So I should keep at it and I will eventually get a weapon where the bonus damage is high? So far i only have the pistol. Haven't seen any other weapon anywhere :(
Yep, and be weary of dropping a solid weapon for something that does way less damage, or is a weapon type you don't like to use. The shiny new weapon you want to pick up might have a higher level, it might have an interesting looking trait.... It might also feck your run up spectacularly.

Any opinions on when to upgrade your weapon? Swapped a carbine for a pistol or shotgun a couple levels higher a few times and that felt like a bad choice.
The Carbine is great in the beginning since it's easy to use and decent without traits. Wouldnt ever swap ot for a pistol. The shotgun is pretty good, but only with narrow maw or slugshot to increase it's range.

Stuff like the Rotgland Lobber or Dreadbound become amazing with certain traits, but are hard to use and are better suited for when you can effortlessly avoid damage.

Returnal is amazing by the way. Best next gen game for me and 1 of only 2 platinums Ive bothered getting.

The difficulty seems to have topped out a bit and im enjoying it a bit more. I'll probably spend half the night dieing miserably and hating the game again but got to bio 3 earlier today and it seemed pretty ok really.

Oh yeah, it's definitely also a big fat arsehole of a game where you sometimes have a great run, but somehow just encounter a shite room and die near instantly and are left wondering what the feck happened.

So out of all the hundreds of games I now have at my disposal, all the modern games I still haven't played, the last few days I've found myself playing Street Fighter 2 The World Warrior which was given away for free last week. Still great, although Street Fighter 2 Turbo is better. But I'm having a great time and I forgot how difficult Bison is. Absolute mad lad.

I'm now thinking of buying the Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection. Does anyone have it?

Who was it saying they hated GoT? Great game so far!

I didn't hate it but I felt it flattered to deceive in the end which was a big disappointment for me personally considering the potential it had. Don't know how far you are into it but I never finished it and ended up trading it in. Think I got up to about midway through Act III and then decided to give it a break and never ended up going back to it as there was just no urge to play it again. There are some elements that I felt were very good such as the combat/swordplay is absolutely fantastic. Also visually it’s a very beautiful looking game but other than that, I just found it very tedious and boring in the end. The missions both story and side were very predictable & repetitive I felt. Overall it just felt very meh.

For someone who bangs on that they don't like playing B & C tier games you've played a lot of mediocre shit (especially on VR) and not much of the actual good stuff PS has to offer (TLOU2, GOW)

How far in are you? It had one of the best starts I've played, and whilst I still land on it being a very good game, I do think it overstayed it's welcome and like a lot of so called 'GOAT' games from the last 10 years, not actually that fun all the way through.

I had most of the titles from one source or another so skipped it. Friend bought it though and its very good. You have to unlock a lot of the stuff so some of it isn't available off the bat but think it was quite enjoyable to unlock. Think it was just complete the game in arcade mode kind of thing to unlock the 3rd version of Street Fighter 3.

I'm playing guardians of the galaxy at the moment. Its fun, very little notable or particularly strong about it just remains consistently solid. The characters and writing are hard not to like. Its a strong feel good, relaxing game to break up the Returnals or Demons Souls or Hollow Knights. Definitely worth a play.

What are you on about mate? I'm on act 2 and enjoying the story, visuals and gameplay.
We'll see if I keep that feeling for the duration, this would look sublime in VR by the way.

Ok, cool.

I've never played the Alpha series so that's the thing that's really tempting me to buy it at the moment.

What did you think of the Story?

I didn’t finish the story so can only comment on how far I got up to which was just the beginning of Act III. For me, it was just very slow and the story didn’t really draw me in that you really want to experience how it progresses/ends. That’s what disappointed me the most as the other aspects of the game like the visuals and swordplay/combat were top notch and very satisfying/realistic. I took a break from it and thought I’d go back and finish it eventually but just never had the urge to do so as I just found it very repetitive and not much of a variety in both the main & side quests - investigate an area, follow footprints, combat scenario, talk with someone and end up following them and doing the above once more, rinse, repeat.

Completely agree. GoT is a repetitive game. The tasks on all three acts are of similar nature. The world is way too sparse and dry - I feel people only like it because it's about Samurais/Japan and that's deemed cool.

Probably mentioned 1000 times here already, if you want a game with a killer story, play Yakuza 0. I think it's in my top 5 games of all time literally because of that story.

Fair enough, I'm enjoying the story and characters so that probably explains a lot. I watch a lot of Asian cinema though and it is often meandering and not action filled (although to be fair this game has plenty action).

I didn't hate it but, aside from the visuals and combat mechanics, found it very bland. Although the locations within the open world are nice, the open world in itself is one of the dullest O/W game worlds in a while. A nicely polished but overall bland gaming experience. Tried going back to it a few times but interest wanes almost immediately.

Is PS5 shortage likely to last until Q2 2023? My PS+ subscription runs until April, I am planning on finishing some of the exclusives and then getting rid of the console as I don’t really see the need to have two big ones in my room. Currently I would be able to get more for the console than I bought it for, wondering how likely is that to still be the case in 2023.

Yep this echos my thoughts. I said ages ago despite all its issues I enjoyed Cyberpunk far far more than I ever did Ghost of Tsushima.

I think it must be that you love Asian cinema and movies. It’s a very aesthetic game in that way. Partly why I love Red Dead, massive fan of Western movies/shows.
100%!

Anyone who likes this sort of stuff or thinks they might, has got to play this. It's incredibly atmospheric, polished, and fun. Gorgeous to look at too.

For my fellow smokers, it's a good game to play half baked ;)

Is the combat not incredibly fast and intense baked? Feel like id have to play on easy haha.

Maybe that's where I'm going wrong :)

I thought it would be a 'heart banging, temples pulsing, not blinking, not-breathe-for-5-minutes, cramp inducing grip on the controller type affair if you were baked?
I did say half baked ;)

Returnals difficulty is so damn weird. Beat the fifth and sixth biome in the same run on the first try (i guess i technically saw about 2 rooms into the 5th biome before). Felt like the easiest levels in the game, loads of room to move, very few enemies. Hell, most of the 6th biome enemies kill themselves, you dont even need to shoot them.

With it being 4 months off it'd be a bit weird to delay from here. That kind of seems like bug fix and polish territory where significant delays would be pretty rare.

I'd be surprised if it's delayed from here, they wouldn't have announced this date so close to release if they weren't confident. Sony don't NEED this to come out for holiday 2022 given the console is sold out everywhere anyways.
