Gaming PlayStation 5

Think we are waiting on more clarification - PS4 saves for Spiderman won't carry across to the PS5 remaster, but we haven't heard about any others yet.

I agree @Massive Spanner, they seem to be shooting themselves in the foot with a few things.

Okay but I'm not talking about remastered Ps5 versions of PS4 games.

I own digital bloodborne already. If I download this to PS5 so it is the PS4 game running with backwards compatibility, then I would like to think my PS4 save file will work on PS5. Anything less would be a huge problem

Yeah I'd imagine you will be able to as it's running BC and not a Remaster, but I don't want to make false promises Gary.

It's very disappointing and doesn't bode well for other Sony games. I can't believe what a mess they're making of this.

Registered anyway just in case. Thanks!

I'm not even sure it matters what store you buy a ps5 from as long as you get one. The argos live chat told me that the systems are being shipped directly to the customer by their supplier (presumably Sony or whatever distributor Sony use in the UK), which us why in store collection wasn't an option.

Thought that was interesting, but the live chat agent could have been talking shite.

Total bullshit.

isn't Miles Morales basically just a fecking 8 hour DLC? The price is mental!

Feck Sony.

Isn't Miles Morales more like a proper old school expansion using the same engine and gameplay than a DLC? Personally id like to see a lot more of that for games I enjoy. Id rather have more good story and fun gameplay with the same engine and graphics as the previous game than wait 4 years to have the same story with upgraded water effects.

What is MAG? Am I being dim?
It came out early on the PS3. A massive FPS with huge maps. 250 v 250 against each other. Online wasn’t as popular as it is now. Now would be the perfect time for something like that. It would be fun as hell.

Oh ok, I must have missed that. I remember Warhawk being fun on early PS3

Well expansion or DLC, whatever, pricing it as a full price game on its own and making you pay extra for the regular game is poor form.

I don't get the moaning about the Miles Morales game. Why the feck would you automatically get a remaster of the original with it? Where has that expectation even come from suddenly?

If you've not played the first game then the ultimate one is a good deal. If you don't think MM is big enough at that price don't buy it?

Yeah I can understand buying games now expecting a free upgrade, but Spiderman was released 2 years ago so seems a bit odd to me.

That Miles Morales game being full price and then only including the remastered original on the even more expensive version is bollox and really poor form from Sony.

Tbh, they've been right cnuts on this generation so far. Lack of backward compatibility with PS4 controllers, not giving free upgrades to ps4 games etc. - Microsoft have handled themselves far better. Reminds me of their arrogance with the PS3 coming off of the PS2.

To be honest, this is my reasoning for wanting an Xbox at the beginning of this gen. I find gaming companies tend to get consumer-unfriendly when they have a successful generation, making them a little worse next time round.

PS2 > PS3
Xbox 360 > Xbox One
Wii > Wii U
SNES > N64
DS > 3DS
Mega Drive > Saturn
PSP > PS Vita

On the flip side:

PS3 > PS4
Wii U > Switch
Saturn > Dreamcast (flopped but was amazing)
N64 > Wii

Edit - Turns out that this isn't the console warring thread. PS5 will be great for a number of reasons. Go Sony!

You can’t get the regular game standalone. You need to pay £70 to get it.

People who get the PS4 version of Miles will get upgraded for free when they decide to on the PS5. People who bought the PS4 version of the regular game do not get upgraded.

Yeah, let’s lap this behaviour up. Put more old games that you paid for behind ultimate editions.

When your main rival is providing enhanced editions free of charge (providing you own the current-gen version of course), it's not a good look if you can't do the same for your own biggest in-house titles.

They are charging full price for what is essentially just an expansion to the main game. A shorter, less expensive game to make using the exact same engine, that took them far less time to make. Technically it's even more expensive than the PS4 Spiderman was on launch! That's a dick move.

They're not giving a free upgrade to people who already have Spidey on the PS4, instead you have to pay the €20 on top of the already full priced expansion to get it. That's a dick move.

When 3rd party companies are offering free upgrades for their PS4 versions and Sony themselves aren't, then you know.. it's a fecking dick move! A total money grab.

But the PS4 version of Spiderman will play on the PS5 right?

There's nothing wrong with shitting on Sony in here for some of their decisions, especially when lately, around the PS5, they've been awful.

You're arguing that the game will be too similar to Spiderman and not a full game. If true and we don't really know yet then yeah i can certainly understand not buying it.

I don't see how the issue of it being too similar is resolved by demanding a remaster of the original is bolted on though. That doesn't make sense.

Coming back to this is the expectation now that every game we've bought should have a new remaster for free? And not just be playable on next gen consoles?

Well, we do know.

I'm not demanding it to be bolted on. I believe
A) it shouldn't have been charged as a full price game
B) if you have the PS4 version you should get the free upgrade and not have to buy it on top of a full priced expansion.

It's a money grab. Feck Sony.

It's not even a actually a full fecking remaster. And it's tacked on to something that isn't a full game being priced as such.

How many times can the point be missed?
