'Pep' Guardiola sack watch

That starting back 4 was madness. He got the subs spot on though.

I don't understand why İlkay Gündoğan doesn't start more in there beside rodri

Two back to back PL titles without a recognized striker/goal scorer is impressive.

Saw on Twitter this is his 4th league title out of 10 that went down to the wire for him.

Barcelona 99 points
Madrid 96 points

Barcelona 96 points
Madrid 92 points

City 98 point
Liverpool 97 points

City 93 points
Liverpool 92 points

People can quibble about the Champions League and him 'only' winning it twice (hilarious) but he's one of the greatest managers of all time. That's a simple fact.

In my opinion, the best PL manager of all time after SAF. This was easily the hardest PL season since 2006-07.

Yeah I'd agree with this. He's surpassed Mourinho & Wenger now. Four league titles in five years is an incredible feat and they've retained it twice now.

Let's see if he can win three consecutive PL titles, and then a fourth. SAF remains King of the Mountain.

If he was to win the league and CL next season then the comparisons with SAF would likely be made, but SAF has such extreme longevity that it's unlikely he'll ever be beaten. 13 league titles in a 20 year timeframe is never going to be beaten.

Sir Alex is untouchable, no one will ever get within 5 PL's of him but I love my Pep Guardiola is my idol more than any other. Not since Stephen Ireland have I been as attracted to a shiny head.

Hey who'd have known the caf auto converts "bal d frau d" to Pep Guardiola. Sneaky mods.

Today, for the second time in a week, I heard a Citeh fan on a phone-in swooning over Pep for being the first manager to win back to back Premier league titles twice. 2 different fans! And the moderators indulged them rather than pointing out the obvious. How deluded can fans be???

Not only do we have our own bald man now but also he's better at celebrating.

Because Bernardo is better at covering the ground. Gundogan is better when we play 433 like when he came on.

Yes SAF in the PL but I reckon Pep is or will probably end up the best overall. 10 leagues in 14 seasons? A little short on European glory though just like SAF. But insane in 3 leagues.

Nope.

Why are people forgetting what Sir Alex did at Aberdeen??

He beat Real Madrid in a European final, Pep can't even do that despite spending well over a billion pounds more than what Sir Alex did with Aberdeen.

Sorry, but Pep will never get close to even remotely matching what Sir Alex achived at Aberdeen, nevermind what he achieved with us as well.

Winning the title with Bayern isn't exactly a major achievement, failed in europe there and failed in europe with city too despite spending absurd amounts of sports washing oil money. What he achieved at Barcelona was truly spectacular but the comparisons to Sir Alex are cringe.

Exactly, Sir Alex and his career achievements, especially those at Aberdeen, are light years ahead of what Pep has achieved as a manager, and he did it all without having the best player in the world to help him shape his tactics.

Without Messi, Pep is a failure in Europe, whereas Sir Alex didn't need anyone like Messi to beat Real Madrid in a European final.

Pep is a long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, ong, long, long, long, long way behind Sir Alex in career managerial stakes.

I'd like to see Pep win a title with Aberdeen and then win 13 titles at a club that isn't backed by oil states, but instead has to compete against such teams

This guy is definitely the most successful (and probably the best) league manager ever.

He's had money and dominant squads but still. His record in leagues is impeccable.

There's a lot of discussion on who's the best manager in the world at the moment - him or Klopp - and I think the answer is very simple. Pep in the league and Klopp in the cups.

Pep can't beat Real Madrid in semi final of a European competition, let him try to do that, before trying to match Sir Alex, by beating them in a final.

It is crazy for anyone to even hint at, nevermind outright say that Pep could be better than Sir Alex, ot will not be possible for that to ever be the case.

I think it's two different eras. Nowadays football is just a completely different business. In my eyes, SAF built the foundation and Pep has shown how to push it to new levels.

SAF and Pep are themselves two completely different people, separated by generations (SAF is not even a boomer).

So now that Man City has won 4 out of the last 5 PL titles, can we call it a one-horse league? It's as many as PSG in France and more than Juventus in Italy.

If Liverpool has Luis Diaz from the start of the season, they likely would've won the league. The lack of depth in the front 3 and having to play Mane, Salah and Jota every game killed them.

Whilst Pep's achievements are commendable it goes to show the power of having super deep squads to play in the league, especially when you can rotate and basically play a second first XI after mid week games. You look back at the last 3 or 4 weeks and game to game the attackers were changing. Foden, Grealish, Sterling, Jesus, Mahrez, Ferran at the start of the season, Bernado all playing in attack. That depth just blows every other team in the league out of the water.

As such for me anyway the much better judge of him is in the CL, in two legged ties against higher calibre teams, and in those he's repeatedly made poor tactical choices. SAF's achievements at various teams and building multiple teams at United are on another level, for me anyway.

I'm just not convinced Pep has or will ever outperform his squad the way SAF and Wenger did. City's squad - while slightly trimmed this season - has always been the best in the league. Now, winning with the fastest car is absolutely still a skill - indeed in some ways it's even harder. But I wonder if we'll ever see him start a season without the best team in a league, and see what he does then.

That argument makes no sense, a one horse race implies there's only horse challenging, which clearly hasn't been the case with Liverpool a point behind them twice. In Bayern and PSG's case they usually walk the league with no close challengers.
