Pierre-Emile Højbjerg

The amount of people who just reject him purely because he’s from Spurs :wenger: Only player with Kane who was actually good last year, but I guess watching Spurs is not a criteria
Dont let the Danish tinted glasses blind your judgment.

There has to be a cheaper, younger option somewhere out there at his level. I cannot believe he's the best we can come up with.

The window keeps getting better. Is he better than McT or Fred ? Ok, Fred isn't a DM but McT as a DM ?

Bit of a clogger, slow and annoying. Would fit Mourinho but not a modern team.

How much will he cost 30m? 85m spent on midfield and Its arguably worse than last season

It's amazing how some can talk themselves into any dross signing. This will be nonsense surely.

I just read the story and Jason Burt is saying that Tottenham are offering Hojberg to clubs but United's top target 'appears' to be Amrabat.

I feel that the bold part should be stressed in this thread. I personally believe he’s a smokescreen/negotiation tactic for someone else anyway.

So many people slamming ETH for going for players he knows and ignoring the scouting department and totally failing to register that the story is that Spurs have offered the player to us, ETH may have no interest in him whatsoever but quite a few posters have found an agenda and will push it at every turn. So far as the player goes, he is a profile that we need and don't really have in the squad right now but is not exactly inspiring. I suspect that as mentioned earlier in the thread, this is being planted to get Atletico to pay up.

I think he is better than both of them as a DM. More physical than Fred and alot better passer than McTominay. Lacks creativity in the final third. I think he would make sense if he was cheap.

Spoken like someone who really hasn't watched him a lot.

Not a world beater by any means, but "awful" ffs

He's mediocre. Offers nothing better than Fred and McTominay. One of them we've sold, the other we're deadset on selling.

Poor Amrabat has been waiting with his bags packed for 2 months :(

It’s so obvious there’s no plan at United

Agents offering up any old dross to probably 30 clubs around Europe hoping we’ll stump up the cash and we always take the bait

Hojbjerg at United…feck off

Are we actually embracing mid-table and the idea of being the new Spurs? Ok, so we're skint but swap deals and loans are a thing right? Or is it just the fact that our club has no ethos so we just go with whatever players the manager vaguely knows regardless of talent?

Noooooo! He’s a shithousing dirty shitc**t.

What’s with all these stupid pointless links? Where’s our planning? Where’s our long term vision? Where’s our ambition?

Why are we always do painfully reactive instead of proactive??!!

If on a free yes as we need a backup, but levy will try and rinse us. Whats happened to Amarabat?

Its called clickbait, the media will write any old shite about United because it brings the eyeballs. Blaming the club for all of the nonsense transfer rumours you read is pointless, our planning, vision and ambition are not played out in front of a room full of journalists.

Spurs are trying to offloading him and he wouldn't be the worst player to have in the squad as a rotation option for Casemiro. What people need to realise is that we don't have the money to buy a more established midfielder right now after prioritising the signings of a GK and striker along with a attacking midfielder and prioritising the development of Kobbie Mainoo. I might be in the minority but I'm really looking forward to seeing Mainoo in the first team and I think he has the attributes to be a metronome for us in the middle of the park.

So whoever we sign is likely going to be a cheaper rotation option. I personally would take a chance on the Feyenoord DM Mats Wiefer to come in as rotation option for Casemiro. I think there's potential to develop further with him as well. And then next summer we should be prioritising a more established midfielder who we should be able to buy with a bigger budget allocated for the holding midfield position.

How can he rinse us when they’re offering him to us? That’s all this is.
The over reaction is ridiculous

Ro be fair, he is jsut as good if not better than Arambat but god no, how is it possible this window that we may end up having signed Mount, Evans, Hojlberg and loaning someone like Regulion as as 2/3 of our transfer business this summer.

Even what I would view as the worst contributions to the "what we need" thread this summer seem to be better than our recruitment teams.

Ten Hags first window in my opinion wasnt a good one long term, only Martinez has exceeded what I expected and looked a good transfer fee wise, ability/performance wise and age wise.

But if this window finishes something like it could do I genuinely think Ten Hag could be in as much trouble come the end of his second season as both Mourinho and SOlkjear were. For me all he would have actually improved is our distribution from the keeper and added a striker......with Weghorst/Martial we didnt even have one, could have signed Stevie Wonder and that would have been an improvement.

Evans isnt the uphrade we needed at centreback for squad depth and competition
Mount is never going to be the number 8 we need
Holjberg/Arambat are neither the calibre or profile of player we need to add to our midfield
With Greenwood going rightly or wrongly, there is no credible second striker here to compete with someone we have no idea if will be good as not played

Its looking like an utter shambles of a window, and one that we may well have spent......and one we may have spent £200m on by the end of this window, £200m how? Thats not even going into all the talk beginning of this window of raising arounf £150M in sales....weve sold 5 players and no teven raised £40m.

Hnestly, if Ten Hag has a successful season out if this, he is a remarkable manager....but personally, I think it goes the other way and he has to take blame if these are the deals he is making, seriously dissapointed by what was a hugly imoortant window, only Hoijlund so far excites me as a signing

From all midfielders with who we are linked, he is maybe best option. Someone who is strong on the ball and is classic central midfielder. Tbh, i would take him before Amrabat.
Far from that he is some top player or something. That ship has sailed.

No thanks.

If we're gonna sign a player this underwhelming, let it be someone I've seen less of. That way I can kid myself he'll be really good for a while.

I don't know... he's a decent player, and we need numbers in midfield. But I don't know anymore. Is ETH struggling a bit re transfers?

And why are we not looking for some forwards? We have three who aren't cutting it. The lack of fire-power will continue to cause us problems. ETH will feel the pressure. We need more control in games, we are still so, so very open (which makes me wonder what ETH is coaching...??), but without a genuine goal-threat, we are going to struggle.

Just don't get where ETH is going with his transfer strategy.

He's quite good at interceptions and forward passes. Not the best tackler going.

He also has legs, with feet at the end, which are useful for running and also kicking the ball.
