I'd probably be interested in the last of us in next gen since I never played it for ps3 due to not having one at the time.

Any news on drive club yet?

There was something else I wanted to ask but can't remember now.

The development of DriveClub continues to go "from strength to strength", SCEE has told VideoGamer.com while responding to yesterday's reports highlighting the recent changes at Evolution Studios.

In a statement provided to us this afternoon, SCEE said that it "would like to make it very clear that the development of DRIVECLUB on PS4 is going from strength to strength. The announced studio changes across WWS yesterday have not affected the development of DRIVECLUB or the DRIVECLUB team, which has always had great direction and continues to do so.

"We have full confidence that the game will deliver on its PS4 promise to be the first truly socially connected racing title and we are very pleased and excited by the calibre of work from Evolution Studios.

"The progress being made on the game is spectacular," Sony continued, "so we're looking forward to sharing an update on development, release date and videos of the game in action in the weeks to come. We thank you for your patience and assure you, it will be worth the wait."

SCEE also confirmed that "DRIVECLUB does have a Game Director at the helm who we will be revealing very soon."

I love those press releases about games in development. What that actually means is it's probably been run like a load of shit, over designed but under spec'd from the start and way over budget. Now they are trying to cobble it all together and just get it out.

That's not quite true in this instance, they've had some problems but they felt it needed more work to make the game better and its looking great the last time I saw it in action.

Well obviously every project is different, but this has had plenty of the same old problems from the same old sources. Doesn't mean it will come out shit either, as long as the decent core team are still on the same page it should be fine.

What have been the main problems with the game so far? Has it been performance related like, the game running poorly when there are more than a few cars on screen (seeing as all the clips seen so far have been only a few cars) or have the social aspects of the gameplay not quite gelled together to form a good experience, or a mish mash of both?

These are the games I'm looking forward to:

- Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty -
- Octodad: Dadliest Catch -
- Watch_Dogs -
- Murdered: Soul Suspect -
- Destiny - Has a really good chance of being one of the best game ever. -
- Sniper Elite 3 - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UgTLk8duMNU
- Transformers: Rise of the Dark Spark - Really enjoyed the other Transformer games. - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sj-lD5gthQ8
- Dragon Age: Inquisition - I haven't played any DA games but this one looks amazing. - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U5hWjqOXc3g
- UFC - out in summer. - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XRcpu7jgwTg
- The Witness - Looks like something new and made by Jonathan Blow! - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0SwRB6GXOtQ
- Batman: Arkham Knight - Looks amazing and it's the last in the Batman series. - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wsf78BS9VE0
- #Driveclub - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qXeeDTZg6Tk
- Hohokum - Looks pretty interesting - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SxubgaQn-q0
- Planetside 2 - Free to play game. - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=41QFL4QB3NE
- The Division - The trailer looked great. - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xJgMl3BahWY

Not sure I can go in details but its a combination of a few things really which has resulted in changing quite a few things with the extra time the delay gave them. It's looks like its going to be much better for the delay, as frustrating as its been.

Trigg is insider guy? feck Lambs.

I do know that they were fecking about with Morpheus. Yoshida said it made him feel sick so they pulled that out of it. Sony say that it has not affected the game or had a hand in the delay of it, but that's obviously a load of bollocks. They must at some point have spent a lot of time getting it to run in 3D, and that is no longer required. The game director had to quit also due to his son being very ill.

Morpheus (or a version of) was was working with Driveclub on PS4 devkits long before now. I remember being told about something similar before Sony announced Playstation 4, probably around Christmas 2012. From what I know, that isn't the reason for the delay. Some things I can't share but the main ones being gameplay improvements, integrating the social aspect of the game and ironing out some performance bugs.

@Alock1 Not a insider per say but I'm friends with one of the game directors :)

Just because the Last of Us will run at 60fps doesn't mean I'd buy it/play it again.

Come on, it's now almost 6 months since the game was originally planned to go gold. Those points you have highlighted do not take 6 months and there is still no release date for it. It's going under a major technical overhaul.

Well the information I have is that it isn't going under a technical overhaul. But I best stop here before I say something I shouldn't.

I'm sure we'll learn more in the coming months though :)

That's all good in my mind then, I wish more developers/publishers gave their studio's more time, if they need it, to get games where they need to be to fully realise the vision they have in mind for it & to iron out any annoying/gamebreaking bugs. If the final product has the mark of quality and is better for it then a number of months delay really isnt something im gonna get bothered about.

I'm not doubting that you know someone feeding you information, but you're basically saying that they kept the engine and all of the art assets yet scrapped the "game" completely and started from scratch? Yoshida must be very happy!

