Pep Guardiola agrees 1 year contract extension | Includes additional 1 year option

They had no business getting those 23 points. They'd been squeaking through against a few midtable teams. They were also lucky to play Chelsea first up before they got used to their new manager and a weakened Arsenal under a scared Arteta.
Arsenal is also in a bit of a mini-crisis themselves

The club must know they are going to be found guilty and punished substantially. There's no other explanation for this utterly spectacular debacle.

it's nauseating how the journalists are still cuddling him. They'd have burned every other manager at the stake five games ago.

I don't think so. It's just a combination of Liverpool and Chelsea doing unexpectedly well and Arsenal over-dramatising everything that happens to them.

So it's all about Rodri, heh?
They were struggling a bit with him, but it does seem to have made an big difference, but not the only difference.
Everyone else's form seems to have gone, and no-one in midfield has enough legs, and the whole insane pressing game has evaporated.

This is more than a motivational issue.

Not being motivated turns big wins in small wins, and small wins into draws. You still pick up points along the way. This is a car crash.

12 games is not a blip, its a third of a season. And the form they are is actually worse than Derby county.

Personally I think pep is done at city and it's been clear 6/7 games ago. And I'm enjoying every moment of it.

The players are trying to get him sacked. No doubt about it.

The guy is set up for life regardless. He’ll have shares and other interests with Abu Dhabi.
He could have quit after a year at Barcelona if he just wanted enough to live off. That's if he wasn't already loaded after the playing days.

But greed is greed, why settle for 200million if you can get 210million etc

Yep, because he's such a nightmare to be managed by, with all that winning everything in sight for a decade stuff.

Rodri is a part of it, but yes, I genuinely believe they know something we dont and have collectively downed tools.

Him resigning before the charges for the 130 infractions would completely destroy his legacy. It would make him look like the biggest quitter and coward ever and give the appearance that he abandoned the club.

“You ran away as soon as you hit the first ever bump in the road over your entire career” will be all you’ll hear. Can’t see him walking no matter how bad it gets.
I doubt he would walk away but if that was the narrative, do you think he'd really care? Mourinho should have torched his legacy based on what he has done in the last few years as a manager but it's not going to change what he won or how he was viewed at his best.

Seriously, what is the excuse for this? Rodri is missing, but they are still able to field an extremely talented team. Pep should be finding the solutions with the tools available to him.

Would be great if Jose could rub additional salt in Pep’s wounds. Mourinho knows how to get in his head and it’s always entertaining to see.
Mourinho is managing in Turkey plus has had to fly off for a health issue. I think he has other fish to fry than goad Pep

I am so glad that we beat them. It would have been really annoying to have gone down as a victory for them, rather than their 8th loss in their last 12 games. I love it

I totally agree. A few weeks back when he appeared at the press conference battered and bruised I thought he’d had a fight with a player.

People say this as if there isn't millions and millions of pounds to be had if you just outstay your welcome a couple more games.

Good point, but I don't think at Pep's level is matters as much as you'd think. The guy looks miserable and depressed, he will have an utter mountain of cash in every bank account you can think of, and will be given another mountain of cash at his next job.

So I agree with your logic, but in reality the difference to Pep's wealth would be marginal come the end of his career.

Say what you will about Mou, but depending on what happens with these 130 charges you can’t accuse his winning with actual cheating. If it comes out that City get punished harshly for cheating it’ll stain Pep’s legacy much more than Mourinho ending his career as a journeyman coach.

Really? Chelsea lead by Mourinho provided the template for this modern day City.

That's because they got 23 of the first 27 points. After that they have got 4 of the last 24. I'm not sure there's a precedent for a team that was so strong so recently to collapse in such a catastrophic manner.
Liverpool did much the same in 2020/21 coming off the back of a 99-point season. Lost 6 home games in a row.

He unbelievably replaced their core of Kompany, Yaya, Silva, and Aguero with equally impressive players like KDB, Dias, Rodri, Gundogan, and Bernardo. However, their new set of players doesn’t seem to be anywhere near as good, and with many of their main players aging, here’s hoping he leaves and they sink into a United-esque mediocrity—trying to buy their way back to the top but ending up with one overrated mercenary after another

That was only in the second half of the season when the defence was falling apart. We were top of the league at Christmas 2020, these are nowhere near the top, in freefall and the second half comedy is yet to come.

So basically the excact same premise then, except that our midfield and defence has fallen apart before christmas and not after it.
