I often wonder that if Pogba did not come through our academy, his career would be different. I still think he would be a professional footballer, but there would not be as much hype about. I think it was us United fans that hyped him up to be what he is not. "The one Fergie let go."

I remember years ago saying that he was not as good as he was hyped up to be and i was eaten alive for it.

We can say all what we want about him but he is our best player by far and he is in top 10 midfielders in the world. Losing him is a huge blow. I am gutted that he is leaving. Despite everything.

QFT

But he's doing the right thing, he's at a club with almost zero ambition to win things, he can see it and other top players like De Ligt and Jadon Sancho can see it.

With Raiola coming out publicly, Pogba’s fee will drop, so we take 100mil + Ceballos, and call it a day.

Spend it on Fabian Ruiz plus Longstaff or Partey.

Add Dani Olmo and we’ll have technical players that know how to press high.
Fee won't drop at all.

He's on a contract. How can he so openly be so disloyal to his club? A club cannot approach a player without talking to the club first, right? There should also be rules that regulate the vultures, or so called agents as well. They are leeches in the game.

Also, I think I tired of the weekly Pogba Show two years ago. He might have the talent, and from time to time, usually no longer than 30 minutes, we can see that he has abilities combined that arguably no other footballer has. However, he is consistently far from world class. A good 30 minute spell in the odd game does not detract from that. If people genuinely believe that, I'd argue that Arnautovic is one helluva player, but he isn't.

Please, just sell him. Whether it be 100m or 150m, just sell him!

Any player who doesn’t want to play for the club can leave. I would t care too much how it affects us or the kind of hole his absence would leave creatively. He wants to leave because Pogba is out for Pogba and not much more. Nothing wrong with it. But we shouldn’t be worried what the world will look like after.

At least one thing this will do is, when Pogba leaves there will be a need for a highly marketable face. The face brings in the money too and Woodward will see the upside financially beyond just the football upside.

We are in rebuild mode. We must rebuild only with people that care for the short. Everyone else can sod off for all I care.

I don't think he is consistently our best player. When did he win player of the year for us? In what Pogba says was his best season, Shaw won the Busby award. Herrera has consistently been a better midfielder for us since Pogba arrived, and I'd argue Herrera has been more important to us. The thing is, nobody would argue that Herrera can't be replaced. An inconsistent, you never know which Pogba will show up, is not a huge blow to miss. I am thrilled that he is leaving and sick and tired of his outspoken disloyalty towards the club.

The Pogba situation hasn't changed since May. The ball has always been in Madrid's court. Raiola could kick up a fuss, Pogba could hand in a transfer request, but nothing will happen unless Madrid pay £150m+ (I suspect Woodward will demand more), and there is zero chance of Madrid offering anything close to that.

He's not going anywhere.

He s the most "marketed" player in.the team for sure. Since he came, we also signed players to "suit" or get the best out of him. Maybe that s why his personal stats were so good after all.
(for example if you have a player that only get into the easiest tackles, his stats will be very good.)

Just read there on twitter that James Milner came out best at 33 years old in a lactate test. Basically the liverpool players were made run laps until they cramped up. Milner was the last to remain. Wonder how pogba would fare in such a test.

I say this because John Giles made the point last season that you are much better with Milner in your MF than Pogba. His argument was that although pogba was more creative, Milner worked harder.

I think it's on your roof. Or at least now that Raiola has spoken ,you do not have that much advantage.
There is a month left to close your market and you have a player whose agent has said openly that he does not want to play for you. "Toxic" according to several opinions in this thread, while you keep asking for "Neymaresque" amounts.
For us it is a problem because he is a request of the coach but we have Eriksen and Van de Beek waiting for a call

Rayola's and Pogba's words give no advantage to Real Madrid. The buyer will have to make an offer that will make the Glazers happy. It won't be easy or cheap. If anything, Paul is in awkward situation now. If Real do not cough up the money, he will have stay with United being with a manager and players who he openly admitted to be willing to part his ways with. Kudos to Ed, Madrid will have to pay hell lot and I am not sure if their purchase will be worth the money. For us, however, 120+ million quid means 2 quality mids.

You'll still be. Pogba's cult is insane on here for some reason.

That's just not true. Pogba was better during his first season and especially during his second season. Pogba being inconsistent last season doesn't change that he was still better than Herrera and also actually available.

looked for the article. Could not find it again.

he is not likely to take a pay cut anyways.
That was what was said if he left us.

Other reports have indicated that he would take a pay cut to join Madrid. Not that I would believe those reports, but I doubt the issue is that we aren't offering enough money to him. He's going to earn a lot whether he is at United or not.

I really do rate him as a player, I think he’ll be incredible for Real Madrid. I expect an awful lot of tears here when he starts doing the business for them.

His attitude stinks though, it’s clear for everyone to see. If he doesn’t want to be here he can go, and we’ll build a team of players that want to play for us and are committed to the cause.

Sell him and get Longstaff and a Bruno or Maddison. I am so sick of Pogba, both as a player and off the field.

A couple of Milners are an asset when you have Salah/Mane type threats.

If we brought Milner in for Pogba, we'd be relying on Lingardinho and Martial.

Most marketable means little in the football context. Even when we brought in players to get the best out of him, or changed our system to play to get the best out of him, he was inconsistent at best.

Put up 150m in the next couple of weeks, or disappear as it's too late for us to do anything to replace him.
Simples.

Herrera was voted Busby player of the season - Pogba never was. He never deserved to be. Last season, Herrera didn't play as much, but we played much better as a team when he did play. And Herrera was never a world class player.

sorry mate could you elaborate on this please? Im clearly watching another Pogba the last 3 years to a select few people on here, saying stuff like this

I think from a United perspective, keeping toxic Pogba is still less bad than losing him at a cut-price in a summer with no CL football and with an unproven manager. The club will struggle to replace him.
Once Madrid give up on Pogba, they will sign Eriksen and/or Van de Beek, so there will be a good chance then that Pogba will sign a new contract with United.

And €170-180m for Pogba in a summer when Atletico had to pay 126m for some unproven Portuguese teenager, seems to be a reasonable deal for Madrid.

I think United will be very lucky to get the price they payed for him.

He didn't accomplish much at United, played poorly most of the time is hardly a leader taking responsability and is forcing an exit.

Anyone else think this is good news?

I think we should all be delighted that Paul le Virus is wanting out.

The sooner he goes the better and his ego is better served at clubs elsewhere.

He's been bad for our club from day one.

Let's all rejoice! Paul le Virus is being removed from our club.

yep. If he is here for the season it will be his sideshow again

If we could I'd sell him to China or Galatasary for £25m but with an 85% sell on clause.

Give the little idiot some time out of the spotlight for a year just to spite him. We'd still make some money when he then gets his move...if their fans don't riot at him that is!

Absolutely no chance this is true.

We probably won't get near the silly amounts we're all banding around, but there's no way we don't make a profit on him.
