Gaming PlayStation 5

Is Seperate ways free?!!! that's generous of Capcom if so. Was going to buy it anyway and i'm surprised it's only a week away.

Surely it's dead on arrival? Who wants a $200 handheld that can't play games on its own or cloud stream them? You're tied to your home wifi and local PS5 library. It's a baffling product.

I'll probably grab it for the same reason I really like the Switch. Playing in bed or around the house when the TV is taken by my wife watching her shows

Think it can work too. Was always surprised about how badly people thought about the WiiU as a console because of all the shortcomings and problems the idea itself was wonderful and I wouldn‘t buy another console that can‘t be used with an optional handheld style asset.

It's different when it's a feature of the console itself. This is something completely new. You need to have a PS5 and it's going to cost £200. I can't see it doing well.

I know basically everybody has internet these days, but it also requires that to work. It's another potential barrier.

Not saying you're wrong but in itself it's a useful option and if it's 150 at some point it may work, who knows. Isn't steamdeck quite expensive as well? Was just saying that I like the general idea pretty much since the WiiU. But that's also my last console so I'm not totally up to speed what features are available. When my daugther is a bit older, seven now, I defo get a switch, or whatever the model is named then.

Yeah, it could definitely be useful for people that play games on a shared TV. I do think the idea of the Wii U and Switch are great, but it's because it's a built in feature of the console. Steam Deck is expensive, but it's standalone and doesn't require anything else to work. You don't have to buy anything else to use them as handhelds. I could definitely be wrong, but I expect the PlayStation Portal to be a hard sell.

I'm sure your daughter will love the Switch. They're great!

PS network shitting the bed. First night in weeks I’m free to chat, drink, and play FIFA or golf with my buddy and PSN is trashed, allowing no game invites. Solo play? Nah, BG3 crashing unless you nuke your WiFi. Really glad I get to pay more per year for this excellent service.

I bought the Resi 4 Remake in prep for its VR mode, so I decdied to playthrough it again after beating it on Xbox and I loved it even more this time. I played on standard both times. I just don't have it in me to play on harder difficulties and go for the platinum.

I beat saddler and I had ZERO bullets left for any weapon. I thought I would have to reload a save but then here comes Ada to save the day with the rocket launcher!

I'm deffo going to buy the Separate Ways DLC in a couple of days. Can't wait.

Any trophy hunters on the Caf then?

Have started trying to. Hit ME 1, ME 2, Gran Turismo 5, Crisis Core, Fallen Order, Miles Morales, Jedi Survivor, FF XVI, and FF VIII platinums in the past year or so. A few others I am close to hitting the plat with but need a couple of days where I can just sit down and play.

I finally got round to playing God of War Ragnarok. I'm having so much fun with it, I want to see how it ends but I also want to keep the adventure going. Can't believe I held off for so long!

Yeah, somewhat. I'm not mental with it like some, but i do enjoy going for the platinum. I've only got 38 (I think) but I don't play that many games. The ones I do play, I try to get the platinum in.

@Reditus is the main one. I kind of am but got majorly distracted this year with only four platinums, 39 total.

Very nice — 39 is very respectable! I’ve been doing it for just over a year now. I have 16, with number 17 looming. Could’ve/should’ve have a few more by now, but Crash Bandicoot took much longer than it should have!

I have Miles Morales, too. I loved it. Some nice titles there too. I have FFX, FFX-2 and FF8 in my backlog. Like you, if I was blessed with time I could finally make a dent in them!

Me too - I very much enjoy the process. Gives an added bite to some of the newer titles I’ve played too. I enjoyed Hogwarts Legacy, but the Platinum encouraged me to experience some facets of the game that I would have previously skipped or not bothered with.

I'm on 90 platinums right now, although that's including a lot of crap. Been playing Miles Morales atm to get ready for Spider-Man 2.

Congrats on Crash, that is a dream for me but not sure I have the coordination/patience for the time trials etc.

Mine:
  1. Tearaway (Vita, 2013)

  27. Stray (PS5, 2022)
  28. Marvel's Spider-Man (PS4, 2022)
  29. second auto-pop PS5 version of Final Fantasy VII Remake but to be fair I wanted to play the Integrade DLC and quickest way was to pop first
  30. What Remains of Edith Finch (PS5, 2022) - I played the PS4 version of this without a plat in 2020 and wanted to play it again to get the plat. Really good game and no auto-pops involved.
  31. Goat Simulator (PS4, 2022)

  38. Assassin's Creed II (PS4, 2023)
  39. Assassin's Creed Brotherhood (PS4, 2023)
Going to try not to do any more auto-pops unless there's a situation similar to VII Remake where the upgraded version releases DLC later. Most of the games were either played through Essential/Extra/Premium or from my backlog.

Going through Assassin's Creed Revelations now but the first person sections are making me nauseous.

Very nice - some great titles in there. Some on my list, too. God of War, in particular. Bloodborne too, although I’d imagine it would be quite difficult! I found Astro’s Playroom quite charming, actually. Such a fun little experience!

I like to say I am, but I've slowed down a lot over the past couple years. I've never been one that will play anything just to get a plat. I buy games I actually want to play and plat them. I've got 85 plats. Over the last year, I've only gotten 3. God of War Ragnarok, Horizon Forbidden West, and Hogwarts Legacy. I've spent way too much time playing Destiny 2. Stops me from playing other games.

Tammy Abraham definitely isn't a trophy hunter: https://psnprofiles.com/tammyabraham1

That list of games is so boring. Mostly just FIFA and CoD. I don't know how people do it.

I would say I used to be. Currently on 90 plats. Over the past 2-3 years my time for gaming has grew shorter so I decided to concentrate more on playing to enjoy the games. By this I mean not spending hours grinding for a trophy.

Spidey 2 is the first game I've pre-ordered since the Mass Effect Trilogy.

Bollocks to trophy hunting, too much shite in games just to extend them, I CBA collecting 300 pieces of golden dog turd for a trophy, it's boring.

the best thing about it, is that you dont have to

I on the other hand would prefer 600 pieces of golden dog turd

you have more than me, but not by much. But still makes me feel better about myself

But apart froma handful of TellTale games plats I have pretty much zero cheap ones.

EDIT: i do have one cheap one. Ghost of Tsushima auto-popped when I downloaded Ps5 version

Apparently Callisto Protocol and another simulator game will be the Ps plus essential titles. Urgh.

Can anyone recommend somewhere that will repair stick drift and not charge what is basically the price of a new controller?

I have two that have it ridiculously bad and my most recent one (bought in April) has started showing slight drift too.

Didn't it come out around the same time as a similar game and it got a worse hammering due to that?
Shortly before dead space. I think it was just disappointing irrespective of that.
It kind of seems the sweet spot for these subs to me. Its not god of war that most people will have played at this point but is probably still pretty enjoyable and a good opportunity to check out a game a lot will have skipped.

Is this console finally being fully utilised or is it still throttled due to cross console with the 4?

Has anyone streamed games on a portable system before? How is it? Sony's recommendation for the Playstation Portal seem to be at least 15mbps. My home wifi is about 1Gbps, but I'm assuming thats if you're right by the router. If I'm in the basement or bedroom (different levels from the router), will it ever get choppy? Or is it pretty seamless and lag free? If its lag free I may opt to buy more multi platform games like FIFA on PS5 rather than Switch (I barely play the PS5 on the tv anymore, mainly just PSVR2)
