Gaming Pokémon Go (Android, iOS)

Still playing this on my commute to and from work, liking the look of the new updates and the Solstice Event has done me some good. Managed to get Houndour/Houndoom and Cyndaquil/Quilava/Typhlosion. Also caught a lot of Ponyta, Growlithe and Charmander which has put me very close to getting the maximum capture bonus for Fire-types now as well (should get it today).

Majority of my Eggs have still been gash for a long time, but I've got a lot of the 'Dex done. I'm only missing Dragonite from Gen I (Farfetch'd and Kangaskhan too obviously, but I did get Tauros). I've passed the "Obtain 70 Pokémon first found in Johto" medal as well. Currently missing:

Dragonite
Bayleef / Meganium
Totodile / Croconaw / Feraligatr
Togetic
Mareep / Flaaffy / Ampharos (No idea why this is 10km...)
Sunflora
Yanma
Unown*
Girafarig
Forretress
Granbull
Heracross*
Corsola*
Delibird
Smeargle
Tyranitar

*Not available in this country or just not available yet as far as I'm aware.

Also closing in on Level 30 at last!

Moto G2. Old I know, but I thought it was strange as it ran perfect before. Guess some recent updates might have made it a bit too much to handle.

I do remember when i last played it and I had a similar issue. This was back in November.

I still play, mostly when I should be working. Half way through level 35 now. Started this event at the top end of 34 but been out quite a bit enjoying the good weather.

Looking forward to this new gym overhaul. Botters had taken over my local area so I'd lost interest before this update.

I have completed the entire collection. :D
After playing for a year, I still hadn't even seen a tangela and was still missing a Lapras from the first lot. Then I stopped even seeing silhouettes of anything new, hadn't seen one for months despite only having 60% of the second generation, living in a big city, doing lots of walking and commuting and having the game on almost constantly when I was out wandering or traveling.

In the end I deleted it, was tired of wasting my time with it and recharging my phone twice a day to get jinxes and eevies from 10k eggs.

My luck with 10k Eggs changed a bit, getting another Dratini at last to finally get a Dragonite. Also got four Larvitar out of my last 6-7 10k Eggs, so have Tyranitar as well.

Well on my way to Sunflora and Togetic (40+ Candy each) which would take my 'dex to 223 caught. The only things on my nearby that I missed out on and still don't have were Meganium and Yanma. Also passed Level 30 now!

What's everyone's opinion on Raids and the new Gym structure? I still think they could be a lot better, but it's a definite improvement. I'm Team Instinct and I've managed to hold Gyms for days now, which was never possible previously due to far more Mystic and Valor players. Wish it was a 100 Coins a day limit instead of 50!

Anyone thinking of going to Chester on 22-23 July? I want more information on what's going to be there before I go, as I have a feeling they'll be some Legendary Raids.

Jesus the crowd are raging

What a complete disaster. The lady presenter was hit by a thrown bottle of water too.

The Chester event had its flaws too with phones struggling in the high density areas and an O2 phone mast going down but was a really fun day and good to see 1000s of people playing all over. Have a couple of codes to submit for a new Pokestop too.

GO Fest was a huge disaster as expected. I don't get how they expected to allow so many people (up to 20,000 tickets sold) into one small area at once (I believe around half a mile radius) and expect it to work. I am amazed that they didn't outsource to professionals and try to set up some very powerful Wi-Fi hot-spots all over the show. Or, at least do the event over a few weekends with far less people allowed in at any given time. I didn't go to Chester in the end as I feared for signal issues and how well my phone could handle the game at something like that (I'm still using a Nexus 6 which is pushing three years old by now, waiting for next Google phone rather than settling for the current Pixel XL). Looks like I was right as the signal issues were really bad and I'm on o2 so it would've been a terrible wasted journey.

More on GO Fest firstly, as I think it has probably damaged the game's reputation beyond repair unless they keep offering more bonuses and legendaries for the remainder of the Summer (and then go into Gen 3 swiftly after). It was a PR nightmare and has easily cost TPCi / Niantic well in excess of $2.5million. Absolute shambles.

Instead, I went into Manchester city centre yesterday and there were a lot of players around (easily into the 100's if not 1000+). I managed to take down two Lugia and caught one of them. Failed on Articuno but I'm tempted to head in for a bit again today to try and find another. It's definitely worth trying to play more for the rest of today thanks to bonuses.

There have been some changes to Eggs as well.

I've found raids impossible though, which has killed off some motivation. Living in London nowdays and there are so many going on at once, you never see another player, let alone the 12 or so you need for one of these, I still don't have a Tyranitar let alone a legendary.

I think Raids are a good idea but as you say, it's hard to execute as the higher rank ones need a few people. If you don't know anyone who plays, you're fecked. Legendaries are worse but at least in a city centre on a nice day, you can guarantee some other players will be there to help.

Yeah its annoying. I hate that you can finally take down a big beast with some random people, and then it can escape despite using stuff like goldenberries.
But I still prefer the gym the way it is now compared to the previous way.

Double Candy, Double XP, Double Stardust, 1/2 Buddy Distance, 1/3 Egg Hatch Distance, and Increased Spawns are now extended until Friday 01:00am UK time.

How? I legit have no idea how these raids work. I either never seem able to team uo with anyone or if i go alone against a relatively weak one it times out pretty much instantly.
Helps a lot when you live in a packed city like Hong Kong, most of these 5 stars raids I've done there's never fewer (thanks Ser Davos) than 15 people, so winning is not a problem at all.

I average about 1 catch of these after 3 raids won.

Managed to team up with people a fair bit in Manchester city centre. Got Articuno, Zapdos, Moltres and Lugia. I'm missing Farfetch'd (exclusive) from Gen I, Feraligatr, Ampharos, Delibird, Smeargle, Heracross (exclusive), and Corsola (exclusive) from Gen II.

I've got the 3 gen I birds but still need lugia.
Have a shopping trip to Birmingham tomorrow so should get a kangaskhan and unown.

I really like the new raid system it's got me back into it having got pretty bored prior to the change

The legendary birds motivated my local area to get organised and I've managed to catch all 4 too. Cool to finally meet the faces behind the usernames I've seen in gyms for the past year. Not cool to be spotted by various friends and colleagues, while stood in a large group of people all staring at our phones, and then being asked the next day at work what the feck I was doing.

Looks like theu added a pokestop right outside my house. Might start playing again
