Gaming PlayStation 4 (Console)

I'm at work at the mo, so am restricted on what I can view, but do you know how much it'll cost me to get back up-to-date, bud?
No idea to be honest, but I'm guessing there'll be some kind of bundle price for all expansions. I'm assuming that you'll need to have ttk to be able to get roi, so if ttk is on sale at some point you should get on it. Tons of fun content and I'd happily take you through the raid if you want.

Last I played was TTK, didn't even get that completed... We'll both have some catching up to do...

The update is £25 on PSN. I'm tempted, but then the new one is out in about 7 weeks. That will no doubt be another £30, or so. Hmm. I'll think about it.

Just re-downloading ESO now. 40GB left. 97 minutes. PSN servers being PSN servers, I'm only pulling ~7MB/s on a 152Mb pipe. Fecking ridiculous.

You going to be on later?

@Damien

Oh, ok. I didn't know that. @Anustart89 I edited your quote in up there ^ as well.

Yeah, I saw that and wondered what had happened. That place is crazy. It's been a slow few days at work and I've been in there way more than I should have.

25 is definitely too much. Wait for a sale and you'll get it for half of that.

This is what it says on the official Rise of Iron website

"Requires Destiny game and The Taken King (includes Expansions I & II). Sold separately."

Not sure what that means in terms of whether TTK will be heavily discounted or if it'll be some kind of Base game + Expansions I, II + TTK bundle for £40 on top of the RoI price. But since they're going to force TTK upon you, might be an idea to get it if it doesn't sting too much in your wallet, just to get to play some of the content, as I assume nobody's going to be running the TTK raid after RoI comes out.

I had some issues with my digital upgrade of the taken king last year whereby I got the expansion, and played the shit out of it, but was never actually charged for it. Problem was, when I went to pre-order the rise of iron, PSN said I needed to buy taken king first.

I managed to get myself the disc version with the full game, plus all three expansions for £22.95 about a month ago on amazon. The dlc wasn't on the disc it was just the codes.

Rise of Iron is £25 on PSN as a pre-order.

Just grabbed TTK. I almost plunged for it at £25 last night, until you said to wait for a sale, @neelu91 . You saved me a tenner. Cheers.

@afrocentricity @Damien - Gonna fire up ESO shortly. I logged in last night and all my skills have been reset and I have around 20 attribute points to spend. I have no idea how I had any of my builds, so I'm going to have to figure that out before I do anything.
Ok mate

Anyone know the cheapest place to get PS Plus subscription (one year)
I know this won't help you, but the way I'm doing it is, whenever ebay email me with a £10 voucher to use if I spend £30, I immediately buy PS Plus or PSN Credit.

But right now I dont have any ebay vouchers.

The way I get ebay vouchers is, I have multiple accounts, and occasionally buy and sell on all of them. Then you wait!

Anyone excited about ABZU? a new game from some of the guys behind Journey. It comes out August 2nd for £15.99 (PS+ £12.99) it looks fecking great.

• ABZÛ is the first game from Giant Squid, a new studio formed by Matt Nava, formerly from thatgamecompany. He is best known for his work on the game Journey, which he served as the Art Director for the project; responsible for both the look and feel of the game as well as helping to shape the main narrative. He now fills the role of the Creative Director on ABZÛ. This new game will have a similar feel to Journey, but in an entirely new setting and with a new, exciting and emotionally-driven narrative filled with many secrets to discover as you venture deep down to the very depths of the ocean.

• In this game, you play as "The Diver", an enigmatic female character who is seeking the truth behind what happened to her civilization and even to find herself and her own purpose along the way. Similar to "The Traveler" in Journey, The Diver will make many discoveries throughout the course of her adventure. You will piece together clues and delve deeper into the many secrets and mysteries the ocean has to hide.

Austin Wintory is the composer. If you've ever played Journey, then you already know how amazingly talented this gentleman is. The score he is composing for ABZÛ is helping the developers to shape the game as they create it - side-by-side with him as he scores it. He is writing the music specifically for the game - be it subtle moments, or large scale, epic moments - either way, the soundtrack will perfectly accompany the on-screen events with impeccable timing and pairing. The score was recorded at the Air Studios [founded in London circa 1965 by Beatles producer Sir George Martin and his partner, John Burgess] in Lyndhurst, London and features an impressive seven harp ensemble, as well as a full choir; which is sure to make this a truly legendary soundtrack.

• The game features hundreds of different species of marine life, all of which can be interacted with. The larger creatures can actually be ridden and controlled. The game features a living ecosystem, replete with a predator/prey system and a food chain, where larger creatures will eat smaller creatures and even attack other large creatures. Tens-of-thousands of creatures, fish, etc. can be displayed on-screen at a time, due to a procedural mathematical algorithm developed in-house. This has been demonstrated to awe-inducing effect by a shoal of fish forming a bait ball, with the player entering the center of it and even riding a shark into it while the shark feeds on the fish.

