PFA Premier League team of the year

Van Dijk over Maguire is a joke. And Cancelo over Shaw? Fecking hell. They must really hate us. gotem

Ronaldo is in that and people think it should be taken in any way seriously. Folk be trippin

Yet he outscored every other striker in the league bar Salah and Son, who are more wide/support attackers. Salah being in there, and Son competing v Mane for a slot.

Rodri not being in this XI is a travesty.

The only 2 who scored more league goals were Salah and Son and we had a team of actual jokers in support.
So what's your problem exactly?
My problem is he was streaky as hell and scored 55% of his goals against 3 teams. In the most crucial part of the season he scored 2 non penalty goals in 14 games in a period spanning nearly 3 months. He scored 15 non penalty goals which is less than Mane and as many as De Bruyne, Jota and Vardy.

I agree with the back 5. Would maybe have Cancelo on the right and Robertson on the left.

3 in the middle should be Rodri, Rice, KdB.

3 up top should be Son, Kane and Mane.

even going off your logic Mane played central for most of the season (and better than Ronaldo did) so Son can easily get in.

Yey, more trophies for Liverpool. Congratulations to them.

When is that crucial part of the season of 3 months?

Between 5th December and 26th February. Piss easy run of fixtures in the league where we really could’ve made a go at top 4, and the only games he scored in were vs Brighton and Burnley.

Erm yes, I’d say being in touching distance of 4th place and having 12 league games without playing a single big team and having to play Palace, Nowrich, Burnley, Burnley again, Southampton, Leeds and Watford is pretty crucial given a) they’re all shite and b) it was the same time both Spurs and Arsenal were having a rough time was a very crucial part of our season. That was our chance to get away from the pack.

I'd have James, Rodri and Son in there for Trent, Thiago and Mane.
6 Liverpool players in plus the best manager but didn't win the title?!

I Hope Son will ever recover from Martial savagely touching him, he was in so much pain there on the grass. He was probably omitted as he is surely still in physical therapy.
I think you're thinking of Lamela who got Martial sent off. Son went down too easily when McTominay 'threw an arm' which led to a disallowed goal.

These teams can be dodgy enough but Son’s omission is one of the worst in a long time.

Trent had one of the best right back PL seasons ever.

Such a glorious season leading his team to their second worst season in the past 30 years.

Thiago should be out

City and Liverpool were neck to neck. Can be argued that Rodri had the better season but I wouldn't oppose placing Fabinho at DM either.

Rudiger is great, but his side conceded more goals than City/Liverpool. I think he at best is on the bench, making room for Matip or one of City's CBs.

Up front, Son not getting in is a travesty. Should be him and Salah as locks. Ronaldo/Mane/Kane fight in a no-holds-barred match to determine who takes the final spot.

No Matip, Robertson, Henderson, Fabinho or Jot...Diaz?! I'm outraged.

Worth noting that Rudiger was missing when they had an absolute disaster against Arsenal and conceded 4 goals. Still conceded more than the other two teams, but not as much without that game.

Agreed on Thiago, lovely to watch but Fabinho is far more important to Liverpool than Thiago. Fabinho remains a little underrated. Rodri was also better.

son over mane all day long that’s crazy

Mané on the right and Salah on the left makes absolutely no sense.

Pfa award winners are players chosen by other professional players in the same league?

Isnt this determined by voters of fellow professionals? i find it out why its always the guys from the top 4 when there are standout performers down the table, just seems like footballers are a bunch of FM players.

Shows how badly Klopp has underachieved with the players he has at his disposal. 6 of his players compared to City's 3. His days are numbered.
Certainly is odd. Won manager of the year too. I agree with the people saying Rodri and Son are missing here. Rodri had a better season than B.Silva and Thiago both.

I'd replace Ronaldo with Mane as the CF and Son as the LW. I'd replace Thiago with Rodri.
City have so many good players who are playing for each other that none of them actually standout individually. Great work by Pep - impossible to nullify any one player.

For striker I would pick Kane over CR7 because of his goal and assist output.

Kane was crap for 6 months. No way he should be in instead of Ronaldo. However Son should 100% be in there and I reckon Mane was better than Ronaldo overall.

I would replace Thiago with Rodri, and Son in place of Mane or Ronaldo.

The who scored statistical XI of the season is a much fairer reflection.

Alisson

Alexander-Arnold
Matip
Van Dijk
Cancelo

Salah
De Bruyne
Rodri
Son

Kane
Mane

This is actually pretty close I think.
