Gaming Pokémon Go (Android, iOS)

Finally have enough candies to evolve my Graveler, Gloom, Nidorina and Nidorino.

The only thing that's going to prevent me completing the Pokedex will be Snorlax, Hitmonchan and Hitmonlee. Never even seen any of them on my radar. I have another 2 10km eggs right now but I'm expecting Jynx and Onix.

Saw a Hitmonchan on the radar last night for the first time since I've been playing. Used the fastpokemap.se site to find it. Wasn't a very high CP but I chucked a razzberry and then an ultra ball. The sod took the razzberry, broke out of the ultra ball after two rolls and sped straight off! Was fuming... mitigated this morning by finding and catching my first Lapras.

My two 10k eggs were a Scyther and Onix. So thats 2xMagmar, 3xOnix, 1xScyther, 2xPinsir and 1xJynx.

:(

Not really, but I was a bit unlucky with my attacks though. It can be usefull on water types. I've got the starter pokemons in egg, but I still dont have Venusaur and Charizard which is irritating me alot lol.
I actually caught my first bulba outside of Holland Park in Vauxhall yesterday. They apparently do exist elsewhere. I have about five bulbas, all c50-60% IV, but about 253 bulba candy. Might evolve one for the pokedex and save the rest for the off-chance that I finally get a decent one.

:(
I haven't had a 10km egg for weeks. I reckong my last 25 have been 95% 5km and 5% 2km. I refuse to believe 10km eggs actually exist any more.

On another note, the Rhyhorn nest at the local girl's school - ooer- has changed to a Poynta one, which is cool.

I heard earlier that certain pokestops are more giving when it comes to 10k eggs than others. There's about 12-15 stops that I frequent regularly and I've had a couple of 10k eggs recently, I just need to figure out which it is that is giving them and camp there to test it out.

Currently have a 72.9% squirtle and 120 candy. If my next squirtle or two does not have better IVs I'm not sure I could hold off evolving to a blastoise. Would I be making a mistake if I evolved it? It's quite a low level too, 199 CP.

I'd wait if you can. I evolved a Squirtle when I first got the chance to get Wartortle but it's pretty terrible and since then I've hatched a bunch of 90% Squirtles from eggs. I'm nearing 100 candies but I think I'm going to wait till 125 and skip my crappy Wartortle. I did the same thing with a Bulbasaur (80%) and hatched two 98%s since so I'm starting again with that one.

I've hatched a small army of really good Bulbasaurs, Charmanders and Squirtles actually, bad luck with 10k eggs but 2k eggs have been good to me.

Finally managed to get a Lapras today. Takes me up to 140 on the pokedex with Muk to make it 141 once I've walked enough grimer candies.

Last one I need is Chansey. Apparently you can find it but I've never seen it come up on nearby Pokemon. Anybody had any luck with it ?

Never seen a Chansey. Was at a hotel last week that was an Onyx nest. Caught 5 Onyx in about 3 hours. All of them terrible.

My 2k eggs have been unrelentingly crap. Weedles, Pidgeys and Spearows exclusively. My 10k eggs have been as bad. I've had Eevee's, Jynx, Pinsir and Onyx. I'm still waiting for my Lapras and Snorlax...

Gah, Niantic have killed fastpokemap!

Without some way of locating a handful of the rarer pokemon when they crop up every now and then within 15 minutes walk of where I am at any given time, the game is restricted to pointless wandering in hope. It's bad enough it keeps losing track of movement and having to be restarted repeatedly without them removing this too.

Whatever happened to that tracking feature they were supposed to be introducing but only a handful of people got?

My last two 2km eggs were Rattata and Pidgey ffs, but the two before were Bulba and Charmander. I always get fecking 5km ones though and they only ever give you Poliwags, Shellders and the like. Just finally got a 10km egg for the first time in a month. Weirdly, I caught a Snorlax on the street round the corner yesterday- first one I've seen out and about (crap CP of 1220 though). I've hatched one from an egg.

Yeah, it's been so mishandled. The maps keep people playing ffs- they can't recognise that and think you'll play longer, wandering blind, without. That is a massive letdown and would be more palatable if they had that tracking system or whatever to fill the void...but they don't.

Niantic have announced some upcoming updates. The first one I like the sound of. The second one I'm not so sure.