• There will be prehistoric/extinct creatures in the game. Matt Nava has stated that he is an avid Paleontology junkie and is excited to include these types of entities in the game. He elaborates that players will encounter some "secret" creatures deep in the depths of the ocean in ABZÛ. He also commented to Emma Schaefer from EGM at the end of their interview, that "There are some crazy things that we’re not showing you."

• You have full control over The Diver in ABZÛ. You can maneuver in 360° and in full 3-dimensions. You can swim, paddle, boost, launch out of the water, flip, tumble, loop in all directions and more.

• There will be moments of tension and fear for the player. As you venture deeper into the abyss, your journey to the very bottom of the sea will have it's twists and turns. Dangers await the player and even though you cannot die, you will be tested and there are some frightening moments induced by both the dark, foreboding surroundings - as well as by what lurks down in the depths waiting for you.

• There are meditation statues littered around the environments. These are shark statues that allow you to enter a "meditation mode", which when initiated, turns the game into a virtual aquarium. You can cycle between the many different denizens of the deep and it will even display the type of creature it is as you watch it live it's life under the waves. With hundreds of different types of creatures in this game [All of them are actual species of fish, and other assorted marine life], there will always be something to see, do and admire in ABZÛ.

• There are several different types of sharks in ABZÛ. Among them, there is a particular Great White Shark that has a special relationship with The Diver. What this bond actually is remains to be seen, but Matt Nava is quick to point out that sharks have a bad reputation in both real life as well as in the entertainment medium. The goal here, is to show that sharks aren't always the menacing, evil creatures we think they are and to show them in a new light.

Anyone else playing NBA2K16 off the free download? Every time I create a player, he looks the same. Am I missing something?

He has short red hair, a long black beard, and everyone refers to him as freak- even the announcers. Oh, and he's somewhat fair skinned even though all his relatives are black.

You change the appearance in the "MyPlayer" section of the settings from the main menu.

You are stuck with the name because of the Story mode in the Career.

Family because, same reasons.

You don't like the name Frequency Vibrations??? The whole career story mode sucks ass

Played about an hour & 30 mins of ABZU last night, I think this one will be even better than Journey from what I've experienced so far. Just a lovely chilled beautiful game that's a joy to play. Here's my first 20 minutes or so, I do quite a bit of faffing about here, though I think this game was made for faffing. You just want to soak everything in and not rush through. If you liked Flower & especially Journey get on this.

There's rumours it's October/November this year so sit tight, I'd expect an announcement at one of the next big gaming conventions.

Anyone recommend me some games for the PS4? Considering, Bloodborne, Sniper Elite III as they're in the sale on the store, but could probably pick them up cheaper from ebay tbh, Phantom Pain I haven't played yet either, and I still can't decide whether to pick up Hitman.

Been out the loop with games recently so don't even know what else is about. Suggestions?

Not heard of Considering, what's it about?

Bloodborne is one of the best games I have ever played. The combat and atmosphere are amazing. You played any of the Dark Souls games?

Nope, not played any Dark Souls game before, heard the comparisons, so guess the new Dark Souls (III?) should be good too?

Aye it's brilliant. Those two would keep you busy for ages.

Uncharted 4 is great as well. Not as stressful as those other two can be at times and the graphics are something else.

@One Night Only

I'll second what Stringer says, the Soulsborne series is a triumph, if it's your jam. Don't get discouraged, the hardness of the game is a bit overstated. It just demands your attention and that you take an active role in learning the game mechanics.

Also, if you're a sci-fi buff or just have an explorer's wanderlust, I'd check out No Man's Sky, which is coming out in a day or two, depending on where you're at. A universe-sized sandbox.

Think I'll grab Bloodborne for sure, then wait till the price drops on Dark Souls III and grab that.

No Mans Sky could be interesting, I looked at a couple of videos of it and it didn't look very fun. Was weird tbh, using a laser gun to collect materials and stuff. Is there an actual point to it, or is it basically just exploring with no actual "completion" ?

Just gotta wait for the reviews for no man's sky I think. Could be game of the year or could be boring trash.

I'll try not to get too lengthy, as I've droned on and on in the NMS thread, but to put it short the goal of the game is to see what's at the centre of the galaxy. There's supposedly something there, and the game will be urging you to develop your vehicle and to push towards the centre. Other than that, it's mainly a game of exploration.

How to play it is left very open. You could stay on the planet you first start on and explore it for hundreds of hours without having seen the whole thing. There's procedurally generated flora, fauna, terrain, there's remnants from other space-faring species, hinting at some deeper lore.

Or you could stay in space once you've taken off, never to touch down on another planet (of which there are 18,000,000,000,000,000,000+), finding the resources you need through mining asteroids, trading at space stations, or attacking larger star ships.

What the game is about and what the story is will be informed by you as much as by the game itself. If you're not the role-playing type, and if exploring the diversity of the game doesn't appeal to you, it might not be for you.