Col Rodgers, the ex-game director had this to say on the 28th of March...

I left Evo in February for personal reasons. The personal reasons being that my son, who is 4 years old, has been diagnosed with Nephrotic Syndrome, which is a potentially life threatening condition. I live 220 miles (4 hours drive) away from Evolution Studios, and was away from home 5.5 days a week. Given the circumstances, I could not continue to work there.

Driveclub is a great game, and the direction hasn't changed since my departure. This has been confirmed by SONY in various press releases over recent days.

So it's not the gameplay? Then it's the technical side? Because what you suggest (tweaks) doesn't take 9 months+ [1] to rectify.

It was only delayed about 2 or 3 weeks before it should have launched in mid-November. It doesn't take this amount of time to iron things out. This is a studio that released games in a timely fashion before now.

2001 WRC: World Rally Championship
2002 WRC II Extreme
2003 WRC 3
2004 WRC 4
2005 WRC: Rally Evolved (October)
2006 MotorStorm (December)
2008 MotorStorm: Pacific Rift (October)
2009 MotorStorm: Arctic Edge (September)
2011 MotorStorm: Apocalypse (March)
2012 MotorStorm: RC
*2013 Driveclub (November)

It usually takes them less than 2 years to do a game from start to finish. Driveclub had the inconvenience of having to change platform from PS3 to PS4, new engine, etc. but that didn't stop them from the last WRC to Motorstorm. 9 months+ to iron out bugs from a studio that was before spitting whole games out every 20 months or so? Nope!

What games that baseball gif from? Looked at the list of upcoming games and there's two baseball ones out soon.

Oh yes I agree, I dont think this delay in particular was simply to Iron out some bugs and add a bit of extra polish, but clearly something wasn't sitting right with Evolution and they needed the time to to get the game fully realising the vision they had for it. I guess some of my post was also just showing a bit of frustration and a backhanded dig at the likes of EA where they will knowingly put out buggy glitchy products as they know people will buy them in their droves despite having a terrible reputation.

Talking of Motorstorm, why hasn't there been one for the Vita yet? Would make the PS4 more appealing too.

That first Motorstorm trailer for the PS3 was something else. Looked fantastic.

Yeah, it's actually quite fun for a bit though. But a real Motorstorm game would be good.

I downloaded the PSP one on it, I think the Artic Edge one, and it was pretty shocking.

I have a PS3 I got 2 years ago and am thinking of selling it for a PS4. Any thoughts on whether I should get a PS4 right away or wait till the summer (I hear updates might be coming)? I realize the longer I wait, the value of my PS3 goes down. Also, how much do you think I can reasonably expect for my PS3 which is in good condition and I'll throw in some games (nothing new)?

Depends which model it is, what the games are and any extra accessories. Not sure about when to get a PS4.. I don't think it'll go down in price any time soon, and if so not by much. I'd say to jump in whenever you are confident you have the money for it.

If you can get away with buying the PS4 without selling the PS3 that's what I'd suggest. That thing is a great gaming machine without a penny spent apart from your PS+ subscription (which I imagine you'll get with PS4 anyway to online multiplayer if you haven't already got it).

Thanks buddy. Is the PS+ subscription absolutely required? The only games I play are things like FIFA (with friends who come by) and single player games like AC, Drake etc. The model I have is the "slim" version of the PS3 with two controllers. Games are pretty old, FIFA 12 and 13, AC2, Brotherhood, GranTurismo5, Sands of Time and Drake.

Not sure how much you'd get for it, you're in the States right (I don't trust locations!) but I'm sure an ebay search would give you a good idea. I don't believe that retail stores offer good prices for consoles, but sometimes they offer a deal if you're buying a new one.

PS+ is required for online play and you get a free PS4 game with it every month. If you keep your PS3 for a while you should consider buying it now - about 3 games for PS3 every month. Good games too - Bioshock Infinite, Borderlands 2 and Tomb Raider have been the most recent big names on there.

Anyone who has a Playstation and doesn't have Plus is nuts!

Already got at least $100 worth of "free" games (just for PS Vita, not counting couple of PS4 games) and my 1 year subscription doesn't renew until July.

guilty as charged man. but really, i don't play that much, not more than a few hours a week (if that). and i don't buy more than 3-4 games a year. never got into playing with other folks online. wife would probably kill me if i started.

Really looking forward to Bound by Flame. If anyone fancies action RPG's this one looks good from what I've read/seen. Can't wait to try it out. Need more games to come out as I haven't been using my PS4 much lately..

I have been keeping my eye on that one, too. I don't know a great deal about the developers, though.