Earn a New Capture Bonus to Increase the Odds of Catching Rare Pokémon

Trainers,

We want to give you a sneak peek of a feature coming soon to Pokémon GO. We are adding a new feature which grants a catch bonus when you earn medals based on catching certain types of Pokémon (Kindler, Psychic, Gardener, etc.). These new bonuses will give you a better chance of capturing Pokémon with a related type. For example, as you reach a higher tier for the Kindler Medal, your bonus to catch Fire-type Pokémon such as Charmander, Vulpix and Ponyta increases.

Trainers can work their way to a new tier by catching many Pokémon of the same type. If a Pokémon has multiple types, your bonus will be the average of your bonuses for each type. For example, Pidgey is both Normal and Flying type. Your bonus in this case would be the average of your Normal-type and Flying-type bonuses.

Look forward to this new feature coming soon!

Gym Training Just Got Easier...

Trainers,

As we continue to make improvements to Pokémon GO, we have made an enhancement to the Gym experience for Trainers of all levels. In an upcoming version of Pokémon GO, when training at a friendly Gym, Trainers will be able to bring six Pokémon to battle instead of one. In addition, the CP of the Pokémon you are training against may be temporarily adjusted lower during your training session to generally match your Pokémon’s battle capabilities.

No matter what your level, you can now have an impact on your team’s Gym. Walk with your Buddy Pokémon to that nearby landmark and show your Team Leader that you can battle with the best!

Guys, I need a bunch of Charmander and Bulbasaur however, apparently the nests have all changed over the past week or so?

I know for example that Holland Park in London was a Bulbasaur nest, but has that changed too?

Any London nests left for these two?

Check out the silph road atlas. They are mapping all nests.

Just had a quick look for you and it looks like you should be able to find charmanders at victoria embankment gardens, hilly fields and caledonian park. Bulbasaurs at lincoln's inn fields.

You can create an account to see comments from the users who have verified those locations. They sometimes give more useful information where exactly you can find them in those areas.

Greenwich park (Blackheath side) was a charmander nest about a month ago. Not been there for a while though

Certainly a month ago, Holland Park was still rammed with bulbas and nearby you got a lot of charmanders- the other side of HP station between Ladbroke Grove and Notting Hill stations, in the gardens. Roads are fecking hilly round there though.

In Athens now. Caught a PrimeApe in my hotel room and could see two new things on the radar- a thing with curved spikes out of its shoulders and a small blobbly thing. Growlithes and all sorts popping up. Sadly I don't have roaming, so need to find wifi which is few and far between in the old school tavernas:(

It's incredibly frustrating having to rely on the in-game "tracking". How often do you find that there are three things you want showing as nearby, yet when your phone vibrates, it's none of the three things at the top of the list! It's essentially random which ones you will find.

I could understand Niantic shutting down map sites if it was a service they offered, but it's not. Why don't they just add it as a premium feature now they know how many people use them?

Guys, with the newest update, you know the fastest way to level up your teams gym? The method I used with taking just the first pokemon with a lower CP pokemon does only give 100 exp after the update. Caught my first fully evolved Blastoise in my town today with 2000 something, not the best attacks or IV, though.

It depends on what pokemon you are fighting against. The new mechanics mean the prestige is worked out with the highest CP pokemon of the 6 you choose. Ideally you want to beat the opposing pokemon with a pokemon half it's cp, just like before.

So for example, if you're against a 1000cp pokemon, you ideally want to choose a 500cp pokemon which will give you 1000 prestige for beating it (the maximum prestige possible). That means you need to choose 6 pokemon and all have to be 500cp or below.

In terms of whether to train vs just the lowest pokemon or fight numerous ones, it depends what's there. If people have given any thought to putting their pokemon in the gym to help their teammates out training it up, they should put pokemon in of a similar cp. In my area I see a lot of fire pokemon as the lowest cp in gyms, so I often put another fire pokemon of my own in at a similar cp level. Then teammates can come along and destroy both with some decent water pokemon with much lower cp. I like the changes. If done properly, you can level gyms up in no time now.

Nice explained, mate. But didn't quite get why they would put pokemon in of a similar CP? I understood the idea with putting a fire pokemon with a low CP as the first one in the gym cause it's easy to take down with a lower CP water pokemon. When that's said, if you want a strong gym you wouldn't want just low CP pokemon and neither just fire pokemons. People normally put their strongest Pokemons in gyms, and if u now have to beat the whole gym to gain some good exp(500 exp or more) you'd have to put some extra effort in it seems, specially when you have to use a Pokemon which is just half the CP of the pokemons in gyms. So I don't how you can really lvl up gyms in no time now compared to before the update?

