Done now, which makes no sense for us and the fee is rather underwhelming considering his output for us.
I know he isn't rated highly on here but he's been a standout player in the league as evidenced by every metric.
think of the profit you will make on him- should make you guys dream of even signing messi- after all, ian Wright said one of your players has a Messi vibe, whatever that means lol

This is were i point out that Coutinho is on *£150k a week, and barca offered him *£345k a week. Why would Coutinho want to wait for summer?

*assuming media reports are correct

I think this highlights two things:

1) Look at how Barca responded to losing Neymar vs United when they lost Ronaldo.

We have different objectives, in reality. For Barca, it’s all about the team. United is all about making profit.

2) United have no chance of aquiring the two top class attackers they are desperate for. The going rate now is above 150m for a top class player.

Also, if we were in Barca’s position we would never spend 150m on a player. We are quite shit and I doubt we’d spend that now.

I don’t think I’ve ever read a post of yours which contained anything positive about United.

Rubbish, but here’s one for you-

Thank feck we have Mourinho. I cannot believe anyone questions him. He is the best thing we have going and I am sure will bring some success relative to what looks achievable these days - consistent CL qualification and decent runs in the competition; perhaps an FA Cup.

All Mourinho needs is a couple world class attackers and hen his tactical knowhow would guarantee success. Problem is attaining these attackers. The likes of City, Barca, Real and PSG have several and seem to have no problem replacing them when the time comes.

We need a 25 year old Bale and Van Persie.

I think he’s been world class this season barring a few games. He’s really stepped up his game consistently. He will be a miss for Liverpool there’s no doubt about that

that's so true but him, suarez and whatevr other good player they lost in recent years won nothing for Liverpool.... they will miss Shootinho's irregular great goals but anything else, hmmm- not so sure. But then again, next year they have to brace themselves for Barca eyeing salah, firmino and Mane.... Liverpool will make bucketloads while their team continues to win sweet FA. Long may that coutinho... er... continue hehehehe

What we will miss is his ball carrying ability, his goals pulled out of nowhere when everyone else plays like shit and his ability to dink the ball over the defence straight into Salah and Mane.

The rest Lallana can do.

Is Coutinho genuinely that good to merit that kind of fee?

The amount of long range goals he scores will be a huge loss for sure. And his free kicks.

Others may score a few, but he is so consistent at them. It really helps to pin a defence back when they are concerned about Coutinho being able to bang a goal in from 30 yards.

I agree, it’s ridiculous when supporters rile on buying Clubs. Liverpool on Barca - Southampton on Liverpool. Many more PL Clubs have also dined at the Saints table too. We can even look at Southampton’s own raids across Hadrian’s Wall where they themselves have picked 4 players from Celtic. Thats just football!

Everyone will need to recalibrate what merits a transfer fee in the current bubble market

I'm talking in context about today's prices only but then I guess Dembele was sold for the same amount too and he isn't a better player than Coutinho.

Yes. He's one of the top 10/15 best players in the world. He's 25 and entering his prime, and if his last 4 months for Liverpool are any indication...well. Right now he's the 3rd best player in England, and it's a close race between him De Bruyne and Kane

Oh, and he's a white brazilian, too. That means a lot from a sponsorship/image rights pov

What? Silva and Salah are ahead of him right now. Silva has been comfortably for years.

Easily. I'd put money on him finishing top 3 in Ballon D'or within the next couple of years, and would say he's nearly as good as Suarez was when he left (albeit in a different position).

That's a very surprising opinion. I don't think he's the best player in that Liverpool side, but ofcourse I don't see him as often as you.

He's playing exceptionally well this season. But Mane has always been our best player since we signed him from Southampton. An injury and loss of form hasn't changed that opinion, even when Real come for him in the summer.

And even with Mane's loss of form Coutinho can only dream of the impact Salah has made. So he's still not the best player at the club, even this season and even with Mane giving him an opening.

He won't be knocking on any balloon doors despite Tomatoes' optimism. :)

Liverpool's problem is their backline, and Klopp has signed gems such as Klavan and Karius. Liverpool's so called good players in their backline are bog standard ie. Matip, Gomez, Robertson.

The more money Klopp gets the more lopsided the team gets, because he can't spot a top defender or keeper.
Matip on the other hand has been a pretty good buy. The thing is Klopp didn't spend much money on the likes of Klavan or Karius, i think the former hasn't been a complete flop, scored a goal recently.

I'm wary of what Klopp will do with about 150 mil. The man is a petulant child, but he knows his stuff and apart from Van Dijk i don't think he will be held to ransom.

Still, losing Coutinho would be a huge problem, i'm not sure that Liverpool will cave in, but maybe they promised Coutinho something last summer.

So Coutinho's gone.. Yikes.

I fecking hope we have a replacement lined up so that this January won't turn into nothing but a like for like swap of VVD and Coutinho and FSG pocketing 60m. If, and I know it's a big if, we could get VVD and Lemar, then I could kind of accept it. I've never seen Lemar play, but apparently he's good.

Just saw this, I don't know if it has been posted before, but it's so stupid that it's funny.
Since I cannot post videos because of my status, it would be great if someone else posted it or just use the below address:

Keita has already been acquired too as well I think? That's great business by Liverpool

Yeah, and I'm excited by him, but from my understanding he's a box-to-box midfielder, nothing like Coutinho. If we sell Cou for 150m Euros and don't reinvest we will have a negative net spend in two transfer windows. That's not enough if we want to compete with you, City, Chelsea and the CL.

Shame to see a player like Coutinho leave the league, but obviously Liverpool losing 1 of their best players is a good thing.

He will be great for Barca, Iniesta's replacement IMO.

If I was Klopp I'd definitely be looking at spending big on a goalkeeper and a holding midfielder so they can actually control games and give their defence some security instead of their goalkeeper making constant mistakes.

We have some fantastic attackers, but he is the most creative and naturally talented. He is in the top bracket in terms of dribbling, passing and shooting and contributes goals and assists consistently, despite having the responsibility of a creator rather than a finisher. Will fit Barcelona like a glove.

Clicked the link. It sent me to the Canadian Nike store and although it’s in French (I don’t know why), it definitely had the Coutinho story.

Large French speaking population in Canada, especially Quebec.
