Gaming PlayStation 5

Agreed and for me it’s also the argument about Software vs Hardware with Sony having made just straight up mode reliable consoles over the years. I have always been lucky (touch wood) that I bought a single ps3 (which still works) and a single PS4. Both have had a tonne of playtime and still work perfectly which I know for a fact never happened with my friends Xbox’s. Red ring of death seemed to kill every single 360.
Least Xbox One did not sound like a jet engine ;)

Let's be honest, I don't think there will be a big difference between the two consoles. I bet the difference in 3rd party games will be minimal.

If you own a semi decent PC I cant understand why you'd ever consider an Xbox now seeing as all their exclusives are available through game pass on PC.

Yea I'm thinking of going that way, don't know how much is going to cost as I need to upgrade pretty much everything on my PC bar SSD and peripherals. Also needs to be VR ready.

Hard to see myself ever switching over Xbox. I've always found their originals to be extremely boring. Nintendo seem to have good original franchises but they'd only ever be a second console option should I ever go for one again. So, as things stand, I'll undoubtedly be going for PlayStation again.

Same for me to be honest. I genuinely don’t care about all these minor differences in hardware, and I’ve always had good experiences with PlayStation, and they’ve always had the games I wanted, and there’s never really been any exclusives on the XBOX that I want. Don’t regret getting a switch either though:D

I’d be annoyed if they charge for Bloodborne again. It should be a free upgrade for people who have bought it.

Remasters for PS4 or Xbox one games should not be a thing. They should be upgraded free. EA the cnuts were trying to get people to pay double by using their so called BC programme.

I could understand if a remaster for PS3 or 360 game and they charged it. So if they announced Demons Soul then yes obviously they should charge for that.

A Bloodborne remaster would do nothing for me. I've played the thing to death. One of the 4/5 games I've got the platinum for.

And if the Dark Souls remaster is anything to go by it would be a barebones job. The only thing it needs is 60FPS because graphically it's still great.

Housemarque (creator of Resogun) making an AAA non-arcadey game for PS5. I'm guessing it'll be one of the games in Thursday's presentation.

Housemarque
The very talented Finnish studio has always had a great relationship with Sony, and this continues into the new decade. Stormdivers, the studio's experimental battle royale game, was put on hold earlier this year to focus on the "biggest and most ambitious" game they've ever made with "amazing support from our yet-to-be-announced partner". I'll let you guess who that partner is... That's right, it's Sony. And one of the reasons why Stormdivers had to be left behind? Because Housemarque hopes to have the non-arcady game ready for the PlayStation 5 launch and making an "all-time first" for the studio requires all hands on deck. That effort, and the fact that Resogun was one of the best games on the PS4 at launch, should earn them a place at one of this summer's State of Play streams.

XBOX is for people who don't understand computers and are perhaps intimidated about getting a PC. There is no other reason to get one. I hate the XBOX because it has single handedly slowed down the development of PC tech - graphics cards, CPU's, etc.

I will always associate Xbox with frat boy, CoD players. Microsoft even leant into those things during the 360 era.

Erm maybe now but early XBox was maybe a lil more diverse. XBox360 was such a good console with so many different games.

It was a diverse console yes but they really did spend the majority of its lifecycle promoting themselves as THE console to play CoD.

Well now PlayStation is

But seriously, their game diversity seems to have dropped off a cliff (looking at it from the perspective of somebody that skipped XB1). I wonder how long it's going to take for them to fix that?

Anyway back on topic, I cannot wait for this shiiiit!

I'm always happy to buy another console if it has loads of games I want to play like I did with the Switch but there's absolutely nothing about the Xbox that appeals to me.

Me neither. My friend who works for Sony has been incredibly tight lipped as well so I have no idea what to expect.

Those dead space rumours

(which I don't believe obviously... honest)

Damo that's going to go over peoples heads (unless that guy is well known in which case I'll stfu). It's basically what I was alluding to in my last post.

It's not going to be Dead Space is it? :(

Ah, okay. To be honest I didn't know who he was either until I looked at his wikipedia page before posting. Will update post.

Placeholders going up suggests there'll be a 2TB model (guessing 1.6TB)

To reduce the meltdowns, they are a placeholder price. Placeholder for PS4 was $1,000

Amazon are also giving clues about games too. So who knows there might be a price reveal tomorrow.

Wait PS5 is going to be 825GB or 2TB? I realise their drive is the star of the show and likely to be expensive but that is going to fill up seriously quickly and I’m guessing any expansion drives are going to be via USB and not take advantage of bus speeds the internal drive has access to?

it's highly likely they'll use USB-C instead of USB-A this time which allows for much faster speeds, so external SSD's could be plugged in if people want to. I wouldn't be surprised if Sony release their own ones and slap a big price tag on 'em.

Be interesting for sure, 825gb really isn't enough assuming games are 100gb+. They'll need to find some workaround.
