Player ratings v Spurs

because the sun shines out of Wenger's arse, obviously...

Barthez 8
P Nev 7.5
Rio 7
O'Shea 7.5
Silvestre 7
Beckham 7
Veron 6.5
Butt 7.5
Giggs 7
Ole 7.5
Ruud 7.5

I though there was a lot of ropey first touches yesterday, the ball seemed to be flying off their boots far too much. I thought the workrate was good and we were creating chances, but without the killer finish still. A ref who couldn't control a tin of peas didn't help either.
Docherty was shocking and should ahve been off for 2 penalty worthy "tackles" in the space of a minute, but didnt even get a yellow! Richards is a little tw@ as well for laying into Ruud

So looking through everyones personal ratings i see that Veron is the lowest rated player or joint lowest in all the ratings bar one.

I've always said consistency was a big part of his game

;)

for those who slag Barthez, would you all give it a rest??
he saved us last Sat. Okay, he screwed up last season, fine. But he's been great in his first season and this season. It's a wonder many people already forget his contribution and already calling his head off.
For Veron, I agreed that he still overhit most of his passes, but he works his socks off in the match, and he made those tackles and interceptions to break to Spurs attack.
On other hand, anybody remember when Spurs players caught Butt trying to be Zidane a couple of times?

Can you please explain how you give that shitebag Veron a higher rating than the young classy lad O'Shea.</strong><hr></blockquote>

Knock it off with the Veron bashing, Veron is a world class midfielder, he can be a tremendous addition to MUFC, sure he is struggling abit at the moment but its only from trying to hard to impress, like Irwin said he just needs to try do the simple things first and find some form.

Also why is it that everyone says we need to encourage Forlan when he is struggling, we need to give a games and all this and everyone just wants to slag off Seba? I think true fans should be encouraging ANY player who is struggling for form, the only ones who deserve slagging off are the ones who dont try and no one can accuse Veron of that.

Barthez 8 - CALM & STEADY
O`Shea 7 - FAIR PLAY BUT LACK EXPERIENCE
Rio 7 - MISSION COMPLETED
P.Neville 7 - PROMOTE TO MIDFIELDER SOON?
Silvestre 8 - GOOD DEFENSE !
Butt 7 - FAIR PLAY
Veron 7 - PLAYED DOWN TO HELP IN DEFENSE, TOO ANXIOUS TO SHOOT.
Becks 7 - GOOD EFFORT IN OVERALL
Giggs 6 - HARD TO PRODUCE WHEN FACING TOO MANY MARKERS.
RVN 6 - LOSE MANY CHANCES, SHOULD STRENGTH UP POWER WHEN SHOOTING.
OGS 7 - SHOULD HAD SCORED IF HE CHOOSE THE OTHER SIDE TO SHOOT.

Probably because Seba has already got a lot of games yet he's still shit. If Forlan has been given the same number of minutes on the field as Seba has, who know he cannot give a better contribution than Veron?

There are a lot of people who won't hear a word against Seba either.

I think that what it comes down to is the fact that some people don't have the balls to stand up and say we might have made a bad buy, whoever the player is.

It's like the siege mentality thing. We bought them - they must be good.

The only explanation that makes sense to me.

</strong><hr></blockquote>

Yes, and may be if he hadn't come outfield it would have been a goal. And obviously nobody would have reproached him that. I must say that not many keepers are able to do that, I've seen him do that many times, last year for some reasons he failed and was called a clown but that's his style : anticipation. Yesterday the French TV said : the real Barthez, the old Barthez we know and admire is back !

As for the save from Richards, can't you understand that when a striker hits a keeper, or seems to hit him, it's because the keeper is well positioned and anticipates well. That a keeper who dives is not well placed. Yesterday he made four important saves and those who don't want to recognize it are just dishonest or don't understand nothing to the goalkeeping art.

Give it a rest Elfie. He did well, but no more than you'd expect from a keeper. A keeper at that level should always be positioned well. I know a bit about goalkeeping, in fact I venture a guess that I have kept goal on many more occasions than you have.

Thats crap, I just think people are getting on Seba's back unfairly, anyone can clearly see that he is trying and just hasnt quite settled in yet, Forlan has promise and nothing more.

Besides i can quite easily admit when we make a make buy, I think buying Barthez was a serious mistake and selling Stam to be replaced by Blanc was scandalous. Forlan was a rip off at 7.5mil as was Ferdinand at 30mil (exception here because this was still a good buy)

Veron has what no one else at MU has, the ability to unlock defences, Becks cant do it and has been shite for ages, Keane never had it and Scholes's only way of doing it is shot, Veron can find that crucial pass to open teams up, he is just trying too hard to do it.

I was in goal when we played football at school.

As for Barthez, yes he did what he had to do. I don't know what he could have done better yesterday, so no need to go with your "as a Barthez critic"..."nothing special". I mean, you like to criticize him, but leave him for a while (for once)when he does nothing wrong. Reflex saves are not so easy to do. BTW, it's not the best game he ever made, it's a very good game and it's good for his confidence.

I'm not related to him, unfortunately, but I really adore him and enjoy his style, and it makes me mad to read all those stupid comments concerning him. Those comments are ruining my joy at seeing him back in form.
Still, I'm not hysterical at all, I mean, don't worry, I'm not sending him letters or trying to meet him.
But if he keeps only one supporter, it will be me.

You supported United before he joined us, right? You're certainly one of his biggest fans, nowt wrong with that, its just many of us don't have any special attachment to him, so he gets the same praise/criticism any other player gets.

No, he doesn't. No other player has been called idiot/mentally ill/french bastard/dwarf/clown/corrupted and I forget ones. But when he does well, just recognize it. You were keen to say that Carroll had kept more clean sheets than Fab this season. It wasn't true. I bet that if Carroll (and I've nothing against him) had been in goal yesterday you would have said "Carroll has played very well". So you're as biased as me.

As for being a United supporter, I may be a Barthez fan, but Manchester United has always been my favourite club since the Cantona years. I mean, Fab was linked to other big clubs, like Milan AC, but I wanted to see him at United and nowhere else.