I meant that ideally the first 2 or 3 pokemon in the gym should be a similar cp. For example if you put 3 Flareons in at 1500 cp each, you can rip through them with water pokemon of 750 or less with ease. Then run from the gym and you've earned 3000 prestige in no time. You can get gyms to 10 in no time this way. You don't want to be fighting every pokemon in the gym, just the easiest to prestige against and then run from the battle.

You're right though, that this also means the gym can be taken down easier. I suppose it depends on your area, but around me 10 gyms normally last a while even if they have weak pokemon at the bottom. It still takes the best part of an hour to bring them all the way down and not many people have that sort of time on their hands.

Oh now I got it. Gonna try it on a local gym tomorrow for sure and see how it works out. In my area, gyms usually doesn't even last a full day before it's taken down by another team, no mattter what lvl it is.

Good news - Niantic are finally doing something other than remove features!

For anyone too lazy to click:

From this Wednesday (tomorrow) until Tuesday:

  • Gastly, Haunter, Gengar, Drowzee, Hypno, Zubat, and Golbat have increased spawn rate.
  • Candy is doubled for catching, hatching, and transferring.
  • Your Buddy Pokémon will find Candy at 4x the usual rate.

Increased spawn rate of Pokemons that there are plenty of in my area already, and which I'm tired of catching really... Double candy is nice, though.

Yeah, can't say I'm excited about Drowzee and Zubat.

Gastly is welcome though, I got a 97.8% IV one not long ago, it's now a Haunter but 50 Candy away from a Gengar. Hope I catch a fair few of them!

It's all about the 4x candy for walking your buddy. I'm going to pull my bike out and get my last 20 candy to evolve my Charizard. Depending how much time I get I'll start working towards my first Dragonite too, but with it getting dark shortly after I get home from work I doubt I'll make much progress.

Have they increased the allowed speed or are you just cycling really slow? Last I tried was quite a while ago but whenever I'm out on my bike it hardly records any movement at all.

I cycle really slow  Or at least I used to when I was more into this game. I went full nerd and downloaded an app called SpeedOverlay so I can stay below 10.5km/h.

Ugh, I tried it but I just get too annoyed. My normal commute to work is 12km at a 22km/h pace, dropping that to 10km/h is just too painfully slow.

Living in a very small town certainly isn't helping either though, with a grand total of 2 pokestops and the lovely variety of Pidgey & Rattata.

I was miffed at the fact Cubone and Marowak weren't included in the list of 'Spooky' Pokemon. Fortunately, it looks like they are. Just had Gastly, Cubone and Marowak on nearby turning the game on in my house, caught Cubone.

:lol:Can tell you don't have my commute- I've caught 77 of the bastards, already evolved Gengar and currently have 155 Gastly candy, as part of a looming mass evolve.

So with this offer, can I do the mass evolve and save using a lucky egg but get the same doubling up? Got about 115 things that need evolving. Seriously full bag.

Just caught a cubone in my living room too! Only ever caught a couple in Athens before on a weekend away earlier this month. Got so many Growlithe there too.

Am up to 186 Drowzees now ffs- I seriously don't need those feckers becoming more common.

They are for sure. I caught like 10-15 of them in one round with lures. Have never seen that many of them before. Those are much better to get than just regular gastlys and zubats at least.

 I feel you. I've caught just too many of those feckers, I'm not even bothering to evolve them and zubats these days, just gonna see how fast I'll get a couple k candys of them lol.

Already got a Gengar a long time ago myself, and now sitting on almost 400 candy of them lol...

Yeah, the added Cubone/Marrowak is a bonus. I'm happy about the Gastly too because there's not that many of them around here.

Feel for you Manchester lot though, getting more Drowzee. When I was there last I was practically surrounded by the feckers.

I saw a Canadian on reddit jokingly thanking Niantic for reducing the Drowzee spawn rate as he now catches the odd Cubone too.

In the 3+ months I've had this game, I collected a little over 30 Cubone candy. After today I'm up to 137. So glad I'm primarily coming across Cubones and Gastlys rather than Zubats and Drowzees.

Ditto- didn't have Marowak and caught one on the platform at Hammersmith this morning. had about 13 cubone candy- now got 75!

I'm in London and the Drowzee epidemic is ridiculous! Already evolved a bunch and got 453 candy.

Saying that, the buddy boost is really good, as is the double points for catching things. Might finally get my bloody Magikarp evolved! Got three today and now 357.
Got a Dratini from a rare 10km egg though, which is less good.
