Gaming PlayStation 4 (Console)

The Xbox is important to them in terms of branding and future platforms. It's not purely about the money it brings in and thats why they've stuck with it so far and will continue to do so.

Nothing points to them selling except for pure rumours and everything with merit suggests they will stick with it. I'm not going to concern myself getting into a battle of technicalities on something that isn't relevant.

Yet they don't really use the Microsoft brand with it. It's Xbox. I don't see the name Microsoft.

I was talking about this in the Wii U thread. Sony is somewhere in the middle.

Company name is still there quite prominently along with the PS branding and the OX[]^. Sony needs to associate their name with it, Microsoft doesn't with Xbox because it makes no sense, so why are they in the segment? They are in the segment because they wanted Windows in the living room - trouble now is that they are fecked as the majority of people using electronic devices are not using Windows full stop. That's the question, why are they still fannying around with this when their core businesses are being assaulted from every direction?

By something he means PS4 will get another price drop and Xbox One will be forced to have another sooner rather than later. Either way, it'll still get supported by third parties and MS.

PS4 with another price drop? I didn't know they had one already? I know they've been unofficial price drops with certain retailers... Which leads me to think they won't be a price drop. It still selling well so I don't think they need to drop the price just yet. What they need to do is show some killer games to make the PS4's price point even more attractive.

I don't know either way but I'd be surprised if they announce a price drop.

Sorry I didn't mean another. Weaste says he is in the know Twigg.

Not that I believe him.

I know I ask this every now and then so I apologise if people get annoyed. Just wondering if they sorted out the function to watch films via USB drive on PS4 yet? The new UFC game is coming out soon and I really want to get it but don't want to keep PS3 just to watch movies as I was planning on using it to recoup some money from buying the PS4...

They don't have DLNA support as yet but you can use Plex as a workaround. Not used it myself as I still have the PS3 but I know others have said it works ok.

I read about Plex but apparently after some update in late April, it's stopped working... I might be forced to splash out on a smart TV or get Apple TV and get beamer... not ideal :(

With a Vita, do you need to buy the game twice to play it remote play?

Does it basically turn your PS4 on and use the Vita as a screen over the internet?

You don't need to buy the game twice.

It's amazing.

Ah OK, might get one then sound's a good idea.

What else can you do apart from play games?
On a Vita? Play Vita games and a lot of other stuff, when it comes to a PS4-Vita link then Remote Play is basically all it does at the minute although it has the capability to use Vita as a second screen.

You won't get much for a PS3 these days, I'd recommend sticking to it and make use of Sony's great PS+ offerings since you'll be getting PS+ anyway.

Err... how? There's no plex client and the PS4 doesn't seem to pick up my media servers.

Ah OK, for the remote play alone though it sound's a good deal. Cheers

It's great, and the Vita's a great gadget in it's own right. I've been gaming on it equally as much as my PS3/PS4... and will probably continue to do so.

I commute so I play mine then (kindle hates this), and I often play at home too... my kids love it as well.

You didn't get the memo? The Vita hasn't sold well so there's no chance you can enjoy it.

Should have backed the 3DS. That sold well so you'd definitely prefer that.

My 'commute' takes literally 5 minutes. And with the other consoles I have it's just not getting played at home.

Vita's probably about dead when it comes to new releases already, there's no way it can match even PSP's pace when it comes to new games but it already has plenty of interesting stuff, it can play all PSP/PSone games, they're constantly making remakes of PS2/PS3 titles with plenty more to come. With PS+ it's a great little gadget, you'll be able to get Dragon's Crown for free next month and it's apparently ace.

I'll grab a vita when they get cheaper, PS+ basically will create a backlog of about 40 games to play the day I get it.

I would love it if the actually gameplay come close to that, but sadly it'll probably fall well short.

By "Who's next" can we assume they'll release further trailers featuring other characters?

That said, it will definitely go on the list of games I'll buy.

Most likely yes. Fighting games usually keep hype going until the game is released by slowly revealing a few characters at a time. Well either that or Goldberg is going to be in the game

What do we reckon to Playstation Now? Separate subscription to PS Plus, higher tier subscription of PS Plus, included in PS Plus (price increase?)?

Unless it isn't a subscription, and just single prices for buying/renting the ability to stream a game and PS+ just get discounts for it? Do we know if it's a subscription?

Two "seperates" in a row? "Separate", you animals.

That was Damien, not me. I'm no noob.

It's getting both! The price drop is a strategic move, so no, they don't need to do it, but they are doing it in an attempt to put the Xbox One to bed.

In that case they should put the Eye Toy in the box and keep it at the same price. That'd be great.

There are images floating around showing 1 day, 3 day and week long rentals for individual games
