Gaming PlayStation 5

Have been playing Horizon Zero Dawn the last couple of months, and found it really fun at first, but now I'm playing past getting to Meridian, I think I'll take a few months break from it, as it just feels like a bit of a chore to play right now.

So far since getting my PS5, I have completed Spiderman, R & C, and most recently, God of War and TLOU, so I'm not sure if it's just because I've come from some of the best games ever made, but I find the story okay, but the gameplay gets a bit repetitive, as you're almost always the underdog against most machines and have to just run away, and the fact you can't take over the majority of machines etc.

I think with my limited time to play, I have found that I much prefer linear, story focused games, than these open world games, where you need to explore to do certain things.

Might move onto Uncharted 1 or Death Stranding for a bit of a cleanse.

Uncharted would definitely be fine, but even though I haven't played it, I know Death Stranding is the exact opposite to what you prefer.

I realised that shortly after posting, wasn't thinking properly about the game, just know it was in my backlog and highly rated

Also considering Control as an alternative to Uncharted. Is Days Gone linear or open world?

Control would be a much better shout for you.

Days Gone is open world too and a pretty big and bloated game.

Control is a great game. A great sense of exploration and mystery. It also runs really well on the PS5 in 60fps. I really didn't like Days Gone much at all. And if you got burnt out on Horizon for being repetitive, then Days Gone is the opposite of what you want, IMO.

Nice one, heard some good things about it, and I'll be going in quite blind.

I have a complicated relationship with Uncharted. I have the collection and plan to play through all + 4, but I've played the first few hours of the first game on the PS3 and PSNow about 3 times in the last few years, so it's a bit tedious going through all of that again. Might wait a bit longer to forget about it!

I think my issue with Horizon, is the fact that it can take a while to travel between points (I know you can get the unlimited fast travel, but you still have to spend time hunting etc. to get the items to trade for it), and having to run away from everything you see.

What I really loved about God of War and TLOU, is that even though they are extremely story focused, it's really easy to jump in and out of, for only 20-30 minute spurts if you feel like. So something similar to that would be great.

Well, I would still very much recommend Control. Not sure if it would fit the criteria of playing for 20-30 minutes then dropping out as you can't just save at any time. You have to interact with a control point in the game. Shouldn't be an issue though.

Not sure if you're a fan of first-person shooters, but Titanfall 2 is incredible. The single-player campaign is excellent, and it autosaves quite often so you can sort of jump in and out.

Batman Arkham games are also great, and I think Arkham Knight is on the PS Plus Collection.

In stock on Argos app, but you put it in your basket and it says not available in any of the local manchester stores. Also says not available for delivery. God, I hate how Argos works.

Got one in stock locally, added to basket. Auto fill address. Then told the town I live in doesn't exist apparently. Fixed it, then sent to the website to pay, and obviously sold out. Fecking Argos!

Managed to get another one by putting in the name of a town that exists

Ha, the wankers auto entered the name of the town I live in, which is also where it told me the store was to pick it up from. But apparently it also doesn't exist. Such a shitty business with their silly little pens and barely functional website.

It’s such a frustrating web store. I was trying to buy an RTX 3070 for a long while and Argos would have it in stock but not delivering or available to pick up from any local store just about every day.

I’m convinced they do it because they know it drives traffic to their store from various stock checker and discord channels in the hope people buy something else.

Perhaps. It's like "Yeah, we've got that... But we're not going to tell you where and we won't deliver it to you either."

I've got a reservation code for a PS5 off Currys. I've already got one so happy to PM this to someone who wants it.

Stayed up last night trying to get one from Argos, thought I had one and tried to order it and then it disappeared from the basket and it went back to being unavailable.

I hope I don't have to wait much longer.

Sony have already said there’ll be supply issues well into 2022.

I had three weeks of this back in Feb. Was starting to effect my job tbh:lol: I'd be on a call and have loads of tabs opened up. Only thing to do is get the Hotstock App, get the premium subscription (its rubbish otherwise) and wait for a few weeks. Not ideal that Argos do their stock runs at ungodly hours too.

When good levels of supplies eventually become available I want a second PS5. I'll get a digital one for my office upstairs and move the disk one downstairs. I've probably used the drive 3 times since launch and that was to be able to try out No Man's Sky PS5 version for a couple of days.

I'll refrain from trying to get one just yet though as I wouldn't want to deprive someone of getting their first one

At this point you are just depriving a scalper of making money.

Such a shame :D

I managed to get 2 PS5s at launch myself due to having a backup order that also went through, but I sold the second one, unopened, to a friend of mine for exactly what I paid for it. The idea of profiteering from that situaiton at the expense of another fills me with revulsion.

I have a work colleague whose 13 year old son has saved the money up to buy a PS5 but still hasn't been able to get hold of one despite trying since launch. I'd love to be able to help him get one too as she's not the type to be up on how to use technology to help her get alerts etc.

Sony's First Party has 25 titles in development for PS5, almost half of which are new IPs

Will dip in again when the battery life is improved its absolutely shocking on any game that uses the dualsense to the maximum get maybe 4-6 hours from full charge.
Is 4-6 hours not a perfectly healthy time to have a break?
