounters are optional, seen a lot of pics with pokemon in overworld in areas outside the wild area, best option imo.

I think the game is 'kind of' split into two modes. You could call it a cop-out, or more a best of both worlds if we want to be on the positive side.

My assumption is:

- Towns/Cities and Major Locations are like more traditional, old school Pokémon games. Your camera is fixed, any areas with wild encounters are random invisible ones like the previous core RPG's.
- The 'Wild Area' is an area that is almost optional, but it seems some Routes will require you to tread through it (while some Routes could be like the older games). This is where you have full control over the camera angles and all wild encounters are overworld models like in Pokémon Let's Go.

I don't think this is an 'on or off' option for the game, it depends where you are in the game.

I'm positive about it, that's why I said it's the best option, it looks mixed to make everyone happy.

I read that Milo design is based off Wazza btw.

Being a massive loser and figuring out how many are left to get before the next game is out, 237 to get before then

I think the open world sections were gameplay, but it's at e3 as a playable demo and will likely be on Nintendo Treehouse so we'll get to see a direct gameplay feed then.
Ah right, i will keep a lookout for it then, cheers.

I like Drednaw and Corviknight a lot, whole game looks interesting. The gyms being stadiums in a nod to football is a nice touch.

Not sure what the deal with that Shield creature is, and the Sword one seems more a nod to Fenrir? Why not chose some more British style creatures, a big green(or red?) Euro style dragon, a Unicorn, a bog creature, or perhaps some kind of monsterous Electric/Dark dog?

Or a newspaper with fish and chips and a bus with a slogan involving money on the side.

Drednaw better have a good shiny sprite, if so I’m on that straight away

Guessing there'll be a corgi-like dog. Don't think there's any regular pokemon that covers a hedgehog, a badger (I don't count Linoone/Typhlosion) or a chicken (not including the Torchic starter-line). Maybe there'll be a new fox-type pokemon. Drilbur/Excadrill was last in ORAS but you'd think that would appear in SwSh. Snubbull will surely be in too.

So many possibilities.

They just said in the Nintendo treehouse you’ll only be able to transfer Pokemon included in the Galar regional dex into the game. So not every Pokemon will be in it, which is a blow I won’t lie

Maybe in a couple of years time for Super Sword and Super Shield. I don't have a Switch and probably won't for the foreseeable. The game looked fantastic on the stream but that announcement is going to be a kick in the nads for sales. At least you can have every pokemon on USUM even though 400 aren't listed in the pokedex. I was wondering if they were going to increase storage space to over 1000 to fit every pokemon but with this announcement it sounds like it probably won't hit 700.

it was the same in S&M, they'll probably add it with Pokemon Home.

and some other stuff

I'm kind of mixed on the whole National Pokedex thing. I completely understand it for both the main story and the competitive tournament aspects, but I still think that post-game you should be able to obtain every single Pokémon in the franchise. It'll likely be patched in eventually as fans are noticeably unhappy with this - the fans usually win in the end on this kind of stuff if they complain enough, but I don't think it'll effect sales personally. This will almost instantly rival Mario Kart 8 and Smash Bros as the biggest selling game on Switch. It'll probably outsell Let's Go lifetime sales in a matter of weeks or months.

I'm incredibly impressed with how vast the open world area is, this game on the whole looks better than I ever thought it would. When I saw the first trailer it looked very much "Sun & Moon 2.0" but this is actually a significant step forward for Pokémon, one of the biggest leaps ever. Game Freak plays Pokémon very cautiously and it takes a long time to stray too much from the core mechanics, so we get drip fed a lot but I'm OK with that as I don't want my favourite gaming series of all time to suddenly become something different that I may not like as much. I'd suggest to anyone who hasn't seen the Treehouse footage yet to go and watch it, it's about 20 minutes of Wild Area gameplay and it has me sold on this game even if I can only catch 200 Pokémon. I'm sure it'll be well in excess of 500 monsters though.

So there is gonna be a group chat on here for when this game comes out right? Organise some battles, get some 4's going to take on the big bastard Pokémon?
