It's no worse than the borderline xenophobia that the American owners have been given in the Premiership. Yanks Out?

It's what happens with dodgy foreign owners. Especially when they look as dodgy as those Indian chicken people.

even with Mike Ashley and the "Cockney Mafia" actually.

They are complete idiots.
Didnt Anuradha Desai say she wanted Blackburn to finish 4th and were going to invest 5m to do so.
They have no fecking clue. I cant understand why they bought the club if they know so little about it.

Them being idiots has little to do with the Jones situation, if at all there is a 'situation'
If there isnt a release clause, they are entitled to ask for more money, especially considering 3 clubs reportedly bid 16m for him.
If there is a release clause, then its only a matter of time before it gets ratified

There are a few shit owners in English football tho
Hicks is gone, so is he imaginary guy who owned Pompey
Notts Co. had rubbish owners
the Chinese owners of Brum
Takshin at city
Gold+ sullivan+ Brady whereever the feck they are
Mike Ashley

Nah I wasn't saying that your post is Xenophobic. I'm not even keen on defending them. Just that every time there is a mention of the Venky's, there is a xenophobic tone(not restricted to this thread only) which is irritating.

Owners from countries where football is not the primary sport will always be greeted with that little bit of extra cynicism and will be subject to extra criticism and scrutiny throughout most of their tenures.

Probably the same thing would happen to Japanese IPL team owners. It might seem xenophobic, but tbh I wouldnt say it is. Ignorant maybe, sure. But then again, foreign owners havent exactly been stand up owners in the PL anyway.

You never heard about the 'talking only' minimum clause didn't you? Rumor say that Phil's mother ended up filing for bankruptcy because of that. Poor woman, she called the boy on the phone and....

I've always had a bit of time for Venky's since their first act was to sack Allardyce - exactly what I'd have done.

I'm still waiting for my chickens, but I've got 17 Blackburn season tickets for sale if anyone wants some. :D

They appear to be as dumb as we think, to be honest.

Venky's’ football advisers are understood to be attempting to resolve the impasse by making it clear to the Indian owners that the clause, inserted into Jones’s contract when he agreed an extension to his terms in February, enables a transfer to take place at the cost of the escape clause.

How the flying feck did this lot of idiots pass the FA "Fit and Proper Persons Test"?!

Venky's, who completed their Blackburn takeover last November, believe that Jones is worth £25 million because of the confirmed interest of United, Liverpool and Arsenal in the centre-half.

United, who have agreed a £15 million transfer fee with Aston Villa for Ashley Young, believed they had secured England Under-21 international Jones to a five-year deal after triggering his escape clause on Tuesday by offering in excess of £16 million for the player.

Jones has passed a medical and agreed personal terms with United, but the transfer is yet to be rubber-stamped because of the confusion at Ewood Park, which has led owners Venky's to believe that the £16 million trigger clause enabled clubs to only speak to Jones before making a more sizeable offer.

There are no fears at United or among the player’s advisers that the transfer is in any doubt.

James Ducker responds to the Telegraph article: I don't know if it's hilarious or disturbing how clueless they are.

They have a lot to learn about ownership of a football club. If I supported Blackburn I would be worried about these clueless people. Let's hope they get the message quickly and don't let greed get in the way of common sense. We've done everything the right way and the law is on our side.

Just let him go.

I wonder is their footballing consultant, Jerome Anderson, not available to advise them?

Or is he too busy making sure the transfer of his talentless son to Blackburn goes through?

They are trying to piss about because of the wording of the contract. Only danger is it will hold stuff up in an annoying way.

I wonder how the Blackburn fans feel having such clueless idiots running their club. On a related note, how the feck did these people pass the 'fit & proper persons test' - they don't seem to have any idea how to run a club.

Oh dearie me. If that's true it's a very worrying sign for Blackburn and it's fans.

VEnky's a making a mistake as their good players will hold off on signing new contracts.

This will go through. It is called a Release Clause. Blackburn understood by it that it they are powerless once the fee has been met. This is what Jones' advisers understood as well. This is also what our advisers understood so it will go through as the meaning behind the intent is what counts.

Also once Jones states that he is ONLY interested in United it is impossible for Blackburn to start a bidding war!

It will go through.

Surely it'd be impossible even if he didn't fancy us. Other clubs would just meet the release clause as well, leaving Jones to choose.

yes the law of contract, 'offer' and 'acceptance' with intention, so basically we offered £16m, they accepted the clause by letting us agree terms and medical.

Blackburn have no leg to stand on, they realised too late how valuable Jones was, probably after seeing henderson go for more, typical clueless owners.

£16m is a lot for teenagers, don't be too greedy.

That is embarrassing, if true. Grossly unprofessional.

yeah, agree with this.

Hopefully it's media bollocks, but if not it certainly seems they are being a bit daft here. I totally understand that as owners of the club they are entitled to get the best deal they can and are obliged to maximise value, but this seems like they really have no idea what's going on. It is embarassing to Blackburn - if the clause is met they need to accept it and not try to push the price up simple becuase they got more interest/offers than anticipated when they put the clause into Jones' contract.

Hopefully it won't put a spanner into the works and cause this to drag out. Looking forward to seeing Jones sign - it was fairly out of the blue but he's such a great prospect and I'm delighted we seem to have got him.

No. If he wasn't too bothered who he joined then Blackburn are the strong party as they will sell to whoever pays the highest.

The key thing is that he only wants to join us - so the price cannot rise.

Also they cannot not sell as we have met the release clause. Tough Venky!

I'm confused.
Is there something special about this release clause that I'm missing?

If it's a normal release clause. Why would clubs want to bid more than the release clause states? They'll get to speak with the player either way and won't get anything extra out of bidding more.

It depends on what the contract actually says. A bid of £15M may trigger negotiations without definitive fee.

No as far as I know (not a lot about this transfer) nothing special about release clauses.

Yes if a club wants to speak to them then they have to meet the release clause. But if the player isn't bothered who they go to and there are more buyers then the laws of supply and demand come into play.

i.e. imagine we have a very talented Brazilian player that SAF has just had enough of who is in his prime. Let's call him Resario He's a tricky winger who scores goals, but he's a bit greedy and likes the girls and the alcohol.

He has a release clause of £18 million. SAF has had enough of him but Resario doesn't really want to go. SAF has told him if he stays he'll rot in the reserves!

Let us say that Real Madrid, Barcelona, & AC Milan come in for him. He isn't really bothered where he goes but all 3 clubs have met the release clause of 18m. Who is in the powerful position?

Resario would only be in the powerful position if he wanted to go to a particular team as they've all met the release clause and so he can choose.

But if he doesn't want to leave and can't choose between them then the 3 clubs are not in the powerful position. Manchester United are. They can tell each club that although they've all met the release clause of 18m, so have another 2 clubs - and it then becomes an auction - would you pay 18.5? 19? 19.5? 20? 20.5? etc.

Let's say that Real Madrid will go up to 23 million and then the other clubs pull out. Manchester United tell Resario that they're selling him to Real Madrid - Resario gets a 2.3m signing on fee and everyone's happy (perhaps not Barcelona or AC Milan!)

we would not have had him do a medical if we were not sure that the release clause had been triggered. We do have excellent attorneys who understand such contracts.

It is obvious the owners dont understand.

their attorneys will advise them they cannot get more money.
