Exactly right now we cant afford players that are great when the team is great we need players that can be great when the team are poor, who can lift the team. I don't blame him if he wants to leave, careers are short and he wants champions league football but as long as he is here he should be giving 100% and doing his business quietly in the background.
You'll find a whole lot of potentially better players than Pogba, Sanchez, Lukaku, Matic, Herrera, Mata that would want to make it at any big club. Obviously United is one of the biggest clubs in the world, there won't be any shortage on good players wanting to join us in the future. Look at Liverpool, Spurs etc. struggling for years with quality and suddenly they find a whole lot of good players. You know they don't have to be overpaid and over the hill players or prima-donnas who doesn't want to win anything with the club and treat United like a high paying stepping stone.
It is not optimal to lose your potentially best players obviously, but sometimes other aspects is more important. If Pogba had shown consistency in performances you'd not see many want him out, if he showed some loyalty we would have given him more time because of his potential. As it stands, he hasn't proved himself to be a world class player for United, and he wants out. Only one way to handle that situation, isn't it? It sucks, but there is simply no point collecting players who doesn't want to perform for the club.
While you do have a point, you are proposing we just keep on doing the things we have been doing, which we also know doesn't work. Wouldn't you rather try to change it instead of relying on desperate overpaid and overhyped big money signings? You'd be happy if we sign Dybala and keep Pogba at this point? I think that is just papering over the cracks. It might give us a transfer muppet rush, but after that we're still stuck with a player who doesn't want to be here and a player that wasn't good enough for Juventus despite being rated as world class by many.
I can be tired of Pogba's attitude or at least what he shows on the pitch, way to much sulking and walking around, careless and bad decisions but when he is arsed he is definetly one of the best midfielder out there. His numbers alone this season, in this shitty team as well as the things he can do just prove that.
It's Woodies or someone with power at the club's fault we havent built a propper team around him. Why did we go all out for him and than not push on, how many games did he play partnered with Fellaini for an example ffs. Can anyone blame him for wanting out, sure the team should have played better and can only blame them selfs for not making CL but the club is in shambles it seems, and has been for a while, it's only Fergie's genius that papered over the cracks it seems.
We finished 2nd last season and spent next to nothing to close the gap, the board and owners are showing no ambition and just don't seem to care as long as money is made, but that won't last in the same amounts if things on the pitch don't improve.
Sorry for ranting a bit off topic, I'm just pissed and tired, when Mou got fired we were promised DoF and careful planning and reconstruction and although early days it's just not looking bright for the summer. Where is all that?
Don't believe everything in the press and hopefully we will be positively suprised but listening to Ole lately is not optimistic.
Whatever happens, if we sell him or not, I almost don't care anymore. If he wants gone it's probably best to get rid, sad if that is the case but I sure do hope we take Real Madrid to the cleaners than and make them pay 200m pounds at least, some might think that's unrealistic but Pogba has three years left on his contract and is going into his peak years. Considering the market, why should he not cost that?
And through the past 20 years Real M have gone after so many of our players while usually trying to screw us over when we come to them (according to papers), hate that club.
They got Ronaldo for peanuts (in hindsight sure), but they got one of the best player ever, he won them everything, broke every record, became absolute legend at the club and than they sold him for more than what they got him for. Sure they paid wages through the years but that has to be the best piece of transfer ever. Don't want anything similiar happening here, don't get me wrong, Pogba is not Ronaldo level but he is by far our best player when on his day and you just know that when arsed and with propper team around him he will be bossing games and putting in even better numbers.

Your judgment is questionable. Pogba was a fan favorite at Juve and to this day he's still lavished with praise by their legends, particularly Pirlo. He joined this club at the wrong time, we're on the wane.
It probably won't be far from that. Pogba wants out, Bale is surplus to requirements yet Ed is gonna believe his high profile and previous work in the PL will save face by swapping a 'superstar' for another 'superstar'. But the truth is both are damaged goods from a perception/reputation.
There might be fuzzy math done in the papers to make both sides look good but in no way is anyone paying 160M for Pogba and no other team has the money to pay what Real would want + the wages for Bale. Soft landing for both players and clubs. Have a feeling that both clubs and respective supporters will regret the move at a later date.
Yh but there's damaged good and damaged goods. Pogba, for all his attitude issues, is in my mind a truly top class CM and he has been playing in a team of below par players since he joined us. Bale, however, is properly damaged goods (literally his body is like Phil Jones') and I think we'd be foolish to want him here.

Not even a world record fee, 250 million or whatever, should be considered. Every single person associated with Manchester United is replaceable - players, coaches, manager, CEO, owners - with one world class exception. There have been good arguments made for both selling and keeping Pogba. I personally would base it all on what the player wants. Didn't know you give out likes based on opinions and whether they match your own. The rest of his post he says he'd sell the rest of our entire squad. It's just madness that somebody could be annoyed at everyone in our squad except Pogba, even for the most contrarian person. Pogba is the first name that comes up when i talk to people about the problems at United.

I used to see it this way but your last paragraph perfectly exemplifies why ideally he should go. Fantastic player and talent but only when it suits him. We can't build a team that gets the best out of him without relying on him because he's someone who doesn't fit neatly in to any tactical setup and would necessitate us having to build a team around him, which as the last 2 seasons have shown, is impossible to do because he's so prone to these excessive dips in form and temprement.
I think Pogba will give it a ago, a full season under Ole.
I don't know if it is right to keep him and build a team around him. For me you need a player with consistency to build a team around, and Pogba has not got that.
