Players you don't want United to sign this Summer

It'd be easier to say what I do want so then it'll say in itself who I don't want so I'd like to see an alternative attacking right back, a top class centre back, a genuine left back to rival Shaw, a defensive midfielder, a left sided forward and if Zlatan as likely now isn't renewed for a year then a powerful but proven striker.

Why do so many people not want Lukaku? :wenger:

He would be perfect for us if Ibra leaves. Louis Saha was brilliant for us and Lukaku is basically a better version of him.

23 years old and has been banging the goals in season after season. He would be immense alongside Pogba, Rashford and others.

If there's 3 targets I hope we sign in the summer, its Lukaku, Griezmann and Bakayoko.

I do want Lukaku but the reasons some people don't want him are that he isn't clinical enough in front of goal and that he has just peaked early due to his size (so is playing at his peak right now)

Lukaku: Would probably be an improvement for us but not the style I would want to see necessarily.
Dier: Would cost too much with the English player tax. A useful player but error prone as a CB and passing not good enough for midfield.
Joe Hart: I think his head has gone

James, Madrid castoff, that would likely include DDG in any deal, no thanks.

Major reservations that Lukaku would suit us either.

Of the players recently linked with us: Alba, Dier, James Rodriguez, Matuidi, probably Lukaku.

Some, like John Terry, are obvious, and hardly even worth mentioning. Well past his prime and a thoroughly unlikeable character. I would never want him anywhere near the club.

For me, Gareth Bale. Not that it would ever happen anyway, but I have no interest in him at this point. For the fee it would require, I would look elsewhere. He has seemingly spurned our interest previously (something I could overlook in the right circumstances). More importantly, he is constantly injured. He's just not reliable in that way at all, and I can't see it getting any better as he ages. Also, once he starts to lose some pace, his effectiveness will decline. He would be a very expensive gamble - one I wouldn't be willing to take.

I'm a huge fan of Lukaku but isn't worth the money Everton are asking for him. Would get Griezmann and play him behind Rashford with Mhiki and Martial

Hmm, think Mkhitaryan has been quite dull to be honest. I expected more from the Bundesliga POTY. So I hope he isn't the benchmark for future signings.

I'd agree, Mkhi has been up and down all season.

He's a complete featherweight on the ball at times as well.

Hard to disagree with any but wouldn't grumble if we got Lukaku either but fee would have to be around £60m mark.

Seeing us with pace up front (Rashford, Martial, Lingard) has made me question Lukaku. Then again, he's no slouch once he gets going, and as long as we have pace either side of him, he'd still do well in a counter attacking system. But the reported fee is way off.

Mertens.

Lukaku is actually very fast!

I guess I'm thinking of him dribbling with the ball. But, in our system, I would imagine it would be Rashford/Martial/Mkhi doing the dribbling. So could actually work well.

Lukaku - For the amount mentioned we could buy almost anyone in the world
Hart - Great one second, sloppy the other
Lindelöf - Not good enough
Perisic - We can do better
Bakayoko - Not impressed

Lukaku - His all round game just isn't good enough for a top team. I doubt we will though considering Jose sold him at Chelsea.

Michael Keane - He's on the level of Smalling and Jones. Players of a higher quality won't exactly be impossible to find.

Madrid's unwanted stars, unless of course they were offered for bargain prices.

Then, players from Tottenham. I like Alli and Kane as much as the other guy, but you just know they will be way overpriced and there are better alternatives elsewhere.

I wouldn't be against Lukaku now. He would add size and power. He looks slow when he's caught on his heels, but in a swift counterattack with space around him he can really get on his bike. He's been physically strong even when he was 16, but I think the technical side of his game will improve even more in the future. He would give us the option to play in different structure, then bring in Rashford/Martial for a quicker attack as the defence tires, or just to keep the opposition guessing.
He's a bit of a luxury signing but there's every chance he'd add points through the course of a season.

James. Would have loved him before he went to Madrid. We need some pace in this squad.

A fit Saha is twice the player of Lukaku you must be joking me. Sahas link up play, touch and finishing was on a different level. Injuries destroyed him.

People saying Mbappe. Yeah, how shit would it be signing one of the worlds best up and coming players!!

Michael Keane - if we getting rid of Smalling then get somebody better than him.

Kessie, Bakayoko, Pickford, James, Lindelof, Perisic, Barkley.

I'm really on the fence about Michael Keane.

Why not John Terry? He would be a great role model for Smalling and Phil Jones. "Come on boys, it's time for our weekly injections an get fit to play!"
