Are you going to play games off the external? Or just store them and move them over? I would recommend storing and moving, so you benefit from the faster loading times.

But wish they had SSD expansion like Xbox at launch.

I'll probably just play games off the external to save the messing around, and then when Sony announce their compatible SSD's I'll pick up one of those too.

Usually pretty good for PC parts, I built a whole PC a few years ago and saved several hundred quid. There will probably be some sort of deal on a hard drive, hard to be sure, might only be £10 or £15 off.

You can put the PS4 games on it and transfer over to PS5, but you can’t store ps5 games on the HDD hard drive because it slows down the SSD or speed or whatever. Bloody stupid. Need to get a SSD hard drive.
 
Thanks to those that have replied, is this a usual thing for a console release? I've had PlayStations in the past (ps1 and 2) but I got them a while after release so not experienced the demand or is it a covid thing?
Looks like I'll just be giving him the money for when he can get it, is there an official UK release date so I can start checking stock from then?

The 19th is the release date next Thursday.

The pre orders went live a couple of months ago and sold out in minutes at most places, the demand is huge. COVID and Christmas don’t help either.

The console will probably sell for double on Ebay so the scalpers are going crazy
 
In all the pictures I've seen the console is upright. Have Sony said anything about it needing to be upright or can I lie it flat? I may need to take a shelf out if it needs to be standing...

It can be flat, the stand is detachable and useable either upright or horizontal

Wow at how quick it was, its annoying that people are allowed to bulk buy then tout them like concert tickets, not that I go to concerts, they should have limited the pre orders to 1 per customer. Although you'd be thinking do I stick it on ebay if they're going for that price then buy one again down the line when there are more games...
 
Anyone know a good place to maybe get a cheap 1 or 2tb SSD hard drive. Since the HDD ones will be pointless apparently.

You cant upgrade it yet. Sony will release a list of SSD's that work with the PS5, currently the majority of them are not fast enough.
 
Though if you do have an external SSD, games would probably run a lot better
 
I was expecting video reviews for the other games that aren't Spiderman to be out by now but I'm yet to see any on YouTube.

Game Informer's review of Demon's Souls has got me well hyped to play it.

My extra PS5 controller is being shipped today apparently. Actually can't wait to try it out on some PC gaming firstly :drool:

Have received all my accessories and all but one of the launch day games I ordered.

Can't wait!
 
Still can’t decide between Spider-Man or Assassins creed. Edging towards Spider-Man but is it really worth the money being 8 or so hours long is the question i keep asking myself.
 
Had a update txt from Argos saying it’s deffo on the way on the 19th!
 
Just came in!! Woke up and looked outside and it was sitting in front of my door, thankfully nobody stole it. Hate when they just leave it outside. Didn't get charged until an hour later basically too, and never received any email update but its all good now!

Get AC and play it til Christmas, then over Christmas get spider man when it goes on sale to a better price for that length.

Congrats man, great sight to wake up to :) enjoy the hell out of it.

My controller actually just arrived , my God it feels wonderful in the hand. Reminds me if the 360 controller back in the day.
