Pep Guardiola agrees 1 year contract extension | Includes additional 1 year option

Don't need to behave like that. Have a word with him in the changing room, odd man.
There are times his weirdness probably worked and kept them on edge and playing at their best but now that they've dropped off, it does make him seem crazy. He's the only manager that I can think of who's behaved in a way that made people honestly worried for his health.

Yes I agree, looks like he needs a break.
I can bet on him not being the City Manager next season.
If the rumours about his personal life are true, I’d imagine he would stick to managing because it’s his best distraction.

No manager can remain at the top level forever, they have a shelf life like players do. Fergie retired at the top, Guardiola should consider doing likewise. Mourinho has gone from club to club trying to find that spark again but it never came back. Pep’s now at that stage.

You are aware that it's possible to obtain surface level knowledge about a topic without fully immersing yourself in it? :p
Just sensing a guy who needs to smell the roses, anti-social media can warp perspectives.

This would be a valid point if I either agreed with these podcasts or thought that they represented the mainstream. Neither is true in my case. But thanks for looking out for me! :)

Now back to the topic.

I think Pep went from passion projects to getting paid the kind of money and assets no other manager in football will ever get near. He used to state he needed time out of the game to avoid burn out and he's going against his own dogma now in pursuit of unimaginable riches.

I don't think he's spent, insofar as being a coach goes, but it doesn't matter who you are, when you overstay your welcome and aren't doing things for the right reasons, there's more than likely going to be a collapse of some sort.

Both he and Klopp looked knackered and haggard at various points last season, but Klopp did the right thing and listened to his inner voice, whilst Pep "soldiered" on. His focus does not seem to be on his work... that leads to a host of problems in itself, which seem to be getting leaked to the media in dribs and drabs now, also.

Telegraph running a "Does Pep Guardiola's divorce explain Man City's struggles?" piece. I have no time for Pep and City in general obviously, but what the hell man ... journalism is dead.

Seemingly the reason his marriage has broke down is because he's an absolute workaholic which is entirely believable. From what we can see of him he must be impossible to live with.

As others have said it seems quite clearly that he needs a break from the game. Behavior is becoming increasingly weird and volatile and it can't be good for anyone to live in that way,.

I'm surprised they didn't run with "Did Pep blame Ortega for his divorce?".

If UEFA or the PL administrators cant figure out where City's money came from, I doubt if the wife (or her lawyers) can find out where Pep has all his money parked.

I just like the idea of City being taken down by a bitter ex wife having the receipts. Like Capone and his taxes :)

That would be sweet. 'Like in the great movies, its always the least likely person to take down the protaganist.

But I suspect the wife isn't going to wreck her alimony/revenue stream -- unless she uses it to extract more out of Abu Dhabi.

Yeah I think he will take a break after this season, with everything going on with City and his personal life, I think he will need a break.

I've said a few times that I've got some sympathy for Pep because he's very clearly going through something but he's acting especially out of order here. Ortega does well not to shove him away and walk off or worse.
Yeah, I think the players probably still have huge respect for him given his achievements and status in the game, but seen in isolation this is bizarre behavior from Pep. Ortega is also not one of the most powerful players in the squad. Not sure if Pep could have done that to Haaland or De Bruyne without them reacting.

It will be really interesting to see whether Pep has it in him to go again. Assuming they win nothing major this year, it would be a sad way for him to end his time there, but it's beginning to look like a break from managing.

I beg to differ.

In retrospect it's good he didn't come to united.

It wouldn't have done his mental state any favors.
