Gaming PlayStation 5

Just play the two other Hazelight games after It Takes Two, they are all gems. A new game by the studio arriving soon named Split Fiction (March i believe) as well, probably another masterpiece.

On a different note, Stanley Parable coming to PS Plus in January, thats a game I would easily recommend to anyone.
Loved Brothers, gotta try and play their other games, just wish I had someone to play couch multiplayer with but those days seem gone

GT7 is what tempts me most but I don't want to spend that amount and then after an hour be like "meh over this now" and never use it again.

My metaquest is fine but basically the only time I use it is when I'm showing it to someone else.
Hasn't the PSVR2 been on sale for £350 many times this year? Maybe even now?

Anyway, at that price it's a no brainer there's plenty of games at or past the quality of what's on Quest...

Have basically retired the console for 4k blu rays for evenings. As others have stated the general quality of games the last few years is diminishing.

Think the only game / publisher that can compensate overall quality with hype and general expectation is Rockstar via the new GTA. Obviously very subjective but I think unless your interested in RPG's there's nothing on the market.

Will potentially give DBZ sparking zero a try but that's about it.
Same here. The only game I play these days, though not often, is Gran Turismo. Football games have become shit and most other games are also generally boring these days. The last game I purchased was the latest Assassin’s Creed but I lost interested in it so fast I don’t want to spend money on another game anytime soon.

Any trophy hunters here?

Managed to get two platinum trophies in a single day today which I'm pretty thrilled about.

The first Astro Bot was intentional as I've been playing through with my daughter and found myself only a few trophies away on completion.

The second was a complete accident, Helldivers 2!

After completing Astrobot I thought I'd look how far away I was with Helldivers, low and behold I was two trophies off but they seemed pretty hard to achieve.

My first game of the day, my squad finish a blitz mission in under 6 minutes... now only one away.

The final trophy was to complete a mission without using a primary weapon, after some thinking it was too hard to achieve (using a blitz mission). So 30 minutes later, that popped too.

First time getting two platinums in a day, they do feel like an achievement.

My most difficult platinum was probably Helldivers 1, what was yours?

I barely touched my PS5 in 2024, maybe 10-15 hours total if even that. Got Astro Bot yesterday and been having a blast so far, it’s really as close as anyone got to Mario games. It’s been on the easy side so far but hoping that challenge will come with new levels.

@Damien loves a plat

GTA trilogy is £21 currently on the PS store. Is it any good? Mainly for nostalgic purposes it must be worth that?

Now it has been fixed, it's pretty good. Other than playing on original hardware, it's the best way to play those games. Personally, I found it hard to go back. Loved them at the time, but I don't really enjoy playing them now.

I have 75 plats…I have a problem, I know! To be fair some of them are duplicates like when you complete it on the PS4 and it synchs with the PS5.

As others have said sometimes trophies can actually kill your enjoyment, But they can also feel great when you are forced to play a certain way or do a difficult challenge. Beating RE1 for instance against invisible enemies or with only a knife is pretty ridiculous but it does add another layer to the survival element of the game’s design.

I'm nothing compared to Reditus and Irwin's numbers.

Bloodborne is probably technically my most difficult plat but the chalice dungeons made it a piece of cake relatively speaking. If I ever get the plat in one of the Crash games that'd probably be my toughest as I'm shit with speedruns and jumping over holes as a few members can attest.

Astro Bot was fantastic. There's a secret Christmas level unlocked too when you complete the game, my nephew and neice loved it. It's got to be the worst generation for PlayStation overall though, despite the sales. Then again Sony have no competition these days, so there's no real initiative to flood the market with great games anymore.

I’m past the first two worlds and really loving this so far. It’s not at the level at Mario Odyssey but it’s a super enjoyable game. Still a bit on the easy side but I don’t mind it much, I can use a less intense experience.

Last PS5 game I finished prior to this was GTA5 back in 2022, and before then Ghost of Tsushima. I don’t think I’ve finished any other PS5 games having owned it since launch. I’m really keeping it only to play GTA6 when it’s out.

I have basically switched to Switch entirely in the last two years, even in its worst year in a while it still got a couple of pretty fun games last year.

Good for you, Switch is at least filled with Astro Bot type genres. I'm the same as you, only I switched to PC. There's always something to play on Steam at least. Speaking of Ghost Of Tsushima, that was the last game I tried to replay on PS5 because I originally completed the older PS4 version, but around an hour in I said to myself "do I really want to complete a game I've already done so" and that was that. It's a generation of remakes..

I'm actually looking forward to quite a few games coming this year, just off the top of my head:

Sniper elite: resistance
Ac: shadows
Kingdom come deliverance 2
Ghost of yotei
Atomfall
GTA 6?

Those are all fairly big games for me. GoY and GTA will probably slip into 2026 mind

Just finished Aliens Dark Descent. I’m shocked that we actually got a really good game based on the Aliens movie. It took nearly 40 years but we got one in the end (Alien Isolation is brilliant but based on the first movie).

Can't feckin wait for the new sniper elite game, it'll be more of the same but they're ridiculously good fun.

Last night me and swoosh basically stealthed an entire level (about 80mins of great coordinated work) until near the end when I decided throwing a grenade was a smart move, then all hell broke loose. Swoosh 100% wants to kill me sometimes I swear

Anyone here played Stellar Blade? On sale for €50, reduced from €80. Hearing great things about it and supposed to be pro enhanced too.

I’ve started Kingdom Come: Deliverance. Think I got it for like a fiver and seems up my street with the way you can complete things multiple ways and everything having an impact, down to your clothes, cleanliness, weapons on show, etc.. all seems quite cool in theory but something that can lose its charm in practise.

Seems quite clunky so far but enjoying it. Circle to sprint is a bit odd. Ended up haggling in the wrong direction and losing money so I had to sell my shirt to pay for the charcoal.

How are you finding the combat?

I stopped playing it because it felt so strange/hard.

Will get KC2 though next month

I’ve only done the sparring with the wooden swords. Currently still doing what feels like Prologue stuff.

Absolutely!

To be fair one of the times I blew something up with a grenade, I thought I was applying as bandage...

It's a great game despite the clunkiness. Tried it on PS5 a few times but hate the combat mechanics in comparison to keyboard/mouse.

100% my old trick that  amazing forgetting the buttons. I think grenades are underrated on sniper elite, aslong as you're a good distance away from the rest of the Nazis they're great, even then you get a couple kills and it's a distraction for others.
