If they want this it will happen regardless of whether you think they can afford it or if you think they need him.
This won’t be the first time they get cash outta nowhere and won’t be the last.

But it defies even their logic.

This isn't like them breaking the world record twice within a few weeks when they bought Kaka and Ronnie - there was an obvious space in the team for both at the time, and while the sums were outrageous, there was a plan to it and they did both with little to no trouble that summer.

In this instance, the likes of Marca and AS have both laid out Madrid's position: a) Zidane wants him; b) but Perez and the fans aren't particularly fussed; c) Utd are asking for too much money; d) they need to get rid of Bale &/or James.

What has transpired, is that Bale and James are staying, Marca and AS have barely said a word on the deal, outside of rehashing the bollocks in the Italian media, and Raiola and Pogba have been put in their places. If a deal was in the offing, you can be damn sure Raiola in particular would be in the spotlight, like he was in 2016, or when MDL moved this summer.

And I haven't even started on the 1bn+ stadium redevelopment that they've committed to... In this FFP era, with the requirement that clubs can only have a 100m net spend that is in force this summer, this deal just isn't going to happen.

Before this summer they've basically spent nothing net on transfers in five or six years. They have the money, they always find the money. I don't see how you thinking they could put the money to better use makes any difference as to if they are more or less likely to spend it on Pogba.

Zidane went back there with a very strong negotiating stance and the only consistency coming out of Madrid since day one was he wanted both Pogba and Hazard.
Yes, HE wanted that. Perez and the board know their capabilities and with the new FFP rules this summer, such a deal would only ever be possible if they sold Bale and James.

One of those has been confirmed to stay, and the other is possibly the most toxic commodity on the market that no one, not even Ed Woodward, wants to touch.

Betcha Woodward would take Bale in a heartbeat if he was given any encouragement by the player.

No Pogba tonight and Di Marzio talking about Dybala and Bruno coming in.

Id be over the moon with that.

IF Pogba actually wants to leave. Id take a motivated Pogba over either of the aforementioned.

But it seems like something is afoot.

Pogba surely don't wanna leave now if he knows he's going to play with quality in Bruno and his best mate Paulo? Come on Paul, your new challenge is here!

No.

I don't. I just said that if the player offered some encouragement, Woodward would try and get him.
Can't see it. There's been a few reports stating the club don't want him both this and last summer.

Someone should have a word with him. Tell him Jose could be his boss at Madrid before Christmas if it all goes pete tong for Zidane.

It’s not impossible.

If he stays it will only be one more season. Better sell as he seems very unhappy being here and represents us.

I don’t care who the opposition may be, but that pass for the penalty is the reason the club would be negligent to get rid at this point.

We don’t have a player that can do that. We won’t be able to buy one either.

Agreed.
