Gaming PlayStation 5

3rd play though of Dead Space complete and another platinum to go with Elden Ring, Ragnarok and Astro.

Such a good game. Might even go again at some point with the pew pew pew pew. Think I deserve it.

Can't remember the last full price game I bought. Deliberating whether or not Dead Space is worth it.

Whenever a new game comes out I add it to the wishlist, and then buy it when I get the notification to say it's on sale. That way I'm always working through a backlog of AAA titles. I don't mind not playing it on release.

I really enjoyed FC5. The story was pretty interesting. Especially Faith Seed's parts. The music is also fantastic. I preferred it bit more than 3 and far more than 4. I haven't played 6 yet.

Yeah gonna have to fully agree on this one. It actually made me not bother with 6 but given these opinions I might have to give it a go.

3 was my first Far Cry and I think it ruined the subsequent ones for me.

Seriously considering selling my PS5. Its just a glorified Blu-Ray player at this point.

Started Resident Evil Village last night and suffering from the worst motion sickness I've ever experienced playing a game. Anyone else get this? Not even playing in VR, just standard.

Just starting The Witcher 3 next-gen upgrade. First time I've played the game and really looking forward to it.

Really giving it a chance after enjoying the TV series and even just 2 hours in I can see the worldbuilding and depth is all there.

Tchia getting good review scores. I love me some exploration so this one should be fun.

I've still not played any of these. Worth it or a bit dated now?
That has the two most recent games on so won't really be dated. The first three games are already on the service in Uncharted The Nathan Drake Collection - those show their age but playing through them was enjoyable for me. I played them "properly" three years ago.

First one is very dated and a bit rough around the edges. I found it reasonably enjoyable despite that, so it was doing something right. Go in with the expectation of it being a retro game and its fine.
Second one is much easier to enjoy, much tighter gun fights. Just a good game really. Becomes pretty easy to understand why the series is so highly rated. Graphics aren't great by todays standards obviously. Theres a few criticisms with an army of soldiers constantly funneling in from the next room and a few other parts that stick out a bit but its still worth a play.
Played about half an hour of the 3rd game. Felt pretty modern. Wanted to take a bit of a break after the first two though.

Three very different games IMO.

1 is the most dated but strangely feels like the most fun to me to play as it doesn't take itself seriously whatsoever. It's almost kitsch at times.
2 is the most cinematic and I loved this approach when it first came out but found the story less remarkable when I tried to replay it a few years ago.
3 is the most flawed insofar as it has some of the best set-pieces in the entire series but the story leaves a bit to be desired; people seemed to think this on release too from what I remember.

I'd wager that 4 and Lost Legacy are still the best games in the series, with the former refining the best parts of the series (set pieces; story; etc) while the latter took an interesting turn with new characters.

Uncharted is a big guilty pleasure of mine and I'd happily buy a PS5 to play the 5th mainline one should it ever come out.

I downloaded the demo and that opening area made me really nauseated right away. But I also struggled with cotm, kayak and GT7 initially

I turned a few things off in the settings and felt ok last night. I actually think it might have been a stomach bug or something else actually now

Looks like a PS5 pro is coming. I didn't see that happening, at all. We're still not out of cross gen.

Not that one but I tried VII and it was the worst game I've ever played for motion sickness. Completely unplayable. I took it back to CEX the next day to take advantage of their 24 hour returns policy.

These ITK rumours are always stupid and should always be treated with

Of course they are working on the next version, they always are. Of course there will be an upgrade, the pro was so successful that they'd be stupid not to do it again. It won't be this year or even next (unless late on) at most, which gives the PS5 a 4-5 year lifespan? I'd suggest it's not worth worrying about.

And yes, the biggest issue has been cross gen. It's why we still don't see these new consoles as much of a leap forward, well that and the lack of games we are getting (obviously Covid has played a big part in that, but also the rise of the remakes and reactions to poor launch quality of major games all play a part).

I normally would not pay them much attention but the leaker of this is normally spot on when it comes to sony.

The interesting thing will be to see if MS also have a pro model. I'm betting no.

I suppose my point is it's a slam dunk. It's easy to make these claims and eventually be right. Hardware development is always an ongoing thing with all the manufacturers, it's not a tough guess. Interesting the "leaks" don't give a more specific timeframe though, which means developers haven't even been given early dev kits/sdks. Which means it's still at least 18months-2 years away.

It's the ones who keep banging on about the "Switch Pro" that make me laugh though

Well they have had less success than Sony in terms of the "pro" models. They most likely will do one though, as they need the GP to continue to do well, and believe it or not, the relative power of the machine is still a big point to fanboys. And let's face it, since these "consoles" are less like specific hardware and more like laptops than ever, then it's not particularly hard for them to release an upgrade these days. You don't need to use anywhere near the amount of resources in either hardware development or the software kits for these half steps.

I struggled with motion sickness on it too. Resident Evil 7 was the same.

Anyone tried the trial of Anno 1800?
I’ve really enjoyed it but will buy it on PC - much cheaper at £12

Question for those who played them, do you consider Bloodborne or Elden Ring the better title, taking into account when they were launched etc?

Bloodborne is the better game, souls games are better suited to the tight dungeon like maps it allows them to fulfil their exceptional level design, Elden ring for all its great stuff the map was bland and the best parts were the dungeons/castles made like the older games.

Combat wise i prefer bloodbornes as i've always been more of an aggressive play style in games and you are rewarded massively for aggressive fighting in this game, defence isn't really an option
